Anybody get annoyed by the pre-meds at their universities who think they know more than their advisors and give out crappy advice to everybody?

This one guy at my uni didn't know that a physician had to do a residency; he thought you just went from medical school ---> attending. He was telling people he would be earning 400k a year the day he finished medical school.

Share your stories of pre-med noobishness if you have em.

Most of the ones I've encountered simply underestimate the demands associated with being a pre-med. They think it's a cake walk, cramming for tests, partying constantly etc. Those that I know of are now in the position their senior year with a ~3.3 gpa and ~26 MCAT, scared to death now.

school starts back up in about a month.

You know what that means.....

Fall Quarter = New incoming batch of aspiring pediatric brain surgeons, and heart transplant surgeons...

I'm sure you're a sweet, intelligent person, but do you think this thread is going to go any different or better than this one?

That's not even that bad lol. I know people like that who've failed biology twice and believe they will manage.

Yeah, it's not THAT bad, but their demeanor has quickly taken a 180.

Hey, some of us do go on to be pediatric brain surgeons.

Granted, when I was in college, I thought I wanted to go into pharm research. 😕

OP you make a lot of stupid threads. That in my book is a very " premed noob" tendency.

Wow you make very cool threads. You must have alot of friends. thread=fail

I know of this one pre-med who actually thought socializing wasn't important. Yeah, I heard she did really well first year and all but had like NO friends. Isn't that absolutely horrible!! I can't even imagine. I think she actually posted her situation on a forum like this... wait... oh...

x10

OP, you're one of the most annoying premeds on this site.

'You're going to make a terrible doctor.'

The best part: she advises people to be JUST LIKE HER.

Go, OP! Can't wait for your inevitable breakdown! I'm RSVPing now! 🙂

Him : "You need a 2.5GPA and just take the MCAT and you can become an orthopedic surgeon and I want to make $200,000."

Me : "That's cool. Keep it going!"

Wait, there are females on the Internet? 😱

Since I missed the Bannie meltdown.. I gotta make up by watching this.

Zing!!! You guys are freaking brutal. OP thats gota hurt.🙄

lol doesn't matter to me in the slightest. They have understood my thread for the most part so nothing they say means much because of their fail reading comprehension.

Better to fail at a little reading comprehension than to fail at socializing and having a life. 😉😉😉

Well if it makes you feel any better your pretty hot. (if thats your pic)

So I there was this dude that I went to high school with, registering at the same community college as me, and he selected pre-med. I asked him about it, and he said he wanted to own a Lamborghini one day. I was in a bit of shock as to how someone could be so ignorant.

I remember a topic where somebody asked for help taking tests.

You told him to lock himself in a room and not talk to absolutely anybody until he had every single page of his notes memorized.

Crappy advice.

Get through sophomore year and get some friends Once.

lol people are so mean...
OP, ignore them

LOL nice. Some guy was trying to tell me how he would be able to afford a ducati after he was a doc...they're only like 10 grand though lol. Not so impressive haha.

Nope, I'm pretty well informed.

You're booksmart and you know the application process.

And you've completely isolated yourself socially in the process of getting to be that way.

So you may not be a noob to the premed lifestyle, but you're certainly one to a college lifestyle. Or even just a normal lifestyle. Are you proud of that?

Nope, I'm pretty well informed.

....not!

"Isolate yourself and don't reintroduce yourself to civilization until you can picture every single sheet of notes in your head.

For all of my exams I have every page so that I can visualize it and where certain points and facts are on that page. That definitely helps on essays and stuff to be able to say like "this on page 47 in my book" and then be able to see what is on that page." http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=756823

I doubt you can do this, but if you can you're one of the few. Even if you can, talking to other people is important. And most people cannot do this, nor would they spend all 24 hours of their day memorizing every detail.

"Hey guys,

Just finished freshman year and was wondering what I should do socially for next sem.

Freshman year I basically nerded out and had a fantastic year: great gpa, good ECs, research, awards, etc. But no friends. Is it worth it to make friends in college? I feel like they will mooch off me, making my application suffer consequently. I hear all the hype about college being the best years of one's life but isn't getting into med school more important than socializing? thoughts?" http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=755637

Medicine isn't all about being book smart. Plus, freshman year is so easy. I got all a's freshman year and went out three times a week.

"I don't ever have career crises which is awesome. I basically have just one option. I like it like that actually. My parents are doctors. My cousins are either attendings, residents, or students." http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=10044569#post10044569

YOU'RE A FRESHMAN/going to be a sophomore.. YOU'VE ONLY TAKEN GEN CHEM AND GEN BIOLOGY. Oh and I can't forget English 1, that's definitely a toughie.

You are very ill-informed. You may know the application process, but the fact remains your a sophomore and you run around this forum acting like you're a sixty year old attending.

I disagree with almost all of your posts, call it trolling if you wish. I call it as it is.

seriously, what's with all these fcking just-finished-freshman-year kids on SDN thinking they know anything?

All of this is the worst crap that you can do. Not only are you just ruining any kind of small life you could have, you're not LEARNING. Memorizing isn't learning, and that will come back to bite you in the ass later on.

Honestly, this was funny for a little bit but now it's just getting ridiculously mean. If she really has no friends why are you all sitting here rubbing it in her face? OP if I were you I'd just stop reading if I were you. No need to let others bring you down...or try to at least.

Then you can stop reading, too.

Get used to it on this site. Everyone gets riled up over posts and everyone gets bitched at. *shrug* If you don't like it, don't have to read the thread. Not saying it is right or wrong, but it's what happens. The OP has made more than a few posts like this, and repeated threads get really old around here, and it fuels the fire.

Regardless of whether or not I like what I'm reading I felt the need to be one of the very few people posting something nice rather than rude and snarky.

Yea, I don't get that picture either...made me lol.

:zip: > OP

Sigh, OP you are so naive!!! I want to shake you through my computer monitor.

Also Nebraska DESTROYED you.
