For those who interviewed, or are current dental students, would you mind sharing your impression of the school (curriculum, student interaction, faculty, buildings, technology, externship opportunities, etc)?

Anybody know if Michigan is still doing pre-dec interviews? I've seen mostly batch 1/2 people with invites so I'm not sure if they will do more.

If they're out of pre-Dec interviews, I'll be devastated. My hopes are so high for this school...
Me too.. I am in 7 or 8th batch which makes my chance even slimmer lol.. I wonder which dates are left right now..

They are still offering pre-december 1 interviews.. Currently next opening is Nov 20 so not very many left

Just head back from my interview at Michigan.

LOL... I'm exactly opposite from you. Second batch here. Got interviews at all other schools I applied to including Michigan, but have not heard anything from PENN yet..sigh... Kinda frustrated and sad, since I heard that PENN only has post-Dec interviews now🙁, and it's one of my top schools.

Don't lose your hope yet for Michigan (all of you guys!). In my interview, they said that they appreciated those who got notified in a short time but still arranged their schedule and came here. (Probably because few people did not reply to their confirmation email). Each interview is gonna have 30 spots. So my guess is that there is still much hope to get pre-Dec invites in November.

Do you happen to know how many November days there are for interviews? I heard November 20, not sure if thats the only one.

For those who interviewed, did we have to turn in a financial aid form or some sort? I remember people turning in a form in addition to the technical standards form?
I think they give you an estimated budget...

I am not sure but I never received an email about anything other than technical standard form....

Any ideas?
They were giving it to mary the financial aid director.

I haven't interviewed yet but I received the form in the email and it is not mandatory. It just allows them to give a financial aid estimate.

how did it go? :]

It went really well I think! I was nervous for the MMI format going in, but I actually really enjoyed it.

For all others asking, Michigan has 10 interview dates total with 30 applicants each. 8 of the 10 are before December, and then 2 more happen in January. I'm not sure how many they'll still have in November/when they send out invitations to those. Keep your heads up!

I'm a little late to the party, but where do you submit that online app fee? I tried looking for it online but it says it's closed and specifically said don't mail a check. I have a feeling they're not even accepting the secondary app fee anymore since it's late? I've gotten only 2 emails from them....first saying they received my AADSAS app and second that they received all my material and has been forwarded to the adcom. I tried looking online on their website, and there is no link regarding paying the fee. I don't even know if I should even pay the fee at this point considering how late it is.

Try calling them tomorrow, I tried to find the link for you but couldn't locate it either.

When did you submit your AADSAS? Online it says their application closes October 15

I submitted 8/6. The second email they sent me said "The Admissions Team has finished processing your DDS application. Your application, with all current application materials, will be made available to the Admissions Committee for review. Thank you for applying to the University of Michigan!" I'm going to call them tomorrow and see where I can find the link.

Interview invite yesterday via email, I am not 100% sure I'm gonna be able to make it but I'm going to try my best. I'm on for 11/20.

For the prerequisite audit, what did you guys put for institution attended? Do I simply type out "VCU"?

Yup! I just put the institution where I took the specific course, so you can put "Virginia Commonwealth University."

They didn't accept my sociology course. Do you all know how to go about taking a course after graduation, and if it is easy to do so?

May I ask why they didn't accept it? =o Was it not in the sociology department?
For taking a course after graduation, you can apply as a non-degree student and then they should let you sign up for courses whether in the summer, fall, or spring term.

Hmm I wonder if I should get on that ASAP or wait until I see if I'm accepted. It was Social Psychology and had the sociology prefix as well. :shy:

You can wait til after the decision Dec 1st to sign up for it. Obviously if you get accepted or waitlisted you will wanna take it, but it is easy to sign up for as an online course and the class won't take too much time. I would e-mail them now though and say you are planning on taking it.

That's interesting it had that prefix though =o Maybe they're looking for it written directly in the course name >< ?

I guess that would depend on your school's deadline to sign up as a non-degree. Nevertheless, I hope everything works out! 😀

They might be looking for Sociology 101. I took social psych and its a little different than social psych, so maybe they want that specific one? All i can think of.

Maybe! I took a course called Sociology of Emotions, an upper level course in the soc department at my school. I'm not sure if that's what they're looking for to fulfill their requirement, but we'll see!

I've been waiting to get a course verified for over a month! How long did it take for you guys to hear back?

I mailed out on 7/2 (2nd batch), was marked completed by Michigan on 7/24, and received an interview invitation on 10/18. I hope this helps!

Are you talking about for the course audit sheet or for an interview? My timeline for interview was basically that same as OpSmile's

Do you have to do anything after you fill out the google docs sheet or do you just wait?

I filled out the course audit sheet for my interview back in September and they only accepted one of my English classes because they were both literature-based. They said if I sent a syllabus of a class I took in which 50% of the grade was based on writing, it would cover the rest of this requirement. I e-mailed them the syllabus over a month ago, sent a follow-up e-mail last week, and still haven't heard back. I didn't know if anyone else had been in this situation yet!

Has anyone received an interview since October 23rd?

Sorry I misunderstood your question earlier! I haven't experienced that situation yet since I am just now submitting for the course audit, but maybe you can call the office next week to ask if you still haven't heard back! I imagine if you sent them the syllabus and that it meets the 50% writing-based grading, that you should be fine! I hope everything works out!
