Okay! So I called the admissions office and a very nice lady on the phone told me that 99% of the time we will not hear back about the waitlist before April 15th. Also, sometimes summers are very quiet and people who have accepted their offer of admission keep with their decision and other times people will pull out left and right. If people decide during the summer to not go to Tufts, they will keep telling people on the waitlist through the summer up until classes start (as people drop out).

Also, she was very very clear in saying that if you were accepted at another school, TAKE IT! 🙂 You can always decide to come to Tufts and just lose that little bit of money to the other school(s) (I know, sometimes it's a lot of money to us right now but still ... not in the grand scheme of things!).

Reviving this thread ... so I am very bummed about being waitlisted at Tufts. Yes, glad I was not rejected, but it is about 5 hours from my home and I've aways dreamed of going there! 😀 Anyways, does anyone have any insider info on the waitlist? I see that about 5 people declined from just this board so does that mean that maybe we will hear back before April 15th? I'm going to call the admissions office Monday.

I LOVE UPenn but it's tempting with the $12,000 a year Maine contract to go to Tufts ... if I can get in.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the waitlist...I spoke with admissions yesterday about the purpose of the Tufts waitlist. If they accept 100+ people for a class seating of ~80, then what purpose does the waitlist serve? They couldn't tell me anything, of course, but I'm wondering if anyone on here has any info/insight--??

A lot of schools accept significantly more students than the number of seats they have, especially for OOS. I know that Kansas State offered admission to 3 OOS students for every 1 OOS seat that they had. I heard one school (can't remember which) does 4 to 1 for OOS. That's just the way the numbers go. Though they probably don't make all of those offers at the outset, hence the waitlist. Remember, just because some place might be the #1 choice for you, for a variety of reasons someone else might prefer another school.

just fyi the house has since been filled....best of luck to everyone for a great summer and hopefully meet you in the fall!

Bump..

any IS alternates hear yet? i know there has been a lot of OS activity..congrats to you!

Hi everybody!
My name is Irina and I've been following this thread for a while, but only got the courage to write now. I've also been put on the Tufts waitlist... very disappointed, since it was the only vet school I've applied to 🙁
Have any other waitlisted candidates heard anything from admissions?

Cheers,

Irina xoxo

I was on wait-list at Tufts and found out last week I got in, but have decided to decline. Hopefully that will mean another spot open for those of you still on Tufts wait-list... good luck!

I am declining admission too - so another spot open for you guys. 🙂 I'm OOS.

Hi again!

... just wondering if anybody has heard any more news from Tufts? ... the waiting is killing me... it's like my life's PAUSED right now 🙂
anybody have any optimistic thoughts? I'm thinking no news is good news 🙂

cheers,

irina xx

I'm in the same boat, Irina. --I had thought they would call replacements from the alternate pool yesterday, but I haven't read anything new in this forum, nor have I heard anything from them directly.
😕

I know... But I feel like there should be SOME activity going on, right? It's kind of suspiciously quiet... Have you talked to the admissions by any chance, Catnapper? This lady in an email last week told me they admitted 14 people off the waitlist, and were waiting to hear from those... let's keep our fingers crossed 😳
cheers,

Irina xx

I just called the admissions office and had to leave my number. 😕

I just spoke with admissions and they told me that of the 14 alternates selected, 12 have made their deposits, and 2 they're waiting on. If you go by what other people on here have posted, though, it seems like there should be fewer deposits...hmmmm...
😕

Well, I declined and let them know about it. I didn't make a deposit. I hope you hear good news soon! 🙂

Could the person have meant 12 people have responded (and the ones who accepted sent in deposits)? That's so weird. Good luck to you Catnapper, I hope they figure it out and get back to you with good news soon!

