For my waitlisters, how are you managing reapplying. I just feel like I have to submit really early to get a head start but Ive been counting on the WL and reality is slowly starting to kick in. Feeling so stressed about getting all LOR and essays rewritten in such a short time.
I have a MD only A and am on a "high priority alternate" list for an MD/PhD program. I really want to be a physician-scientist. I love this institution's research options and immediately hit it off with the PD and the graduate department hosting the labs I want to work in. At first I was like "I am obviously not going to turn down a shot at medical school just to reapply for MD/PhD" but now I really am considering it if I don't come off this HPA. So, that wasn't really a great answer and not same as your situation because I am not handling it well either. The idea of reapplying makes me nauseated. BUT, it is so early in waitlist season for regular MD - you have good odds!!! Manifesting the best for everyone.

Do we think waitlist movement will happen right after May 1? or is it more school-specific? My waitlist program starts May 27th so I am really hoping to know asap

Do schools still accept people off of the waitlist who don't submit letters of intent? One of the schools said in their waitlist email that the only update they accept is a letter of intent. It really stresses me out not sending them one because are they only going to accept people who send a letter of intent to them?

Ive been obsessively reviewing the last few years of school threads on here hoping to have a realistic idea of what the schools WL movement looks like, and my optimism is slipping. It doesn’t seem many come off the WL but I’m hoping it’s more people not continuing to update posts here. Hopefully we get some good news next week

This may provide you with a better idea than last years threads. Though self reported by schools, it’ll be more accurate than self reported people on SDN (probably…?).

Yeah I’ve looked at that several schools most of the schools I am on the WL basically says varies by year. And one school told me they don’t know where the data for their school is from since they don’t share that data with AMCAS.

For those also on multiple WLs (rip)--hypothetically, if you get off more than WL at/around the same time (wishful thinking ik but a girl can dream), how quickly do you have to select plan to enroll? Is it just going to depend on each school's policy? Do you like, need to not *accept* the A offer from one until you know which of the two you would choose and right after you officially accept the A (within the timeframe the school gives you to respond to the offer ofc) you have to PTE? Trying to have a game plan just in case things all start happening at once 😵 I do not want to fumble the bag if I get lucky enough to get the bag in the first place ahhhh (I am losing it)

Best of luck everyone !!!! This is brutal <3

It depends on each school's policy, but you can wait as long as you'd like within each. For example, school A gives you 5 days to PTE and school B gives you 10. You can PTE for school A on day 4, then decide later that B is better and turn down school A for B. Only gets tricky if some schools put in that you have to withdraw other offers if you take their A, but that is usually an exception and not applicable until CTE.

If you are accepted off the WL do most typically make you withdraw from all other waitlists?

Yes, they tell you you have X days to fully commit and withdraw other apps.
Wait what?? I thought they would just make us PTE and we could stay on WL until their CTE? Are there specific schools that do this? It would be extremely uncool to force people accepted off a WL to CTE before people with straight As have to CTE.

Only on two waitlists so small n value here, but both programs do not force me to withdraw all other waitlist positions until the CTE deadline day. I am not able to hold multiple A's if accepted, so would have x amount of days (5 for my schools) to accept their A and turn down my other A. Basically just a straight swap if I understand correctly, but not sure how it works with other programs.

This is correct. Until you CTE, you can stay on as many waitlists as you want.

i thought schools didn't get the PTE list until tomorrow
No, they are able to see the number of students that have selected PTE once it is available in February and are made aware of specific students that have selected PTE after April 30th. Schools now have specific students and numbers that PTE for their program.
It should be noted that most programs don’t rank waitlisted students so it’s not as easy as them seeing they need to fill 20 spots and taking students 1-20 on their waitlist. They will need to meet with their board and make decisions based upon what students have declined their A and how to fill that niche/background in a holistic manner.
