What ever happened to the last batch of acceptances to A&M? Didn't someone say that the acceptance committee has decided to save these spots for the match. Is this true? I will try and call tomorrow and confirm this.

Before Christmas they told me some offers will go out via match. Last week they said it all depends on how many people decline the pre-match offers. If you call tomorrow, please let us know what they say.

Is anyone planning on getting a roommate in med school? I want to. I can't live alone. I think I'd go nuts. I wonder if they have apartments just for med students.

At UTSW they told us that in the university-owned apartment complex next to the school the single units rent out way before the double's do. They said with all the studying that had to be done many people find having a roomate a hassle. But that might just be UTSW.

I know! Well, I just submitted my match preferences. I had a very hard time letting go of some schools but at the end decided to go with UTSA which I already had a pre-match offer to. Part of my decision was based on my wife as well, she was willing to go where ever I wanted but San Antonio has a couple of schools she would like to go to. And i liked the school a ton! I know we will have a very good time down there! I’m selling all my MCRAP material this week, and anything that looks pre med. 😀

It will definitely be a tough thing to work out. My wife has a great job, goes to grad school, and has family here in Houston. I'm (naturally) not in contention for any Houston-area spots. It's either College Station or Ft Worth for me. Neither would be a reasonable commute!

Same here. I'm looking at being in Temple, with my family in San Antonio. It's been a good test for us these past couple of weeks as I've been in Ohio without them - nothing like trying to manage things from a distance, and my husband has had some real fun as a single dad of two adolescents - particularly our daughter.😳😳

One of my professors works at Baylor and his wife is a physician in Houston. He makes the drive every day, as far as I know.

what kinda sucks also is you can be honest about wanting to be close to your family and I think they'll hold it against you. I was asked at both of my TX interviews if that school was my first choice and I told them both I wouldn't turn down an offer at the school my wife is at. I imagine that didn't sit too well with them and may end up hurting me.

has anyone sent update letters to the Texas schools? do you think it will influence the adcom either way as far as getting a match offer or not? do schools automatically get the updated GPAs from TMDSAS?

I think the schools might be a little concerned about my GPA and it might help to let them know I finished up my degree with good grades and what not.

Temple & SA are only like 2 hours apart, it's not that bad of a drive.

It's about 2 1/2 by the time you get through all the traffic in Austin. On my way back from Temple to San Antonio in December, a rock hit my windshield and broke it. I really didn't need that $250 anyway.😡

I actually figure that being in Temple will cost me an additional $80,000 - $100,000 over the four years between living expenses, a new car (mine already has > 100k miles on it), commuting costs, etc.

I feel your pain. I'm in a committed long-term relationship with the girl I plan to marry. She's predent track, and we already know the chances of us both getting in schools in the same city as slim. 🙁

Yeah, an upward trend is always a good thing. I'd definitely do that.

It certainly can't hurt! The schools won't really know until after today how many seats they will have for the match, so they can't have completed their lists.

Send emails to the admissons deans - that way you'll know they got where you want them to go...what have you got to lose??

80-100,000 😱 no way? housing in Temple is CHEAP! Unless you're figuring in a $60,000 BMW or something 🙂

It might be a little too late for an update letter. When I was at Houston, another applicant said he had overheard that the schools' match preferences were also due on the 15th. I realize this is a case of "I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who..." but I actually sorta knew this applicant beforehand.

I sent in my fall grades as soon as they were available in December knowing that transcripts would be a while. The typical resonse was that is was a bit too late in the process to change anything but thank you for the information.

Since this was a month ago, I doubt anything you do now will change anything.

Hey! Can anyone confirm this? I called TMDSAS to ask and the lady said that the schools don't have to sumbit until later but she seemed unsure? I was also planning on sending out a small update/interest later this week, now that I had to decide where I really want to go. Also there was a post last year about UTSW not considering anyone off their waitlist if you did not rank them first, is this possible?? I thought schools never got to see your ranking??
and wow just reading through last year's thread right before match is making my heart beat like mad no clue how I am going to manage, yay for being almost done!

When you all go to your ranking page... does it just say "Last saved on..." or "Last Updated on..."? Is that it? Is there anything else we need to do?

And for those of you with multiple offers, do you just decline all but one... and it also just says "Last updated on..." ?

I'm guessing that's all I had to do... but I have this feeling I missed something!

I realllllly hope you guys are right, but it just seems like they have a long list of people to validate and they just make their way down the list making sure all your coursework and stuff lines up. But then again who knows, I'm more happy having hope!

Anyone know of people who got validated last year and not get accepted? That would pretty much put the debate to rest.
