Has anyone else received the request to submit a supplemental multiple times? I have gotten it twice since sending mine in. They have given me an interview date, so I guess its safe to assume they have everything?

I know this seems like a long shot to ask this, but I am really anxious to get an interview from this school so I thought it may be worth a shot.

I called admissions today asking why I didn't get a secondary (it is my #1 choice). He said that there must have been some mistake because I was suppose to receive one after he reviewed my file. He said he would email it to me...that was at 11am this morning and I still haven't gotten the email! I was wondering if anyone could forward me the secondary app so I can start filling it out and send it in asap? Or at least the essay questions? Any help would be really appreciated!

I also received an additional secondary application after I already submitted, so I emailed Mr. Sow to see if my application was complete and if so, to schedule an interview. He emailed back saying that the admissions committee reviews the app and then grants interviews... I was under the impression that secondary= interview! Is this not true?? 🙁

Just speculating here:... I think that the review of secondary is more of a formality. Its possible that secondary determines the order in which they invite applicants.

anybody know Issa Sow's email addy? I have been trying to call him but no answer. thanks.

so i'm guessing there's no option for seeking out a student host?

How long did it take to get the interview date after you received the e-mail saying your supp/supp fee was received and they will follow up with an interview invitation?

anybody receive an interview invite WITHOUT getting a complete email confirmation?

That is correct. I submitted my secondary the next day and haven't received a complete email or interview yet. I think the school is just getting more popular and has more applicants to go through. No need to worry yet. Its still early.

Ya... hard not to though.. I submitted the secondary the same day I got it, granted I mailed it from Cali, so maybe it just took awhile to get there.. :/

I'm really happy to be in the first interview group, but TOURO NY is gonna be my first interview this cycle. In the event that I get accepted (hopefully!!!), I kinda feel like I'm gonna be forced to go there. I have another interview Nov 1st and I'm complete at 5 other schools.

Based on the fact that they give you 2 weeks to come up with a $2000 deposit and they tend to give acceptance notices pretty fast, its a tough spot.

Any thoughts?

Why don't you ask for a later interview date?

anybody receive an interview invite WITHOUT getting a complete email confirmation?

I never got a complete email. I ended up calling a week ago to check if I was complete and he said I was, as well as saying the interviews were going out "end of September." Few days later, got the interview invite.

I am not sure either, but I called the office on Tues to check on my status and they told me.

Yeah, I never received a complete email. On August 29th, I got an email saying my supplemental was received. On Tuesday, I called to check my status and was told I was complete. Later that afternoon I got the interview invite. If they only interview about 12 ppl a day, they only sent out 48 invites. Im pretty sure more than 48 sent everything in, so they must have some method to how they decide the interview order.

Stay positive, its early.

I agree with another poster to ask for the later interview date. Also, if you get accepted at your number one choice school or a school you like better than this one...what is a $2000 deposit in the grand scheme of things?

You're right. And Touro is my #1 choice. I live in FL, but I was born in NYC. I love it and I have plenty of family there. I just like to have options and not be forced into anything. The one thing that turns me off is the cost of living. It would be nice to my student loan debt be a little smaller. Everything else about TouroCOM NY is fine with me.

But in all honesty, I'm just gonna focus on my interview. I wont have to worry about all this if I don't get in lol.

Honestly, if you dont live like a baller (or Rick Ross), the debt ends up being 180-225 Thousand. IDK how people get under 200K, but looking at 205K at the end and thats rather par for the course for medical school. The cost of living is a big expense, but its not bad if you agree from day 1 to be spendthrifty whenever you can be. And if you stay under 250,000 you're doing fine in the long run. People rack up 250,000 in most private schools, they just do it with more tuition and less cost of living.

Anyone mind sharing the date that you mailed in the secondary and how long after that it took to receive the invite email?

Thanks, I mailed in my secondary last Thursday and am trying to get the early October interview date.

Looks like Ramen and Hot Dogs for 4 years lol

I mailed my secondary 8/23. I received a email confirming its arrival on 8/29 and the invite came 9/13.

I think the Oct dates are filled already. Nov is probably the soonest we can shoot for, haha.

Agreed. Try and get your secondaries in ASAP. They interview 12 people per session. I believe they prioritize interview invites based on who turned in materials first, but I could be wrong.

Good luck everyone! :xf:

I don't think there are many spots available at this school because the class size is small (150), and they have a certain number of spots for the masters students + people who got deferred admissions from last cycle.

