I have a week to decide, so I'm honestly going to use the time to process and really plan things out/compare the two schools because I am happy with my current choice but I do love Penn. Trying not to be impulsive.

orca that's awesome news!!!

and WEN, not sure if it's as bad at OKSU as it is here, but the class-wide plague is just preparing you for vet school I think. It's gross how many people get sick after every single break in school and then come back and are too scared to skip class so get everyone else sick. blech.

I was really not expecting this at all. If they were going to do anything, my mom and I were possibly thinking maybe putting me on the wait list but not this.

Penn rescinded their offer of rejection because you didn't meet their minimum requirements to stay rejected :meanie:

Thanks everyone! My mom started crying when I told her and is even happier than she was about Illinois cause I'll only be like 1. hours away. And my sister is waiting for someone to be like "Booo, you *****'' (hope everyone catches the reference) since this situation is kind of unusual (at least as far as I'm aware) and I probably haven't explained it as well as I could. Although, I don't think she realizes how supportive everyone is on here either.

I feel like it's a fairy tale story 🙂 Every time I read about it I'm just so HAPPY for you and can only imagine the joy you must be feeling! It's WONDERFUL! And you probably give hope to lots of other applicants 😍

Thanks! They need my deposit by the 18th, so just a couple of days, although I honestly could probably drop it off in person since I live 1.5 hours away. And I tried to pretend that I needed to think about it, but I really don't. Penn was my top choice and I get IS tuition (not that it really saves me that much money... grrrrr). And this way if I end up in any sort of a major bind I have family near by. Now I just need to find an apartment that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Just found the name of a landlord recommended to me from my interview 2 years ago. Wonder if he still has any places left...

I did too. But this just gave me all the more enthuasium to start again...I feel SO MUCH more prepared this time around. Sure, it would have been great to get in the first time but now more than ever I am sure that I want it...so hopefully there will be no third time! Good luck to you!

I know!! There were so many more things I could have put in there. Sigh. Got to get excited about this round. At least I have a physical copy of last year's application so I do have to flip through the 10 pages of transcript looking for classes.

But, but, tailgating. I got excited cause there was a game on my bday and thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate. Would have been better if it was the PSU game cause my ex was going to come visit and then he and I could spend the day "fighting" with each other.
 
Well I got a C in O Chem. People on here have told me that one C isn't that big of a deal but I am terrified. That was my last semester of undergrad and I was TOLD to finish strong. I'm at a loss.

I would say those are 2 separate pieces of advice.
1) One "C" is never going to be a big deal, especially if the rest of your application is solid, and your GPA is otherwise competitive.
2) If you get poor grades early in college (when most others, but not you, often take OChem) try to finish strong. This advice should not apply to you.

Try not to worry too much. Maybe someone didn't know your situation - or didn't read it carefully.

I think I didn't word that properly. I have been told by others on here that one C isn't too big of a problem, but I was told during my file review to finish strong. And I didn't apparently. I'm worried about reapplying as it is and I'm very concerned about this grade.
 
Can you retake it this summer? Even if it's at a local JC it could help.
 
:smack: Duh BKT. I'm sorry, I completely forgot that JCs don't offer upper division chem. So you can't retake it at school and try to get a better average? I would think that even if it only helps your GPA a little bit, the adcoms will see that you were able to manage an A or B grade. In this specific situation, I would think it's more about proving you can finish strong rather than really changing your GPA. Right? I don't know your stats or anything but if you can do better a second time around, it couldn't hurt right? I'm sorry that this class is causing you trouble. 🙁

Blah. Yeah I'm thinking retaking would be best but it's not offered again until next spring. Poopydoo