I guess to clear up these and other mysteries, I must let the reigns fall to one of you...as of this morning, I've had to forfeit my place as an alternate, because the admissions office did not respond to me until it was too late (i.e.: last week) regarding the acceptability of a graduate biomed course I took. 🙁 Needless to say, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but c'est la vie!🙄
Good luck to the rest of you though!:luck:

Hey everyone! I thought I would bring back this thread because I have a question for all of the Tufts applicants:

Do you know how quick they are at updating your status page? They had told me I was missing a transcript so I had two of them sent about 10 days ago and my status page still says "missing." I have confirmation from the school that it was sent, I'm just worried that it might have gotten lost (again!) or something...did it take anyone else a long time to get their status changed? I'm starting to worry a bit now that people are getting interview invites (congrats to all of you by the way!!). Thanks!!

Thanks for bringing this thread back. Tufts is way there at the top of my list and now that I just realized others are getting interview invites, I'm starting to freak out a bit.

I would email them. Patty Finger at admissions is super responsive. Maybe she can check up on it for you. I also had a missing transcript and contacted them. She found it and responded to me within 24 hours.

Good luck.

Hello Tufts Forum

I have a random question... I'm new at this and am highly addicted already (I'm currently finishing my BS).

When you are wait listed for a Vet School, does that mean you are getting NO financial aid?

Thanks

Hi All,

Just an update for those waiting to hear from Tufts. I called the admissions office to make sure they had recieved my fall grades and the really really nice lady who answered said "Decision letters will be mailed out this month." Woo hoo!

AHHHHH they're killing me !!! Just got this email:
Does this mean more interview notices are being sent out or is everyone getting the same email!?!
😱😕:scared:

Greetings from the Financial Aid Office at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine!

The Admissions Office has informed us that you have applied for admission to the Class of 2013. If you plan to apply for financial aid to help pay for the cost of your veterinary school education, please review our financial aid instructions and application materials as soon as possible. These materials may be found at our website:

http://www.tufts.edu/vet/admissions/financial.html

You can follow the links for general information about the various types of financial aid available and for application instructions and materials. In order to be considered for institutional financial aid, all application materials must be received by our office on or before Friday, March 6, 2009. Please note that the Tufts financial aid application cannot be submitted electronically, so be sure to allow time for it to arrive in our office via the US Postal Service. Finally, please be advised the required 2008 tax documents are also due by the March 6th deadline; this is much earlier than the Internal Revenue Service's April 15th filing deadline, so please plan accordingly.

If you are selected for an admissions interview, you will be able to attend a financial planning information session while you are on campus that day. We will be able to answer many of your questions at that time. We advise you, however, to begin the financial aid application process prior to your interview.

If you have questions about the financial aid application process after reviewing the website, please feel free to contact us at: [email protected]

Sincerely,

Financial Aid Staff
Tufts University
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine

I got it too. I think everyone gets that email. But I also think (hope) that we will be hearing soon about the other interview dates...

ooooh ok, sigh. Thanks for the heads up!
:luck::luck::luck:

Hi,

I received the financial aid email as well. Still no idea if I have been chosen for an interview. Now we can pass the time filling in all the paperwork! 🙄

We should hear any day now about interviews--I interviewed last year, and I received my invite letter on 1/14. (I'm OOS, but not far.) I seem to recall that IS people started getting theirs around the 12th.

But in the meantime: :bang:

I am glad everyone else got that financial aid email .... Does anyone else think that it's weird that we have to fill out all this paperwork and get our taxes done earlier when we don't even know if we have an interview yet, let alone got accepted too. I am also applying to Penn and Cornell and they don't want anything to do with your financial stuff until after they offer you a seat and you accept. I think it just means a lot of unnecessary work for their financial aid office. But I guess it's just something you gotta do ... and here I thought I could just focus on interviews!

You too, guppy? I wonder if we were there on the same day?

I got my interview letter today 🙂. I am interviewing on the 4th of February. Second time is a charm? last year I got waitlisted, close but no cigar. Maybe I will be more relaxed going into the interview this year, knowing Ohio wants me 🙂. Last year it was my last shot, two words for you..verbal vomit! Good luck everyone... Oh yea, I'm in-state

Congrats all you Tuft-interviewees! Massachusetts rocks, although cold!!

