The essay does not have "Why Harlem"

Oh, really? I didn't read it yet, I got it last night. Hopefully the new essay question is easier than the old 2 page "why harlem, why medicine, etc." essay.

Please discuss how your background, experience or academic program has prepared you for meeting the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine's Mission, Goals, or Objectives. Consider addressing a few areas: Why Osteopathic Medicine? Have you been exposed to a diverse environment? How did you contribute? How have your academic background and personal experiences prepared you for medical school? How were you influenced by a shadowing experience?

Attach your typed response to this application. Limit responses to two (2) double-spaced pages. Make sure to include your name and AACOMAS ID on your response.

You mail it in. Put actual pic on space provided, then staple or glue. That's what I'm doing anyway...

I'm having some issues with the PDF, and was hoping someone could please clarify:
1) Is it meant to have us type our responses in? The version I am looking at doesn't seem to accept text input, so do we write our responses in pen?

2) For campus preference, do we just circle one? What do we put next to "First Choice" ?

3) Under LOR writer names, do we list the names of only the letters they require, or of all the letters we'll be submitting?

4) If I have applied to another Touro campus (this cycle), should I have an ID number? I can't seem to find one.

do you think it would be appropriate to touch upon "Why Harlem?" I know the secondary doesn't explicitly say that. My essay already implicitly states how I'll meet Touro's mission and goals but I don't say exactly "Why harlem"

According to an admissions officer, leos have at least a 40% chance of acceptance. They tend to have leo/virgo bias.

Got my secondary yesterday morning... My last name starts with a "P" if people are still freaking out about that. Debating if I should fork over the $200 for the secondary though unless I'll be pretty likely to get an interview... 3.28ish s/ 3.22c/ 9BS (second time) So obviously I'm cutting it close everywhere, but part of the reason I applied here is because I came close to the averages for once... Looks like that will no longer be the case

This DEFINITELY does not bode well. I'm year of the horse. Horses and rats are totally incompatible.

If they like leos/virgos (WHICH, I might add, my bday is right on the cusp) but my interviewer was born in a year of the rat, will the two astrological factors just cancel, or will there be some kind of explosion?

I have 3 different schools I needed transcripts from, so I went on each of their websites and entered the address they gave in their official transcript request forms. Here it is:

Pain in the tuchas. Just like resending Interfolio documents for EVERY school. Wish AACOMAS had the same setup as AMCAS, where you submit to them and they handle everything else.

I'm lazy and poor and this came a month after my other secondaries. While NYC is tempting, I don't think I'm motivated enough to hassle all of my rec writers and registrar's offices for transcripts and LORs and chalk up the $200. I also read last year there's like a $2000 non-refundable deposit due within 2 weeks of acceptance?! I'm leaning towards not submitting but maybe I'll get a second wind this weekend (along with my paycheck). Best of luck to those applying!

I think you're right because if they truly wanted official transcripts urgently, they would've expressly said so on the secondary to make sure no one missed the message on the email.

what can they do with out transcripts? nothing! aacomas already did the leg work by verifying GPAs and stuff. Med schools just want to have actual official transcript after acceptance for the formality and maybe a small chance of catching a discrepancy that aacomas had missed.

thats definitely correct. I remember a lot of people last year frustrated with their two week deadline for the $2,000

that's a lot of money for a deposit! my bank account has less than 1500 right now. I'm a desperate and poor premed 🙁

Why would you risk not sending your transcripts now if it says you need to do so in the email? It doesn't say anything about waiting until you're accepted. The worst that can happen if you send them now is they arrive early. The worst thing that can happen if you don't send them is they don't complete your file until you do.


I interpreted it to mean send them to complete your file.

i spoke to shawn. sending the official transcripts with the secondary is advised but not a requirement for an interview. you can send them in once you are accepted.

Oh no other schools wanted them with secondaries. I had three different institutions I've taken UG classes at so I needed to request a transcript from each of them.
