Called yesterday to check in, got the same, call-back after Feb 26......
Count about 10-15 of those seats for in-state, so I'd assume there's probably a dozen left for OOS.The class size varies year to year, from 75-84 I believe. As of two week ago when I interviewed, 58 people had put a deposit down. We were told that not all of those 58 will matriculate, so you're looking at maybe 20-30 spots still available
Anyone else interviewing tomorrow? It's my first interview and I'm trying my hardest not to be nervous! I have read on here about the interviews, and have reviewed their website and mission statements. Also went over my personal statement again since its been a few months haha. But I can't help but feel like I need to prepare more!
Since its my first interview I have a "make it or break it" feeling. But I'm trying to use that as fuel to kill it.
Be yourself and you are good to go. The interview is really really relax and very conversational ! Enjoy your time there cause there is nothing to be worried about!
Haha it's ok. I didn't apply for it. I received a call yesterday from Dr. Ancajas saying that I was selected to receive a scholarship of $15,000 and it is renewable as long as you maintain a 3.4 or above. I'm instate. I wasn't expecting anything, it really surprised me.did you apply for it? how much is the scholarship for and are you instate or OOS? haha sorry for all the questions but im really hoping for a scholarship as well
That's pretty much all that I've read so I'm trying my best to do so. Thank you 🙂
Is there any other preparation that I should make other than just relaxing? For the written portion for instance?

Nope, The written portion is not HARD at all.
....
Wooohoooo... Glad to hear that. Hopefully you will get the magical acceptance call soon. good luck 🙂Just got back to the hotel and that **** was awesome. It was my first interview but it was a super cool day.
Haha, ok perfect, I think you can tell a lot about a school by the lunch they serve. Seriously though, thanks for the thoughts!I chose UNLV over a couple other schools because of the fairly new clinic and sim lab, having a moderate to small class, having enough chairs to accommodate said class, being in Las Vegas (i liked the west coast attitude more than the north east attitude). In clinic all 4 years! The overall feel that the faculty was welcoming and friendly. I liked it there, I didn't like the heat, that they aren't that prestigious and that they require me to probably buy one of their crappy laptops. Oh and that we have school every summer.
Mostly though, out of all of my interviews they had the best lunch.
serious question: my conditional acceptance says that if I get a C i have to report it to the school, but does that mean they can rescind my acceptance if I get a few Cs this quarter or the next? I'm too scared to call and ask haha
Sometimes in the next week or two.Does anyone know when the 3rd round of acceptances is?
That's what I heard at the end of January when I spoke with someone as well, looks like it may have changed.I was told, by a professor and an admissions representative, they were meeting at the end of February.
Was this a personal conversation you were having in email with admissions, or a general email they sent out?I got an email today saying they will be meeting mid-March actually.
I was updating some info and the email they sent back included a paragraph saying that they were going to meet again mid-March and to call back anytime after then. Was this a personal conversation you were having in email with admissions, or a general email they sent out?
Lol, I actually went to ask the admission about the same thing, DR Ancajas told me simply don't get any Cs, but if i ends up getting any C then it depends on what subject it is, if it is a history or literature type class she wouldn't worry too much about it.
And yes, they can take away the acceptance, hence it is "conditional".
so that means...if I get a C, they WILL take it away? I am taking 3 difficult science classses this quarter!! Should I call and talk to them about it? We just got our midterm grades back and a C might be on the horizon for some of them.
What courses are they? Pre-reqs? Upper division science?
Yes, call them.
The concern is that the material you're covering in those classes will likely come up again in dental school, compounded by a heavy load of credits. By getting C's in those science courses you're basically telling them "I don't understand this material." I'm not saying you do or don't or simply haven't put the time in, it just looks like that. The committee will tilt their heads at it and want an explanation at the very least. The very worst--they rescind your acceptance. Who knows though, ask them! They said something about remediation in the acceptance letter as well.
In my experience Dr. Ancajas has been super nice and will probably understand as long as you put in your mightiest effort from here on out. She'll probably be like 'lovetheneighbourhood! What happened!'
I suggest you talk to them though. Tell them you slipped in the beginning of the quarter for whatever reason but you'll prove you still got it, then get A's on all the next tests/final. Don't throw in the towel!

Best of luck!
----All of this is just my opinion...I honestly have no idea how they will actually respond----
I know how you feel, really trying hard to survive Physical chemistry II with the Lab, 100% sure it won't be in Dental school.I mean they are all plant classes...literally. So I doubt I will actually learn any of it in dental school. i just dont know how to go about the conversation haha

Along with a 5 credit human anatomy and two heavy reading classes.... You can do this brother!
At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Thats awesome you were offered a scholarship! Do you mind if I ask your DAT scores and science GPA/overall GPA, and maybe some other factors that you felt might've weighed into it. I'm also instate and going to be applying for this upcoming cycle and was hoping for a scholarship myself.Haha it's ok. I didn't apply for it. To those of you who got in and are in-state, can youguys share your DAT stats and GPAs? I'm going to apply this upcoming cycle and I'd like to get some ideas. Thanks!
Thanks for giving us a chance! Where did you decide to go?Just gave up my spot at UNLV. Best of luck to everyone waiting on admission!
