Hey guys, I'm trying to pick between CUSOM, RVUCOM, and Central Michigan (MD). I really liked all three of these schools A LOT on interviews, so its hard for me to say which I liked "the most". All the schools are decently far away from home (at least 6 hours for each) so I don't really think distance from home is a significant factor. I'm looking into doing the HPSP program so I'm trying to get preparation for military service (RVUCOM has the military track in its curriculum and CUSOM has rotations at Ft Bragg) in addition to a great education. I'm thinking primary care right now but I want to keep my options open.

Just trying to get an idea from some of you of what school has the best program and which choice would make the most sense for me. Also trying to see if I'm evaluating my priorities properly in my school decision making process. Thanks a lot for your help.

Unless you cannot survive in cold, central Michigan.

If HPSP is going to be a big deal, I know the military prep at RVU is really solid. They use cutsuits often in their training, with only 1 MD school (university of MN) in the country offering the same experience. Granted, they told me all of this at the interview, so I'm sure you already know as well, but that's just my .02 as I know nothing about the other schools.

Always MD if there are no extenuating circumstances (Family and the like).

this is an easy decision. central med, it's the safest choice here

just go with CMED...

Thanks everyone for the info. For those who said cmed is best, is it mostly bc of the md degree title or bc of its particular program? Seems like it might be kinda hard to differentiate btwn md and do programs when degree title isn't considered, but then again I'm not very knowledgable about how allopathic curriculum might outweigh osteopathic or vise versa. Any thoughts?

The key difference being that you won't have to spend time learning OMM, which most DOs don't use anyway. You also avoid any real or perceived bias against DOs when it comes to ACGME residency programs.

Thanks for the replies. What about if given the choice between CUSOM and RVUCOM (now on hold at CMED so that option isn't looking too good)?

If you really do want to enter the HPSP program, RVU is the best DO school in the nation for it!
