Last year I found out my fate the same day as everyone who was accepted--but I wasn't. So there's still hope!!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! :luck:

Just think....
1.) Patience is a virtue.
2.) Good things come to those who wait.

I'll be thinking of all of you & checking back in a bit later. 😍

:luck::luck: GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS!!! :luck::luck:

I'll be thinking of you today!

Alternate... now I have 242384809 more questions!

I'm an alternate too, but will decline my alternate status - maybe that will help the other alternates...

alternate for me too. It's finally nice to hear something after waiting since DECEMBER with no news lol

alternate. thats not frustrating at all

Judging by the Final Decisions thread, it appears as though at least 2 other acceptees (rara avis & great potoo) are going elsewhere. So there may be room just yet.....😳

I'm pulling for all of you--had that all-too-familiar tweaky feeling when I opened this thread just now.

Anybody know if/when Tufts' alternate list moves? I personally haven't heard of anybody who got in off the alternate list, but I'm sure somebody else has!

Hey, another alternate here. I'm not sure how much the list moves, but at my interview I did talk to a third year who got in off the alternate list. There's some hope!

According to last year's "off the waitlist" thread, 2 years ago they accepted everyone off the alternate list... so maybe the good luck will skip a year? 😛

I wonder if they rank after April 15th, or do it on a case-by-case basis.

I want their DVM/MS in LAM!!

:xf::xf::xf::xf:

I got waitlisted today too. From UNH. Tufts is my main goal but im on the waitlist at Ohio as number 11 and am interviewing at UPEI.

I guess we will see what happens, but if I hear from Tufts I definitely want to go here. Thanks for all your help looking stuff up guppy73

The alternate list last year moved as well - my friend in first year says that he has a few classmates who were alternates.

I can't imagine that their alternate list is that large . . .

According to the letter, they do not rank, but re-review all the files. So, I'm guessing that just after April 15, they have a sit down and discuss all the alternates.

At my interview I talked to a student who said her class had about 20 off the waitlist... I also emailed admissions for more info in terms of how many were accepted and how many waitlisted etc. Will post if I hear anything.

Has anyone heard of anyone getting rejected after their interview?

Congratulations to all those who got accepted. 😀

Good luck to the alternates!:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

😍😍😍
I am in as well!!!
I never regret flying for more than 15 hours for the interview!!!
Congratulations everyone!!!

Congratulations!!!! I am impressed that you flew in for an interview!!! 😱

not this year, so far . . . but it's not reasonable to assume that they place *everyone* who interviews on either the acceptance or alternate lists, is it? maybe it is.

Hey everyone! I was accepted at Tufts (I: 2/10 OOS). I probably won't accept so there is at least one more open spot for you alternates who really want to go there! I'm waiting to hear about the PhD program before I can make any final decisions.... 🙁

Just talked to admissions. Patty was very nice and answered most of my questions.
1. They don't give out the # of admits and # of alternates
2. Not all who interviewed were accepted or alternated
3. Probably won't hear anything until after April 15th
4. The adcom will meet as often as needed after that to fill the class
5. They will contact alternated by mail at first, and as the summer goes on they will call or email
6. you will have 2 weeks to decide if offered a spot
7. School-based financial aid may be gone by that point
8. In her 20 years she has seen as few as 1 or 2 and as many as all the alternates accepted

I think that is it. Hope it helps!

Thanks for calling and sharing the info! #7 really sucks 🙁

i was waitlisted yesterday but got off the waitlist and was offered a spot this afternoon by phone!!!! im so excited, im putting my deposit in the mail tomorrow, now i cant wait for the fall-- looking forward to meeting you all! gooooood luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear :luck::luck::luck:😀

Congrats, KatDVM--what amazing news (and maybe a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for you)! So encouraging that it's moving already--I hope that the great news keeps coming!!!

If you'd like, you should start a new thread: "Off the Waitist: Class of 2013." There is already a thread called "Off the Waitlist" from previous years, but it is old and long, so it was asked that a new one be started...

Congrats!!

Wow! Now I'm going to start getting anxious again! 😀

Were you IS or OOS?

Probably a good sign for the rest of us if they already know they are short this far ahead of the commitment deadline.

Does Tufts have to keep teasing us alternates by sending us invitations to club symposiums and applications for joint programs? 😛 Kidding, it gives me hope.

hey~~ to reiterate someone's earlier question,

does anyone know waht the march 27 thing is?

If your refering to the accepted students thing it is basically a day to meet other students that were accepted. Find out more about the combined programs. If you know you will be coming to tufts you could start to look around for housing (mostly just to get a feel for how far away you would like to be) the housing website will be up in June. There was also a group of students that answered questions one from each year.

I emailed the admissions department and was informed that the information went out on Friday. They needed to wrap up the acceptances, and were sending invitations/information all in one batch.

Do you know if the invitation is extended to alternates?

ooh thanks for the update!! =D i will join in all these tufts v. ____ threads soon... but i want to hear from the other schools before i sit down and force myself to make a decision. i keep going back and forth and i really want your guys' input!!! good luck to everyone!

okay so i haven't heard a WORD from these guys since i applied... should i assume i got rejected? not even an interview invite...

Hey all!

I was wondering how beneficial any of the current students thought the Admitted Applicants Reception was for them. I have something else already going on that day and I don't want to cancel anything before gathering as many opinions as possible! I really want to go the reception to meet everyone else who was accepted and start making friends, but as usual my luck has put two important things on the same day. One of my concerns was trying to find potential roommates but I've heard good things about the housing website that goes up in May/June. What does everyone else think?

I think you would be fine missing it. If you are particularly interested in one of the combined programs I would just get the contact info for the director of that program so you can ask them questions. The housing list works just fine to find roommates and housing so I wouldn't worrry about that.

does the admitted applicants reception thing give you a good feel for the school? like, can we tour the school again etc? i'm having a really hard time deciding between here and purdue, and i'm hoping this second trip out there will help!! i'm excited to meet you guys!

I'd like to know this too- I'm coming out for it to aid in my decision process.

Does anyone know what appropriate attire will be for the reception?? Casual is what I'd assume?

It gives you a decent feel for the school and involves a panel of students one from each year that you can ask anything of. I don't think it includes a tour but depending on when it is I could take a few people around. Or if there are particular places you wanted to see we could do that. Attire was casual--your already in no need to dress up!

In short if you already know your going to tufts it's nice to meet potential classmates but missing it isn't the end of the world. If you are still deciding I would go unless it is financially difficult.

FYI, I'll be sending my "thanks, but no thanks" letter into Tufts in the next day or so. (I love Tufts, but nearby grad school for my SO didn't work out). I hope that opens a spot for one of you!

Thanks!!!😀😀

Big congratulations to you!! You got admissions from tons of great schools!!👍👍 Which one do you want to go??

Thank you so much! 😀

I'm not really sure yet!🙁 I am going to visit the schools again to figure that out.

How about you? Have you decided?

Has anyone received their financial aid stuff for tufts yet? I'm leaving the country for two weeks on thursday, so I'm getting nervous! :scared:

Nope, I'm anxiously waiting too!!

If you're worried you wont be here to receive it in time to make a decision or something, you should just give the office a call and explain your situation to them. They might be able to give you basic info over the phone. The Financial Aid office is so nice.
