I don't know about San Antonio or Baylor (although, you could assume there is a good chance it is the same) but I THINK Houston said they would give the first "no longer under considerations" after the conclusion of all the interviews in January. You won't get one like December 3rd though (at least not from Houston). But until you receive one of those emails, I think it is safe to assume that you are still under consideration. Good luck.

Just for everyone that has the itch to ask for info on the interviews, truth is no one is holding back. There are multiple interviewers and not always an exact "script" or "list" that they go off of, so being said, every interview is unique. Yes, there is one for formalities sake, but its rarely strictly followed (unless you REALLY dont give anything to the interviewer to work with). Best thing to do is to be yourself, be confident, be polite and prepare to sell yourself. Be interesting and be interested in the interviewer as well. The best interviews aren't interviews at all, but are conversations where your personality and ability to speak to others is reflected. My honest opinion is that interviews are mainly designed to not so much reiterate your accomplishments and eligibility but more to show that you're human with people skills and not some awkward robot.

But then again I may be wrong. My two cents.

Out of curiosity, does anyone SA and Baylor's post-dec interview policy?
 
Baylor sends out all seats on December 3rd. And whatever spots are left from people not wanting to go there is what post-dec + rest of pre-dec are competing for. San Antonio should be similar, but don't know if they sent out half, 3/4th, or all their seats December 3rd. Good luck!

San Antonio is the same. They send out 120 acceptances December 3rd. They'll keep sending until they're all filled. Last year I was told they filled the class in March.

wow, that is crazy. I knew that Baylor did that but I had no idea that SA sent out so many acceptances the first day! how nerve wracking

Where did you hear this from? I was told something different during my Houston interview.

Pre-match open acceptance period for offers of admission to Texas resident medical school applicants.

Dental schools begin extending offers of acceptance.

I think technically schools were allowed to extend acceptance offers the first but that dent schools decided to change it to the third so that it fell on a weekday....

Imagine how crazy it would be if they actually sent them out the first and we were all expecting the 3rd....

side note: 4 days, 14 hours, 29 minutes, 15 seconds!

The system is different for medical and dental applications.

That's really interesting. Didn't think it would take until March to fill a Texas school, but that works in favor of most of us!

What do you guys think is the enrollment rate from the first round of acceptances? From what I have been reading here, it seems like Baylor has the highest enrollment rate from the first round?

same here, I can only hope for San antonio and Houston since they interview thru January.

I'm in the same boat. Apparently getting a Post-Dec interview at Baylor is impossible so I'm forced to only have hope for San Antonio. They said they interview until mid January and I beleive Houston does the same so there's still some time for us but I'm not sure that there is much.
 
I'm crossing my fingers for post dec interviews as well. I've been fortunate enough to get a few OOS ones, but come on Texas…..show me some love 🙁

Dr. Segura said they extend 120 December 3rd at my interview. I was told they took until March to fill the class by another faculty member there.

Yeah, but like I said, even with that, they took until March to fill the class last year. People will put down deposits and then give up their spot after all if they get another school they want more later. There is still a decent chance to get an acceptance after December 3rd.

I don't know why it still says December 1; I feel like it is just not updated. As for the other business, dental schools don't participate in the pre-match business, only the medical schools.

Yeah, it is just because people hold out on other schools they want/give up their spot for another school they want. But even Houston said it could take as long as May. I figure Baylor will fill up the fastest, but that's just a guess.

Hey everyone, try to chill! I was in the same place last year and I'll never forget it. Do not dispair if that email doesn't come at the second you want it to. Alot of people got in at alot of times and have some interesting stories.

That said, UTSD student here, any questions I can answer, fire away at my inbox. I Love the school, the curriculum, and most importantly the people, my classmates and I feel very, very blessed to be here. Good luck everyone!
 
Not sure if this has already been asked but does everyone get some sort of response on the 3rd? Acceptance, wait list, rejection, or interview offer? Or do only acceptance offers go out and the rest are left wondering?
 
The rest are left wondering. No rejections go out until January. This is based on what I've heard on forums from years past.
 
With all these other schools notifying earlier in various ways, I wish Texas schools would get on that.
 
i know 🙁( I'm so scared for sunday night. I think SA notifies at midnight and that is the only one I've had the pleasure of interviewing at lol
 
There are lots (~64) of dental schools in the us. I've only heard of a few. I would think most are doing dec 3.
 
Now that I see, there have been tons of schools sending acceptances today. Maybe closer to half(ish). Haha
