I called the other day and they told me that the committee is meeting sometime this week to finalize the 3rd round and intend on sending out offers at the beginning of March. Apparently they also said 20 seats are still available. Hope this helps!

I'm assuming they still have seats open, we'll have to wait at least 15 days after the 17th since that will be when they have to respond by and then it'll probably be another X amount of days after that before more invites get sent out depending on how many people turn them down.

This is what Dr. Segura said "We will be still be sending several rounds of acceptance throughout March."
 
Yeah I remember her saying that back in January too but I wasn't sure if that would be true this cycle. I feel like everyone's filling up quicker than usual.

Yeah I agree! I just wish they would have some personalized answers than generic ones. I mean if someone is on the bottom of the list then they should tell them what they need to improve so that they get enough time to fix things in their application than try to cram things in two months before the next cycle starts or take a year off.

That could be true, but don't forget that some of the spots could be being held by the same students, so it might take longer but more spots could become available once people give them up. I gave up a spot at Baylor a little while ago, but I think they for example are waiting until March 1 to send the next round. That is also the day that some forms were due so people who don't fill out the forms will also sacrifice their spot. There's still some time. Good luck to all who are still waiting.

Wow, May 1? that's so late for schools to find out who is holding multiple spots. Also, it just seems so wrong for people to hold multiple spots especially at this point :S

may 1st is considered late .. but people holding on multiple acceptances have reasons since those people may have spouses trying to find prospective jobs near their S.O's dental school. Nowadays its hard to find jobs..

the post above is correct though: Dr. Pierpont did mention that they try to accept those that are not accepted.

it should be april 1st not may 1st since AADSAS posted it.

I remember something a little different... I thought Dr. Pierpont said that we'd hear a response by May 1st at the latest. I think that on May 1st, anyone who hasn't gotten an acceptance will either get a letter of non-admittance or will be put on waitlist, and that their waitlist pool is rather small.

Dr. Pierpont sounds so responsive and involved. Is there someone like him at baylor and san antonio that we can contact to get such a reliable response? lol

I am wondering would you consider sending out application late July a good idea? Because I want to study for my DAT, and I assume taking it around July 10th or so would be a better idea. Please let me know !

The earlier you apply the better. But then again, you need a good DAT score to even be considered. So it's a toss-up. (July 10 isn't the worst it could be, just not the best, either). If there is any way for you to properly study and take it earlier than that, it would be better. If there is not, it is better to study and go with submitting it July 10 (complete everything you can before hand, get all your letters ready to go, so you can submit right then and there). Also keep in mind that application closes end of Sept/beginning of October so that doesn't allow time for a retake if it turns out it is necessary. If I were you, I'd try to take it in April or May, that way if you make a good score, you are ready to submit right at the beginning of the cycle, and if not, you can still retake in July or August and still have a shot. But if you don't have the time, you don't have the time.
 
I was blessed enough to receive an offer from Houston today! Hope all you guys who are waiting to hear back receive good news soon as well!
 
May I ask about the stats of your application and your DAT scores?

Hey! I got the offer at about 9:09 AM this morning and yes I will be accepting! I'm sure there'll be another round because I remember friends getting in last year around mid-March and April. Good luck!
 
Received at 9:09 AM. Interviewed in Oct (think it was the 23rd). You can find my exact stats earlier in the thread but roughly 3.4 overall and 3.2 science DAT AA/TS 19/19. This was my final acceptance (I only applied to TX schools and this was the last I was waiting to hear from). I'm 99% sure I will stay with SA, so in that case I would deny Houston's offer. I'll respond within the next couple of days. Thanks for the congrats. 🙂

I also received the UT Houston acceptance this morning. Ohhhh Yeahhhh!!!! Super stoked that I received acceptance from my first choice.

Stats: GPA - 3.55; sGPA - 3.33; DAT 20AA/24PAT; 18+ dentist shadowed, and an appreciable ammount of time at volunteer clinic (100+ hours).

Interviews: San Antonio Nov. 28th, Houston Dec. 3rd, and Dallas Dec. 4th.

This thread is kind of a bless and a curse. I stopped checking it everyday about 3 weeks ago and that was the best thing I could have done. Good luck to all those still waiting.
 
I had about 100 shadowing hours and I don't remember how many on volunteering but definitely less. Also, I joined ASDA as a pre-dent..idk if any of y'all are in that but it's a good thing to join as a pre-dent or as a dental student.

I think I read on this thread or another that they were sending more early March, which makes sense since they had forms due March 1. So they may have already sent out what their next ones, though I am not sure.

At this point, I don't think there will be any more "rounds" of acceptances, per say. More like if someone turns down an offer, the one next on the list will be contacted. I have to say the chance of being accepted after this third round is very slim...

I ended up emailing Dr. Segura and this is what she said " We will be still be sending several rounds of acceptance throughout March." I don't know if she meant in terms of what mtinamer said or if she meant in terms if what diene said. Can someone ask and see if she responds the same?
 
Those type of responses kill me! I need to know if I need to resign a lease here or start looking for a place to live in SA!
