I just called in today to find out that I have been waitlisted at Wayne State - which at this moment is the only school that even offered me an interview. So you can understand if I'm anxious.

I know a number of you are in the same boat as I am, waiting for the next call-in date. Please post a message here so that we can coordinate/collaborate/offer support!

Wow, you had to wait a month and a half for your decision. I was a little upset because I interviewed on Jan. 24th and they told me to wait until Feb. 28 Good luck to everyone waiting. I shall be calling in with you guys on Feb. 28. I don't have great stats so I am suspecting a WL, but then again I am instate so who knows.

I wonder, though...can we really expect movement after one month? I know that the January decision date is smack-dab in the middle of the (non-ED) acceptance dates, and since Wayne interviews according to MCAT scores that maybe we'll "look better" than the next batch of interviewees...but do you think that there will be movement in that short of a time?

Then again, I saw an earlier post regarding someone who was waitlisted in November and then admitted in December.

I sent an e-mail to a first-year med student at Wayne, who did my tour. She said that a lot of her classmates came off the waitlist in May, June, and July. But she also recommended calling in at each call-in date.

One more thing...is it safe to assume that if you are on the waitlist, and call in at a future date that your status can only change from "alternate" to "accepted" or can it change to "no longer under consideration?" I would assume that you'd remain on the waitlist and not removed from it.

From what I remember reading you will not get rejected from the alternate list until after May 15 at the earliest

what are the chances that those interviewing in march or even april will get a direct acceptance before those who have previously been on the waitlist...

for example:
a 30-31, 3.5 instate, interviews in jan and is waitlisted
a 27-28, 3.6 instate, interviews in march and gets accepted on first call in date, before the other guy...

Just as an update (and a BUMP), I'm eagerly awaiting the Feb 28th call-in. I have had no other MD interview offers, though I've had two other DO interview offers.

And a ton of MD apps at "No new news" status.

So I'm hoping I can come off the waitlist at Wayne and into the big leagues!