Question: What date were your interview invites postmarked? I'm OOS (Virginia) and I don't know whether to start being bummed or get psyched to stalk the mail tommorrow...Also, was snail mail the only notification or do they update a status page as well? Thanks and good luck!!! :luck:

I am in state but no invite in my mailbox today.....sigh

Don't worry yet... I practically live right down the street. They could have walked it to my mail box...I would certainly check your mail box tomorrow.

I am OOS (PA). I received the letter via snail mail today (1/12). The letter was postmarked 1/9.
Best of luck to all of us! This is a long waiting game! But it will be worth it in the end!🙂

For those of you that got snail-mail interview invites, was the letter sent to your permanent address or your mailing address? Just wondering which mailman I should be stalking!! 😉

Stalk the mailman for your current mailing address (not your permanent one). That is who brought mine.

Thanks elefante7!!! 🙂

You too, guppy? I wonder if we were there on the same day?

Thurs. 2/7 last year--how about you, Catnapper?

To answer other questions posted today: My letter was also postmarked 1/9. But to those still waiting to hear, like Penny: Please don't give up hope yet! I just searched for last year's interview thread, and additional people were notified via e-mail another 2 days after the initial letters & e-mails went out. It's always possible that some people have already been accepted elsewhere (or will be accepted soon) and decline their Tufts interview.

So keep the faith--I'm sending tons of good vibes & best wishes your way!😍

Congrats all you Tuft-interviewees! Massachusetts rocks, although cold!!

No update to my status page yet, just the letter in the mail (my permanent & mailing address are one & the same).
And NH's friggin' cold as well...😱

Good luck to you too, tpad!:luck:

Thanks for the encouragement, Guppy. I will hold out hope for the next few days. I am looking forward to going home after work and checking my mail box. 😳

Anyone receive an interview invite to Tufts in the mail today? (Tuesday).

Congrats to all the invites yesterday!!

No mail for me yet in middle-of-nowhere Virginia 🙁

However, I just got a small package from my aunt that was mailed on 1/8 from Camrbidge, MA (right next to Boston) and it arrived yesterday 1/12. So I remain hopeful that tommorrow is my day...:meanie:!!!! Can you tell I am obsessing just a lil bit? Maybe after then I will accept reality that perhaps I did not get an interview 🙁 +pity+

I contacted Tufts admissions asking if everyone got the financial aid application email and they stated, "Yes, every single applicant."

Thurs. 2/7 last year--how about you, Catnapper?

Looking at my calendar, it looks like it was 2/11 for me. Still no word this time around, though. I think there were more apps this time--there were 600-something-er-rather last year, and this year it was ~700. So that may put me out of the running...
+pity+

Does anybody know what the minimum prereq course grade requirements are for Tufts (if there are any)?

Don't give up yet!!!
I had just about gave up hope after seeing so many interview offers posted yesterdy... but got the letter today!! Mine was dated 1/9, so that means it took 4 days to reach me 🙄
B.t.w. I am in California, but in a metropolitan area.

I'm in CA and have heard squat. Uh-oh...🙁 It sure will be awesome to have been waitlisted last year but not even get an interview this year...

Don't give up yet! I called and asked if all of the Tufts interview invites had been sent out and the lady I spoke with said that they are still in process and will be so for the next 1-2 weeks. She also said that no news is good news too. Unfortunately she also said rejection letters are on their way. 😱:help:

Hi all, I just joined SDN, after having watched this forum for a while. I received my letter on Monday, and will be in Grafton Feb 4 for the interview. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Cheers.

-R

Yeah, I'm biting my nails waiting to see. Tufts is one of my top choices too but the truth is if I get in anywhere I'll be super happy. My mailman arrives at 4 pm at my house and it drives me insane now waiting. I keep going outside and checking even though I KNOW nothing will be there. Pavlov's dog learned faster than I do -lol-

So do you either get an interview or you get rejected? Do they have like a wait list letter too or do you just not get anything? I want to call the secretary and make her check up on my status but I'm controlling myself.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Any news from anyone today? I swear, this application cycle is even more stressful than last year's--I wasn't on SDN much then (just a part-time lurker). This time around, I'm stressing for everyone else on here as much as I am for myself!

And congrats, KittyRex! So psyched to see your name on the interview list today!😀
