I know there won't be any movement for a few weeks. But since someone has to start one, it might as well be me 😀 .

Post if you are waitlisted and when you get pulled off the waitlist.

I didn't get in off the waitlist...I just wanted to say that Tufts has been completely unresponsive whenever I've tried to contact them by mail or e-mail. I withdrew from Tufts by letter, but they never sent me anything confirming the withdrawal (I was accepted in December). So I sent them an e-mail, which they also ignored. Then I actually had to call the financial aid office to tell THEM that I had withdrawn, because the admissions office didn't bother to tell them, and they were sending me frantic notices about accepting my loans, etc. I hope they actually KNOW I withdrew! I'm going to call them tomorrow to make sure...what a pain in the a#$! They're almost as bad as BU!

ive had the same experience with them although i'm still waitlisted. i had to call them today to make sure that my w/l response and my letter of intent were received...good luck to everyone. i just want to know already!

I've been waitlisted since May 9 and I totally hope I get in because it's my first choice.

hey all

i sent a letter of intent last monday, ill call tomorrow to make sure they got it... i sent it via email as that was what they requested.

gluck all, its my number one choice as well, i hope we all get in

anyone know how many are on this waitlist, and about how many will get in?

hey guys i just sent my letter of intent on friday and got an admissions today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so the waitlist is moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!woo hoooo ! good luck to everyone!

WOW! CONGRATS! how were you contacted?

Yipppie! Finnally!

HAPPINESS TO YOU Calipaww!!! I hope I hear good news too because I called and they said that movement will occur this week. I hope I get good news too.

hey guys! they sent an email saying that i would recieve my admissions pack shortly! hope that helps!

bump for those who didn't see this last night

hey guys

i called yesturday about my status, the lady asked for my SSN and she said that some letter were being mailed out yesturday. She checked my file I guess and said that I wasn't reviewed yet. so i was lik...when will my file be reviewed? shes said that the files are taken out randomly and reviewed.

luck be a lady

ps. hey bridgie you and I are in the same boat for downstate ad tufts, i'm also waiting for temple. gluck to you.

Do you guys know if they always send out e-mails to people who are taken off the waitlist and then accepted or could you get accepted and sent the package and not get e-mailed that you are? If the earlier, then I'll be religiously checking e-mail like crazy. Good luck to us all.

bigredstress, i am on the Temple waitlist too! too funny, hey, your name wouldn't imply that you are a red head would it?

godblessedme, i think we would all get emails and a letter to follow at this point. i say that becasue that is what they did at the last mailing for the waitlist. my friend got the waitlist email but never got the packet, lost in the mail...i check email at least 10 times an hour. not getting much work done. have to rmemeber there are probably 3 more months of this....

hey guys,

so i got the email (5/28) informing me of my acceptance. my first!

calipaww--congrats! i'll see you there

Congratulations bigapple!! Your first acceptance must be such a relief. Now you can relax and enjoy the summer.

thanks bridgie for the input. yup, i check e-mail like 10 times an hour too. hopefully something good will come out of it.

damn, i so wish i had gotten an email...argh...

so which school have you guys decided on as of now while we wait for these waitlists? right now its Upstate for me.

bridgie..., i would chose tufts, downstate, temple over upstate. not necessarily in that order forthe last two but Tufts is def. my 1st choice

oh yea any my name implies surviving a stressful four years at cornell ie. corn-hell

I'm going to Jefferson if I don't hear from UMass, Dartmouth or Tufts (in that order).

hey im going to jefferson too if i dont hear from tufts. its not even that tufts is soooo great...i just want to stay in boston w/ my friends and where im already comfortable....either way i'll be happy though...just rather be tufts.......please email me already!

Right now I am signed on for NYMC but if I get into Tufts I will choose it over NYMC. If I get into Downstate, however, it will be tought to justify the prcie tag of Tufts. I am torn...I think I would be happy at both schools....I think I am pulling out of Temple. I don't want it as badly as the other two although I was really excited after the interview.

so they just pull files randomly?

there's no rank to the waitlist, and it's pretty much luck of the draw?

i kinda find that hard to believe... anyone else have more info?

As BigRedStress said "i called yesturday about my status, the lady asked for my SSN and she said that some letter were being mailed out yesturday. She checked my file I guess and said that I wasn't reviewed yet. so i was lik...when will my file be reviewed? shes said that the files are taken out randomly and reviewed."

Here is what I think happens: They pull a stack of randomly selected applications, review them and select the best few to accept of the waitlist. Then next week, they pull another random stack, but not including any from the previous week. They must guage it so they are sure every application will be reviewed eventaully, and if necessary they eventually go back to the beginning of the pile and go through it again, selecting the ones they like best.

