This is the second time I'm taking this thing, and the first time I got my failing result on the last possible day....my question is, after 99% of all the people received their scores, are there any passing ones left? Has anyone ever passed and gotten their scores after the 3rd Wednesday. Please respond, anything helps.....

If anything, people that I know who have failed have received their results on the very first day of reporting. I know 3 of these people personally. I think this makes sense because the institution wants to give the student the most time available to reschedule before the match. If you had failed when they got to your score report, there would be no reason for them to hold your score for more time. It's very likely that you didn't get your score back yet because one of the grading physicians is a little slower than others in getting to yours.

Hector, just take a breather and don't let it affect you so much. I know you're probably about to jump out of a window right now and freaking out, but there is nothing you can do. It's human nature to prepare for the worst.

Did you do anything differently in your 2nd attempt that differed from your 1st? Do you know why you did not pass the first time?

As time goes on, it's also human nature to think more negatively. So you feel like you did worse than you really did. I know I felt that way when I waiting for my score.

Thanks, dude, i really appreciate the long thoughtful reply.

I AM freaking out and pretty close to jumping out the window. The second time I poured it on in professionalism because thats where I failed the first time. Didn't know to shake hands, didn't wash hands after PE, didn't pull out footrest. Other than that I am a really personable guy, and figured those things would be overlooked.

It's just I got this result on the last possible day, with 1% of other people. If i get this result on thelast possible day thats a 1/1000 chance bro.....I'm trying to be positive but not delusional. Does ANYBODY know of a person receiving a passing score on the last possible day??

Also, I pretty much got told by a program dir of an incredible program in a COMPETITIVE specialty that they'll rank me. I'm an IMG with a 1 failed attempt at CS....this really doesn't happen for people like us. I feel like this handwashing bullsh*t is standing between myself and my medical career. I got 230's on 1&2....there's not gonna be a second chance for these opportunities if I don't pass this year.

Looks like you may have taken CS granted the first time around. All of the professionalism aspects, like washing hands BEFORE physical exam and shaking hands, is pretty standard. It's in First Aid, in case you don't do those in real life. I hope you changed all of these things in your 2nd attempt??? Dermatology is pretty competitive these days...

CS scoring is pretty random. I know an AMG who speaks pefect english get a borderline performance on CS. Anyway, just take it easy and relax. You will either get your score next week or the week after that. That's it. Either that, or you already got it, but it's stuck in the SPAM filter.

Oh Yeah, and I'm a US citizen that went to St. George's, so its not like English is a problem

Yes, I washed my hands before and after, even washed my stethoscope with an alcohol wipe before each PE. I didn't summarize on about 5 or 6, but that was the only mistake, my notes were very good.

I just can't get over the fact that I failed on the last possible day last time and now this time the course of events is starting to look familiar. Does anybody know anyone that got a pass on one of the last 2 Wednesdays?

Thanks, dude, this is a place where peopleare supposed to give each other advice, honestly. You're either on here every 30 mins because you're scared about the same thing (you star med student you) or because you already passed the CS and have nothing else better to do. Im going to bed wondering which.....

Hector, I hope you are enjoying the holidays, like Christmas today.... There are only 2 possible weeks left that you can get your score back. I know it's probably the worst 2 months of waiting in your entire life, but just know that worrying can't change the outcome. So just enjoy the break. Let me know how it goes.

Forgive my ignorance, but don't you, as an IMG, automatically get withdrawn from the match if you fail CS? Or is there a deadline to pass before the start of residency?

I'here too... IMG like you 🙁
I don't wanna worry too much, because I took the CS on the very last day ofthe reporting period, but this whole thing is starting getting on my nerves!!!

I took my test November 11th. When should I expect my score?

Hector, I believe that no one can think to have rocked the CS, especially f you are an IMG and your mothertongue is not English. I made some mistakes, like :
1) running out of time twice while writing the note, thus not completing the physical examination part in its integrity once and the workup plan once - I could write just one or two tests - but in this second case I had summarized all the necessary tests to the sp while ending the encounter
2) forgetting washing my hands in one or two encounters... I know this is pretty bad according to what is posted on this forum... Don't know what to think about that, I hope it won't make me fail the whole thing

Otherwise, I did a basic PE (cv, pulm, gi, ent and extremities) on almost every patient, with a more focused examination depending on the case. I had a lot of tough questions (like FA ones), but I was prepared to answer them, so this was no big deal. I did not summarize every single encounter, but I always did closure and explained to the patient every possible diagnosis and their chances and the workup plan. I never ran out of time during the encounters, I always had 3-5 minutes spare.
Except in that one case listed above I wrote many tests in the workup plan, grouped by type (blood, urine, radiology...etc)
In one of the last cases I was reeeeeeeeeeally tired and I was forgetting to elicit a sign that was fundamental for the diagnosis... So I had to do it WHILE talking to the patient...Thank God I thought about that, bcs the sign was + and so that one was the more likely diagnosis, I could've missed it totally!!!

So... I hope that something (good, btw) will come out tomorrow... I'm starting freaking out!!!

What do you think about my mistakes??? Are they toooooooo bad to pass???

about the mistakes, i don't know. English is my first language and I felt like I should've been fine the first time. Hopefully we'll see, as this Wed, or the following Wed is when they are released. I'm really getting nervous though.

Thought I join in with you guys who are freaking out here. I took mine on nov 6 also. I do hope we'll get our results tomorrow. Everything is riding on the result of cs for me. I wish you all the best luck come Wednesday.:luck:
