Grrr... evil friend from Chicago called me a minute ago... saw that area code on my caller ID and about had a heart attack... BOOOOO.titoincali said:Me too, Flop! They are meeting today and I was told that I would get either a call tomorrow and the letter would be sent out tomorrow! Hopefully we'll know something by this Friday.![]()

You didn't get a phone call?jbrice1639 said:For all of you waiting on the admissions meeting today...my letter came the Thursday of the week they met and was postmarked Wednesday. They said they used Monday to meet and Tuesday to prepare the letters. Not sure if it always goes that way, but I thought I'd give you all a heads up on how it went for us a few weeks ago.
Good luck to you all!![]()

Chopianista said:Do they generally meet the first week of the month? I'm interviewing there next week, and I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait to hear back.
Good luck on your interview! You will totally fall in love with this school. They will tell you exactly when the meeting to make a decision about you will be made so that you will know. If you have never been to Chicago before, try to schedule your interview near a weekend so that you can explore a bit - there is a bunch of stuff to do (plus the hotels are cheaper on the weekends). Let us all know!Chopianista said:Do they generally meet the first week of the month? I'm interviewing there next week, and I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait to hear back.
Flopotomist said:It is now nearly 6:30 in Chicago, and the meeting must be over. Breathing... breathing.. breathing......... keep breathing.
titoincali said:I've been doing the same thing today! Ok. It's 3:00pm so it's 5pm in Chicago, are they talking about me???
I can't believe how much I'm focusing on this meeting!
Flopotomist said:Making matters worse - the hospital I work in has NO cell phone reception.. so I have to keep hiking outside to see if there are any messages. Did anybody get a special phone call (although I understand that the letter is the official communication, I have heard that some interviewers call people and give the news over the phone.)

LaurieB said:Hi guys! It's great to feel the good vibe for Loyola coming out on SDN. I'm a 2nd year nontrad student here and couldn't be happier. If any of you have any questions about Loyola, feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to answer them.
Also, I wanted to confirm a few things posted in this thread:
1. What dopaminophile said about financial aid is pretty right on. The full loan amount may seem especially high, but I think this is because Loyola offers a pretty generous budget. Our financial aid advisor, Donna Sobie, is wonderful and very approachable. Call her if you have questions - I called probably 7 times when I was applying and she was always willing to help and never lost her patience with me.
2. Traditionally Loyola has given acceptances through January and taken about 33% of the class off the waitlist. I think this is changing. My class filled in late January and only 11% of the class was taken off the waitlist. This year's class filled in early January and waitlist movement was modest - I believe only about 10-15% of the class came off the waitlist. Loyola interviews until April, but if the past two years' experience holds true, you will be at a disadvantage if you interview late. If you interview in January and have the choice of an interview date, I would recommend taking the earliest date possible.
Congrats to everyone who has had interviews/acceptances and good luck to those waiting to hear back. The application process is brutal so hang in there!!

OK - If (when?!?) I am graced with an acceptance, lets schedule a SDN get together so we can all drink cider with jbrice and tease trishaaaaa about all those 'A's. Has anybody received a letter yet after the Monday meeting?jbrice1639 said:We are gonna have the coolest med school class ever! 😀
I think it's great to see all us future loyola students hanging out in our little lounge here on SDN.
It's nice to see some of the current Loyola students dropping in to offer advice and such too. See you all in July...and yes, the avatar is actually me, and that's cider, not beer 😉

I'm all the way in California, and my postal carrier is a one-legged blind man that has a bad habit of eating the mail and sticking his granola bar into the mailbox instead of the mail. The letter only has a 62% chance of actually making it to me.jbrice1639 said:![]()

HAHAHAHA... well, the truth is - the carrier assigned to my route is out on workers comp. Apparently, the route is a "cushy" route, so his seniority (and Union) are preventing another carrier from bidding to fill the route SOOO... instead of having a carrier assigned to my route, on a daily basis, AFTER the other carriers finish their regularly assigned route, some poor shmuck gets assigned to pull overtime and run the mail on this route.jbrice1639 said:eh...chicago's no better...i remember a big scandal a few years back where they found several hundred THOUSAND letters in dumpsters that postal carriers were throwing out so they could be "done" with their routes and go home...
the kicker was.....wait for it.........
the dumpsters were directly behind the post office...the lazy *****s weren't even dumping the letters somewhere hidden...
trishaaa said:I received my letter more than one week after the Monday committee meeting. Don't fret; it'll come.
(P.S.- I'm in Boston. I also think my mail carrier trashes mail and eats granola bars).
I am totally coming over to kick your mail carrier's ass!Flopotomist said:HURRY UP MAIL CARRIER... ARGH.... maybe in future years, we can give them a preaddressed, prepaid fedex envelope.