Yeah, but I find it better not to speculate too much. Also a lot depends on the adcom's philosophy in regards to how many people they accept per interview day/week. Its one thing if they come into each day knowing they will only take 3 or 4 out of every 12 until the class is full, then you're competing against each other. However, if they are willing to take any number up to the full 12, then its all about you and the class will fill up pretty fast.

Class size is ~135 as far as I know. I don't think they increased the class size to 150 (to the best of my limited knowledge). And unfortunately you are competing for about ~100-105 spots because of touro's master's program, bs/do program, people who defer a year, people who get left back a year, etc.
Every year the class gets filled up earlier and earlier.

the two weeks rule sucks but you can ask for an extension (of about a week or 2, you can make up an excuse or be like you have an interview at another school in 1 week so you would like to send in the deposit after you interview at the other school; I know Obed was cool with it but I don't know about the new cat.

Got another email from Touro-NY the other day. It was another rejection.

So, ~2 months ago I was rejected pre-secondary.
Last week I was sent a secondary.
A few days ago I was rejected, again. (I had not sent in the secondary or $$)

Although beggars can't be choosers, Touro-NY was not one of my top choices anyway. However, it was highly disappointing to see a total lack of organization on their end.

Got my confirmation the same day (8/29), but still haven't received an interview invitation.

This year we're at 140, with about 60 masters students. But not all of them will make it, and those that do, may reapply and choose not to come here. Also, we no longer have the BS/DO program from what I'm told, and the last of the students who made it are in this years class. And from what people posted on last years thread, there were quite a few that were granted admission for next year from last years cycle, with about less than 10 that deferred from my class to the best of my knowledge.

Overall, if you feel at home here, come here. They may not be the best organized, but if they want you, they really do. I'm sure people can attest to that from last year who had early acceptance for next.

And personally, I didn't know about the extension, but it's always worth a shot. Again, the reason they do that is so they know almost on a weekly basis of how many acceptances they can give out. They're like you all, they want to know for sure who is attending so that if someone turns it down, they can give it to the next person. It benefits you in the long run really; unless we're you're last choice and you interview and get accepted to your first choice months later. But again, will that 2 grand really matter in the scheme of things if you end up going to a school you love?

I think at the end of the day, you just have to worry about what you can control. If you go in, prepared and present yourself well, that's all you can do. This school is my first interview this cycle and I'm glad I'll be going on the first interview day. Good luck to everyone.

Still working on my essay for secondary....To those who submitted and got interview invites, did you answer all the questions/prompts?

I answered all mine.

Anyone wanna share a room at Aloft? lol I will be staying there Oct 5th n 6th...my interview is on the 6th. I will probably hang out a bit on the 6th before heading back. Those who interview on the 6th should hang out and check out the city afterwards. Maybe convince current students to be our tour guide around Manhattan 🙂

Haha I'm sure that could happen but we first years have class until 5 that day and your interview will be over around 1. Plus I can tell you as someone who moved to NYC, despite being here for just over 2 months, I know none of the city unless it was in my Anatomy book!

Central Park is not too far from the Aloft. Its about a mile away. I went for a run to the park after my interview last year. Also, the Aloft is a cool hotel. I highly recommend it.

Does anyone know what the turn around time generally is between verified primary and receiving secondary?

It will probably be different. I submitted June 1 and didn't get the secondary until a few weeks ago.

For the people that have received interviews or received complete emails, have your checks been cashed? I think it's almost a month now, and I noticed my check for the supplemental application was never cashed. Now, I question if my supplemental ever got to them. I need to make a phone call tomorrow.

All I received was an email that they received my cheque and supplemental. Nothing else.

I applied late in the cycle my primary was not completed until 8/18 because I was waiting for my summer retake of a science class and a second MCAT,both of which improved my stats .I was told by AACOMAS that it might take another 2 weeks to verify.Do I still have a chance?Graduated W/Psych degree from a prestigious school, cgpa 3.44,sgpa3.38 MCAT 1ST 25lL v10 p7 b8;2nd 27m v8 p9 b10.Lots of medical work experience,EC,research and volunteer. Are the secondary essays same as last year? Can somebody share this year's secondary? Please help.

I don't think its really late yet. Last year I completed in march and got 2 interviews. (waiting for mcat score) Your MCAT is fine, I don't think prestigious school makes a difference at all. All you can do is wait it out. I still think you have lots of time. One school that I interviewed at in April told us that there were 30 spots left, so hold tight!

I agree, I applied sometime in March last year and schools were still responding. I don't think I sent TouroCOM my last letter of Rec. until sometime in April and they email me back the sameday for an interview.
