Quick question, I'm working on the personal biography section and I'm at the jobs section. I'll be a senior next semester and I'm 100% positive that I'll be working a certain job since I've had that job all throughout my college life. Am I supposed to include that in the "senior" field or do I leave it blank since it hasn't really happened yet?

Those were the EXACT words from the TMDSAS lady. I asked that specific question and got that specific answer.

That being said, I don't know how to reconcile your experience with that answer <shrug>.

If it is true, that is good news, since one of my profs will be a litle late in sending in my LOR.

This is what the instructions say:
Applications are transmitted even if TMDSAS has not received all supporting documents

It is a small office and only three ladies answer the phone, so, you probably misunderstood! TMDSAS has NEVER waited on letters or transcripts in order to process and send to schools.

I just hit "submit" and put my pictures, check, and certification page in an envelope!!! I'm very excited.

OK, time to stop being excited and study for my biochem test this evening. 😱 Between applications and waiting for the ****ed MCAT scores, I really haven't had the motivation lately...

I'm in the same boat. I have a biochem test day after tomorrow and between the apps and the scores, I'm just procrastinating studying for the test. Also, I'm looking for a job during the glide year so I"m having to field phone calls from recruiters which takes up a chunk of time. In retrospect I should have started looking after the class was over.

Anybody else have LORs in interfolio that they are going to send to TMDSAS? How are you handling that stupid extra form that TMDSAS wants? I don't want to go back to the profs and say "I know you've already spent a bunch of time helping me, but here, can you fill out this as well?"

I should think that the confidentiality statement on the interfolio form should answer the purpose, but I don't know whether THEY will think that.

I have submitted all of the materials (except for MCAT scores which I hope to get today or tomorrow). When I check the status of my application on the TMDSAS website, it says that all materials have been received except for MCAT scores and my committee interview/LORs (should be on their way). How can you tell what has been done with your application, i.e. what schools have been forwarded a copy, etc.? I have finished secondary apps so I just want to make sure my application is not stuck in limbo needlessly.

There is a line that says the date that the application is forwarded to schools. It's a few lines below the lines that say the date when the cert. page and pictures were received.

anyone start getting emails or anything from the schools saying their application had been received? i got one from TCOM but thats it...

Those of you who have submitted:

Do you have a "C" in the complete box of your transcripts?

I submitted and sent in my transcripts long ago. All of the transcripts are listed as being received, but no "C" appears in the complete box.

I'm hesitant to call TMDSAS about it, because someone told me that if they have to pull your app to look into things, it basically gets put back to the bottom of the pile, so I just wanted to see if everybody else's status page showed the same thing.

I've got dates received next to each one, but up above, all it says is
Official Transcripts: complete:_

My LORs haven't arrived there yet, so I don't know whether that changes things. Is that what you needed?

My transcripts were all in for about a week before the "C" was put up for them. However still waiting on my LOR....he's only known about it for 3 weeks now...hasn't sent them yet...WAIT...no, not yet...

Yup, that's what I was talking about (mine is the same.)

Thanks for checking!

Wierd. Mine have been there for 1 month now, and no C.

Mine says "G. Official Transcripts complete: C"

1 month is quite a while. Personally, I'd inquire.

:luck:

Initial Date Processed: 000000

i submitted mine june 8...but it says the following

Initial Date Processed: 000000 Last Master File Update: 061606 Last RCW Update: 061606 Validation Date: 000000

when will it be processed?

i don't know if this has been mentioned before.. but... i have all of my recs with the letter service at my school.. it is nearly impossible to hunt down my recommenders because they have moved on to other jobs in other places... why don't they accept letters from a letter service????? not every school is small and personal enough for you to be buddies with your profs three years later... just frustrated. if they do accept letters from a letter service, please let me know and disregard this rant... :meanie:

Jota^2,
Call them - My last transcript arrived on Friday and I have a "C" as of today. That's a 3 business day turn around....

My fee, photos, etc was complete on May 22. MY LOR was in on June 1 and they had my MCAT scores for a while. My application was not sent to schools until June 14th. The Master file update says 060606... but I didn't get an email until the 14th saying it had been sent. I am now getting emails from the schools (TCOM and A&M) asking me to complete secondaries and that they had received it.... So give it about a week or so after the master file update for them to send it out...

Wow - way to be on the ball!

Jota - Have you called them yet? I got a C the day my last transcript came in. Still waiting on my LOR though.

I didn't get to call them today, but I just checked and I now have the "C" next to my transcripts. Although I'm sure it's just a coincidence, the cynical side of me wonders if they are reading this thread or something....

I'm still waiting for them to get my committee letter too. I'm not sure who the guilty party is, the HPO at my school, or TMDSAS. My last letter was turned into the HPO 1.5 weeks ago, and they said that they would send them right out. Sure....

Anyone have the official word on this?

I'm pretty sure there were a few SDNers that successfully sent LORs to TMDSAS via Interfolio, and got interviews and were accepted. I plan on using Interfolio myself. I had no problems with it for my grad apps. I even got into Ros Franklin's and they "required" that the letter writer sign their name on the seal - which was obviously not done.

Oh nice thanks for the reply.

BTW, I was rootin for Iran 🙁

Not official, but I called the folks in Austin and explained my situation and they said Interfolio is fine. Mind you, they may be full of bunk, but this is the answer I got.

