Seems like interview dates have slowed down dramatically since no one is posting on here anymore.

:xf: Just want to hear back from one school at this point.
👍

It has been 10 days since the last person posted an interview invite. I'm sure somebody is bound to hear something back by the end of this week.

My friend got a Nov 9th interview last week for Baylor.

Alright Houston please show me some love.....I am anxious now....

I got a baylor interview invite today for 11/16.

I knew at least one interview invite was coming soon! Congrats!

Hang in there people, interviews are still coming. I have an interview with Baylor next month. For people who have already interviewed, How did it go? Is it group? What happens? Do they ask you tough questions? I know theres a tour scheduled... I'm so nervous, my stats aren't all that, so I need all the help I can get. What are the chances of getting an acceptance after receiving an interview? It's my first one:] Thanks

Does baylor give a 3 week notice for interviews? If so, then only about 2 more weeks left to hear back =X

I received my Baylor interview about 6 weeks in advance. I was notified on July 17 and interviewed on Aug 31. That may have also been because of the large influx of applicants during that period.

I just interviewed at Houston and they said that they still conduct interviews well into January. They said that they are going to give out few acceptances December 3rd to be fair to students who get interviews later. At the end of January, they will notify students who have not received an interview that they are no longer under consideration. Acceptances will be granted as late as May.

It went wel. It is one on one with three differernt interviewers. They will ask questions about you, your academics and your desire for dentistry. It was not too bad. Don't be nervous just be confident in your talk and presence. Be able to clearly explain anything they ask and just be yourself. I don't really know the chances..but if you nail the interview..then your chances should be high. I will be praying for you and for the everyone else in this cycle. Much love to you all. May Heavenly Father bless you all.

Amen to that, brotha!

Few Offers pre-dec? 😱. Most students interview pre-december, so would it be fair for them to not get accepted over post-dec people. This is scary .. I thought the other way around, that most are accepted in December and the remaining few spots that open up (since some choose to go to other schools) are left for post-dec. Does it work otherwise :scared:

I'm sure they will give out more pre dec interview acceptances after dec 3

That's what I thought, as well. And maybe it works that way at other schools. But as far as Houston is concerned, I guess they want to give somewhat equal consideration to those interviewing in January, as well. So they'll give out some (probably not many, according to them) acceptances on December 3, but they'll continue to give them out all the way to potentially May. My point wasn't to scare though, haha. It was actually just to let people know that there is still plenty of time to get an interview to Houston, and also not to freak out if you don't get an acceptance on December 3.

Has anyone who attended a Baylor interview know if there were also OOS applicants being interviewed?

Thanks, when was your interview date? They started reviewing OOS 9/30 and haven't heard of any OOS interviews yet.

Much respect to my dental fam, Smurf, but I disagree. Everyone says that..but her and I were laughing it up and talked about faith in my interview..I guess it was because I already had met her before. She is a nice lady...if you have your stuff on lock you should be good.

According to the website, the management model score is used to consider applicants for an interview. Following the interview, applicants compete based on:

• personal interview conducted by members of the Admissions Committee and additional trained volunteers
• bilingual language ability
• educational attainment of the applicant's family
• hometown or county of residence that has been designated a medically underserved and/or health professions shortage area, with particular emphasis on South Texas
• employment history, especially as it occurred simultaneously with undergraduate academic preparation
• socioeconomic history (educationally and/or economically disadvantaged)
• positions of leadership held
• race/ethnicity
• public/community service "volunteer"-related activities
• "volunteer" activities in health care-related areas
• awards and honors of distinction for humanitarian service
• awards and honors for public speaking
• prior experience in providing health care-related services
• extracurricular activities
• awards and honors for academic achievement
• prior military service with training and experience in a health care related area
• success in overcoming adverse personal, family, or "life" conditions/ experiences
• graduation from another accredited health care-related curriculum
• verbal communication skills-as demonstrated in a personal interview
• commitment/desire to serve in a medically underserved region of the state following graduation [written personal statement, or at interview]
• reference letters or recommendations
• research accomplishments
• applicant's future goals [written personal statement or at interview]
• knowledge of, and preparation to enter, the profession of dentistry gained through observing or volunteering in a dental practice
• Texas resident status, or permanent Texas resident alien

I am aware of this information. What do you think the number is for an interview...

I think if you take a very conservative appraoch it could be 650 for UTHSCSA...and if other texas schools are using the same formula, for Baylor I like think it would be 630 while for UTSD that number can be the average of the above two.

What do you think the golden number is?

Hey guys,

So, it's been nearly a month and half since my interviews at Baylor and San Antonio and I was just getting curious how long it takes for schools to update the application status on TMDSAS web site.

Let me rephrase that question...like when you log on to your TMDSAS account, on the right column, there is 'Pending Actions' and right below that is 'School Rank Preference'

For me, it still reads "You have not been interviewed by any of the schools you applied. Please return to the homepage" although some time has already passed since the interviews....

Shouldn't my status have been already updated by now?? I am kind of confused.

Thanks!

Apparently this is only for medical schools. I was wondering the same thing

Wow it's already been a month and a half for you?? I was wondering the same thing because I interviewed with San Antonio a few weeks ago, and it hasn't updated for me either.

Any updates from Texas schools...are they done with pre dec interviews...???

Hm, I got an interview at SA and I calculated my overall score to be 672, Idk if I'm doing it right though haha.

I think there might not be a magic number? If I calculated it right, my number comes out to 700ish and I still have my fingers crossed to get an interview from San Antonio atleast post December.

Finally got an interview from Texas schools. Anyone interviews at San Antonio 11/26???

You mean u just got it...? At this time?

yeah I got an email on 11/2 for an interview for 11/26 at San Antonio.

San Antonio is filled for Pre-December interviews. I know Houston stops the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