This sounds relatively fair, but you are still lucky if you get chosen earlier rather than later.

from what i understand, they pull people off the waitlist based ono the demographics of the person turning down the acceptance (i.e. if an african american from north dakota who went to Rice university turns down an acceptance, they will seek out an african american from rice and north dakota to pull off the waitlist.)

man, i think either way kinda sucks. i don't know, i'm just very bitter about the whole tufts delayed decision for months just to be waitlisted process.

Hi Guys,
Actually I spoke with Mr. Slavin and he said that all applications are reviewed when spots open and he said that there has been in the past and this year also, there has been good movement off the waitlist and not to stress too much over it. So Hopefully, that's a good sign.

For those of you trying to make up your mind about Tufts... I sorted the 2003 matchlist by Hospital, and then by specialty. Formatting pains prevented me from combining the 2, but here it is for what it is worth:

So since they sent out the first emails last Wed do you think it will be a weekly Wed thing? 🙂

I don't think it will be just a wednesday weekly thing because the first e-mails were sent on tuesday, may 13. I hope we all get in.

Has anyone received any good e-mail news today since wednesday typically seems the day that Tufts lets waitlisters know if they're accepted or not?

havent heard anything. i called them today to check on my application and the woman said i was still on the w/l. i don't see what the point is in calling them since they don't rank their w/l. i think we have the right to know what are chances are of coming off the w/l...guess they dont...

hey
got an email today from Mr. Slavin saying that he is delighted that i have accepted a position on the wait list. and thats all... did anyone get this? did the post-waitlist accepted kids get this befroe they were accepted?

well, im glad he's delighted; i'll be delighted once that accepted email arrives.

YES, I received that e-mail too and I hope that this is a good sign as well. I would like to know also if those waitlisters who were accepted received that e-mail beforehand as well.
Good luck to all and i hope we all get in to where we would like to go.

me three, although, i had sent him an email about two weeks ago asking if they had recieved the waitlist confirmation letter. hopefully, something happens soon though. best of luck to everyone!

hi i was waitlisted and recently accepted but i never recieved an email, i dont think the two are related, hope this helps! but i do think it is worth it to send a very well crafted letter of intent. i sent one and two days later i got in! good luck !!!!

congratulations to all who got in! For those who would like to see the whole matchlist, you can find it at www.tufts.edu/med/medissue. there will be a link to it right on the front page. as you will see, most of the "lesser known" hospital matches were for med-prelim and surgery-prelim rotations for a year before students went on to a bigger hospital at which they matched for residency. If anyone is interested in how the match at Harvard affiliates went at Tufts, Brigham + Women's, Mass. General, Beth Israel Deaconess, and Boston Children's are considered to be the main Harvard teaching hospitals.

hey i got the email too today. i dont think it means anything. i think its just wrong for them to use the word "accepted" in that email though...my eyes lit up when i saw it...but yea...still on the w/l...

calipaww - any tips on how to write a "well crafted" letter to them? i've already written them twice (only once after getting w/led) but i'm still waiting like i have been since my interview in december...i'll take any advice...

Any new news from anyone out there? Still waiting.

Had anyone called and asked if their file had been reviewed since being placed on the waitlist? If it is true that they randomly pull files, can they possibily let us know? I assume they wouldnt let us know jack squat.

Keep it real....

No word yet but it's still early in the week. There doesn't seem to have been any movement since 5/28, at least from SDNers.

Has anyone heard anything today? Happy e-mail perhaps?! I'm thinking of sending in another letter since I've just turned in two manuscripts for publication. Can't they see how badly I want to go to their very expensivo school? Happy waiting to all!!! 😛

anyone have trouble getting through to the admissions office?????????????????????

hey calipaww, the admissions office is closed on thursdays. (that just shows how much i keep in contact with them if i know their days off:laugh: ) Anyways, i hope to be your classmate if they would just let me.😱

i think this has been mentioned already, but i believe when someone drops out of the class, they try to find someone of similar demographics to fill the spot. so it's really a crapshoot.

unfortunately for me, asian males prolly aren't in very high demand. =P

i just got in today (6/13) off their waitlist. i called them and found out...apparently they sent an email but i haven't gotten it yet. good luck to everyone else

Congratulations Armando!!!! I hope we all receive news like you.

I just received my acceptance letter (got off the waitlist), dated June 12, today from Tufts.

I will be turning it down though, good luck to everyone else!!

I'm going to Einstein.

thanks guys....good luck to you all...i found out just because i happened to call them today...apparently they sent me an email but i never got it...so try calling them i would say at least twice a week. it seems like the move on their wait list real fast
