hello world...

I was wondering if there are any of you out there that has recently sent in their secondaries to TUCOM-MI and heard back from them. I applied super ridiculously late (I know).... my secondary application file was complete on March 27th and I was wondering if any of you knew how long it takes for the admissions committee to review files and invite people for interviews. It hasn't been too long since then, but i'm sure all of you know how the waiting game goes.
I recently talked to Dr. Haight about applying so late and he was all for submitting my application because there were definitely some spots available. Maybe they just want my money 🙂 . Thanks... Cheers

Dr. Haight isn't a money guy. If he said there's spots, then he meant it. Turnaround is usually pretty fast from secondary to invite(I had my invite a day after they got my secondary!)

Hang in there. If your stats are okay, then you could be fine. They said they plan on interviewing through June, so hope isn't lost. Good luck to you!

hey snish,

dont give up hope =) my secondary was completed end of february and i had an interview invite a week later. i went to the interview a week or so ago and dr. haight explained that there are spots left, but they are rationing out seats..meaning they put more people on the waitlist these days. dr. haight also hand picks who gets interviewed which makes you feel extra special. Keep in contact with touro and best of luck!! 🙂

all the ppl who interviewed at touro-mi, do you guys think that dr.haight plays favorites during the interview process? i read somewhere on the forum he does but just wanted to get more opinions

i think dr. haight engages in more conversation with some more than others..but i'm not sure if it is necessarily favorites..it seems that everyone he hand selects for an interview is his favorite anyway =) i personally did not feel that he either really liked nor really disliked me...but at my interview dr. haight did seem to connect better with other students.

Here's my take...

Dr. Haight is a very outspoken, very extroverted guy. He's really enthusiastic about being in a position to select the next generation of physicians. To that end, he's likely going to show preference for those folks who are equally as excited to be the ones being considered. If you show up with a big chip on your shoulder, like you really are above everyone else there, then he will knock you down, because he doesn't want you ruining the experience for others, as well he SHOULD. I believe he also thinks that being a physician is mainly a people-centered, humanitarian enterprise(which it is), and to that end he likes to see people that are personable, outgoing, and bright. If you're extremely shy and introverted, your emotion can be mistaken for arrogance/egotism, and that's never good. Shy in an interview is okay, just speak up when spoken to.

I really liked Dr. Haight and thought that he made a very positive impression on the group. I hope you find out the same.
