this morning a little before 8did you have an email sent out to you this morning or more recently?
Where did you hear that?Anyone hear that the dean of admissions accepted a position somewhere else? Dean change in the middle of the cycle sounds weird, especially for those that were interviewed by her.
Couple of friends at the school. Her contact information isn’t listed in the faculty directory anymore either.Where did you hear that?
I’m aware of that. Do you know if that may have impacted those interviewed by her? Possibly in a rush to make a decision about those she interviewed? Or maybe some candidates were on the fence and she was not able to defend them because she had already left? Leaving the decision to be split between two hire ups. Not sure how decisions get made, just genuinely curious on if he leaving made an impact on those she interviewed. She got a job offer for a higher-level position and took it, nothing weird happened or anything though.

Maybe because she was known to focus solely on academicsWhy would it? As far as I know at most schools including here decisions are (usually) made relatively soon after interviews. I’m sure everything was complete before she even got the offer. No offense, but I think pre-dents tend to really overthink stuff like this.

Gotcha. Completely understand and agree with all you have said. I guess my biggest thing was that I’ve heard she is very big on academics, oppose to others faculty members who care more about your personality and what you can bring to the table. So I’m asking the question in a way where it’s like, say someone that was interviewed by her had subpar academics but an awesome personality. She would focus on their academics, whereas another faculty member would focus on their personality. The outcome would be completely different in their final say. Again, this is just from what I’ve heard so correct me if I’m wrong. And I know this is just the surface of it all — way more goes into it. Thanks! Why would it? I can't claim to know exactly what their system is but I know they calibrate a lot, so that all interviewers should give relatively similar assessments were they to all interview the same candidate, and are rather systematic about the process, so nothing should change going forward for post-Dec. interviewees, and she's certainly already submitted her assessments for anyone she interviewed pre-Dec. I guess I'm not saying there couldn't possibly be any effect at all, but I really doubt this would change anything much if at all.

Good luck to those waiting to hear from the school!
I will be attending VCU on 2019, and Im looking forward to killing-it with you guys for the next four years!![]()
nah, good old student loans brodid they offer you a scholarship for being OOS by any chance?
Damn lol just trying to justify the cost of it vs my state school because I liked it so muchnah, good old student loans bro
People always say go to the cheapest school, and they're right for the most part, but you also have to live bro. If you can make peace with the extra cost, and you really want to go to VCU, then f***k it, bite the bulletDamn lol just trying to justify the cost of it vs my state school because I liked it so much
true, I like the way you thinkPeople always say go to the cheapest school, and they're right for the most part, but you also have to live bro. If you can make peace with the extra cost, and you really want to go to VCU, then f***k it, bite the bullet
For the record: VCU is the second cheapest school I got into, not the cheapest

Speaking of scholarships, I got an email the next day (Dec 4th) saying I was selected for a $20,000 scholarship if I attend. It will be dispersed over the 4 years, every little bit helps haha

I don't but I'd look through the events calendar (Events - VCU School of Dentistry) since it seems to have most big events for each cohort.Does anyone know for Christmas, spring and summer, how much time off classes is there?

Would the dean make all of the decisions though? Isn't there committees that vote yay or nay or do the decsionsall rely on one person?I’m aware of that. Congratulations!!! It's a two-day thing. It's two on one interview the second day, mine was very very relaxed and they were very kind. I brought drawings/ manual dexterity examples to show them and they seemed super impressed with that so I would recommend bringing something like that. Mine lasted about 25 minutes. On the first day, they do not feed you until the very end and there is a lot of walking around. I was about to pass out I was so hungry because I didn't eat before I went. So definitely don't do that. But it's fun and everyone is very friendly!Just received an interview invite! Can someone give me an insight on the interview part?
Did you guys bring any family members on the Ram Family day?
If you don't mind me asking. Was the scholarship merit-based or how were you selected for the scholarship?I was accepted Dec 3 via email. VCU is my state school so I was super excited!