So some June 21st EC questions ...

1. Is it redundant or correct to list the same activity under two different "categories" if that's how it could be classified? e.g. volunteer/research

2. In the Chronology section, say I did something in summer, then the winter, then the next summer etc. I list the first duration in the date box and list the other times in the description?

3. In Chronology, how major is major? Like do I list events I did for more than a month as part of a club separately, or all together in a space for that club (date listed being the club join date) even though the times for those events are all spread out? Do they want to know about significant vacations?

4. In the jobs section, is there any better way to list an ongoing job than to put a separate entry in every box? It just looks so repetitive. I guess I don't like how they lump "summer" down at the bottom. And does "summer" include the one right after HS?

5. So I FEEL like preparing for the MCAT was definitely a major event (took TPR course). Stupid to list it in Chronology?

6. WHY don't they give us more space?? (ok not a real question, but you knew that ...)

Thanks.

List it twice, unless doing so takes up lines that you could use for something else that's meaningful.

2. In the Chronology section, say I did something in summer, then the winter, then the next summer etc. I list the first duration in the date box and list the other times in the description?

Yep. That's what I did. Just be sure to specify in the description so you don't look like you're padding.

3. In Chronology, how major is major? Pretty subjective. I think that they want a good narrative of your life. Click on the help example and you'll see it's all pretty major stuff. I didn't include three week vacations, but I did include 4 months I took off travelling. I think they want an accounting.

4. In the jobs section, is there any better way to list an ongoing job than to put a separate entry in every box? It just looks so repetitive. I guess I don't like how they lump "summer" down at the bottom. And does "summer" include the one right after HS?

I couldn't figure out a workaround. I repeated.

5. So I FEEL like preparing for the MCAT was definitely a major event (took TPR course). Stupid to list it in Chronology?

Only list it if you have a big black hole in your chronology otherwise.

6. WHY don't they give us more space?? (ok not a real question, but you knew that ...)

They're just plain mean.

Thanks.

My $0.02 above in bold.

so is it or is it not ok to send my LORs via my schools letter service??? anyone with experience with this or has already called??? i really dont want to annoy my recommenders even if i can hunt them down... if no one knows i'll call them... or i guess i can just take my chances...

Woohoo! I am processed!

For reference, my Cert. Page + Photos + $$$ were received on 6/9, and as of today (6/21) my app. has been processed and sent to schools! As I said a few posts ago, my transcripts were all received by 5/24.

AMCAS too! Submitted 6/14 and was officially processed today (6/21.)

Today is a good day!

(Still need to put the finishing touches on my secondaries, however....)

EDIT: AND, I just got off the phone with my HPO, and my committee letter is going out this afternoon!

Woohoo!

Wow that is really strange that there was such a delay.... my transcript arrived 6/19 and it was processed today.... (Not that it matters much since my committee letter wont be out for a couple of weeks)

When did you submit? (Actually, when did they receive your cert. page + photos + $$$?)

I don't think they actually verify your grades against your transcript until you receive your first interview.

I was processed today too. Wonder if they were waiting on MCAT scores or something. My LOR are going to take awhile though. Grr. 😡

For inputting your personal statement into the TMDSAS system, it seems that if you leave an empty line between two paragraphs, the empty line will be taken out by the system just as spaces(indentation) in front of a paragraph? This is judging by the printable application...

So there is pretty much no point of leaving empty lines between paragraphs?

I'm thinking of using two dashes (--) infornt of paragraphs to distinguish them, thoughts on this?

Thanks.

I just indented 5 spaces at the beginning of each paragraph.

Because TMDSAS counts lines instead of characters (like AMCAS does) putting an empty line between paragraphs would've been way too costly for me.

Did you guys paste your PS? it says not to, i really don't want to type it so did any one else copy and paste?

are there any international students applying to texas schools?

I pasted my ps, but you must be careful as the ends of the lines get cut off. I would recommend that you print out your application and check this before submitting. Good luck!

where are you guys? I made a huge mistake, i submitted my TMDAS and was reading the summary when i realised that my optional part was cut off, i swear i checked before submitting, so now only the first paragraph is showing which is so not fair cos the gist is in the last paragraph, since misery loves company, anyone one else screw up? is there anything i can do?

Thanks for answering my previous question, at least my PS turned out alright.

Well I must've reread my final draft about 5 times but after I submitted a few weeks ago I found out that the first word after a colon was capitalized...I pasted the PS from TMDSAS into Word to check spelling and the weird line format caused it to capitilize a word incorrectly and neither I nor my wife caught it, damnit. I also misspelled background (left out the "g")...my medical career's over...

I really don't want to do the 2nd optional essay, but my pre-med advisor is making me...ugggh....

Last year I submitted my application before realizing that the ends of some of my sentences were cut off. TMDSAS emailed me saying that there was a problem with my app and that they would re-open that section only so that I could fix it. Perhaps try calling them or emailing them explaining your problem. I am sure that they will re-open the optional essay section for you. Hope this helps! Good luck!

is the Ps supposed to be double spaced. When I cut and pasted my PS from word, it shows up double spaced when I printed a formatted copy from the website. i did not double space when I typed my PS. anyone having the same issue?

my sentences are also cut off when i print in portrait. that means the adcoms would see a messed up PS, right?
