Does anyone know when Tufts sends out their rejection letters? So far no one has reported that they were rejected. Anyone know when last year the rejections went out to those that were no offered interviews?

Thus far, my week has held a cold/laryngitis, a rejection letter from Tufts, and the death of my grandmother. How miserable 🙁. Thank goodness for a wonderful family and a beloved boyfriend who knows just when to make the 2 hour drive to visit with chocolate and cuddles.

To those of you who got invites, however, congratulations! It is a wonderful accomplishment to have gotten that far, and I am looking forward to hearing how the interviews go. Tufts has taken care of several of my pets, and I can assure you that you'll be in with wonderful people if you get accepted.

To others who did not make it to interviews, keep your hopes high. I'm seeing this as just another reason to approach my interviews at other schools with an attitude of absolute energy and determination -one school or another (or one year or another) we will be vets someday!
 
What if we haven't heard anything? As in no letter of any kind: interview, wait list, rejection.

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

That's a very good attitude to have, Willow! And as someone who didn't get a single interview last year and this year got 4 interviews and an acceptance, I can say that you shouldn't give up hope for any reason. And even if it doesn't work out this year, you can always do more to improve your application and try again! I literally had started feeling like I would never get there, and then this past 2 months have been like a whole new world for me. If you want it bad enough, you can try again and make it happen!
 
I haven't heard anything as well either. I called earlier this week and it seems this is not uncommon and that they are still working out who gets interviews, rejection and acceptances. Just keep :xf:.

I just got an email saying all of the letters were mailed, the last ones on Tuesday.
 
Rejected. I'm not going to take this one easy. I've been aiming for this school since I set my eyes on it and I failed. 🙁

ok, that makes sense, because I talked to them on Monday. So, I guess by this coming Tuesday we will find out in the mail. :scared:

Hang in there! I know that sounds lame and i'm getting tired of hearing it myself, I've 0 for 4 so far with 2 schools left Tufts and Penn, and I have already been rejected from my IS school so i'm not holding much hope. Don't look at it as a failure, just a set back. Reading over some of the threads from people who have repeated this process has really boosted my morale. Although the rejection letters are very hard to recieve.....

But hang in there!

Does anyone remember the name of that thread that had various student contacts for different schools?

I'm not sure if Tufts was on there, but I wanted to ask a current student what their experience was like. For some reason, there doesn't seem to be many Tufts students on SDN.
 
Did anyone else who has an interview next week get the reminder email about sending them the photo?
I ask because I replied with the requested information last time and I'm wondering if they sent it again to everyone (even those who already sent their stuff) or if they didn't get mine. I don't want to obnoxiously spam them with repeat information.

Hi long time lurker, first time poster. I just received an interview invite for Feb 10th and am trying to plan my trip out. For those of you that have traveled to Tufts before what do you recommend as far as airports and then actually getting to the campus. For reference I will be coming from CA and have never been to Mass. I received the information from the school on transportation and lodging however I wanted to know what some of you thought and recommended. Thanks so much for any advice!!!!
 
Got an invite to interview in the mail (along with about 5 different emails from them too...normal?) last Thursday and I'm interviewing tomorrow! I'm excited, but I got into RVC and my heart is really set on going to London. We'll see if Tufts can change my mind...

Thanks!! I was invited to the early interview, was on 1/20 in NYC. I got an unofficial invite right after the lunch/presentation and just got the official email yesterday. My official snail mail invite is supposed to come next week or the week after.

So there is still a glimmer of possibility for those of us on hold?! I am really hoping for the opportunity to interview at Tufts, but with the interviews starting I was getting worried that I would not have the chance. So thank you for the hope lei325!

Hi Savannah,

I would fly into Boston Logan Airport and then take public transportation (the T) to north grafton. I don't know where you are planning to stay but its pretty easy to take the silver line bus from the airport to south station and then take the commuter rail to north grafton. The MBTA's website (www.mbta.com) has a useful trip planner feature that might come in handy.

Thanks for the information! I am hoping to stay with a student but have not heard back yet. Is it fairly easy to navigate the public transportation and while carrying luggage?

Yep, it's pretty simple.

When you get out of the airport terminal, there should be a silverline stop right as you step out the door. The Silver Line is pretty much a bus even though it's a part of the subway station. I believe you can just go on board and pay in cash if you don't have a charlie ticket/card. Just keep a few dollar bills on hand for this ($2/ride)

Here's info on the Silver Line:

Once you're on the silver line, just stay on until you get to south station. Just get off and exit the "T" (subway) area by going through those little gates. Then go upstairs to the main area and you can get your tickets for the commuter rail. You want to go outbound (the only way you can go really) on the Framingham/Worcester Line. The Grafton Station is the second to the last stop.

Here's the schedule for the commuter rail:

Commuter Rail's a pain in the donkey... but it's not too bad if you compare it to a MASSIVE cab fare you would have to pay to get to Tufts.

The T can be a bit confusing at times because it's sometimes hard to tell at what point you're going inbound/outbound if you don't know your way around, and the green line can be kind of tricky too. But as long as all you need to do is get to Grafton from the airport, it's really not that bad.

As for luggage, Silver Line is pretty much meant for transport to/from the airport so it's not bad at all. And as long as you're not going during rush hour, the commuter rail is very roomy.

And it's slippery around here, as least right now. Be careful on your tour! (Might want to bring an extra pair of shoes with good traction, if you're planning on heels for the interview part.)

All good advice. Also keep in mind that going from Boston to Grafton is against the commuting rush so there are less trains. Check the schedule carefully!

For those of you that interviewed already, did you bring extra clothes to change into for the tour? Was there anywhere to store your luggage? Thanks for all of your help!!

Hey guys, I had my interview this past wednesday!

I didn't really see many people take them up on their "wear something comfy for the tour" but people did change into different shoes to make walking easier/morecomfortable. Most of the days activities take place in the administration building (besides the tour). They have coat racks for everyone and I think you could prob leave a suitcase there or perhaps behind the front desk if you need to.

They give you a couple of options for the tour- you Can see the small animal hospital and farms (this is what I did and there is quite a bit ofoutfoor walkingbut not terrible) or you can see one or the other.

As far as parking is concerned you have nothing to worry about. They have signs for where to park and it's right in front of the administration building.

Just FYI everyone was really great and wicked nice. I had the first interview of the day at 10am and my interviewers went out of the way to say it was going to be very conversational and that they just want to see if you're a good fit for their school. So relax! It was really very pleasant. Oh and my interview lasted about 45min 🙂 hope that helps!

Don't stay at the Econolodge at 380 Southwest Cutoff. I have seen a lot of hotels in this price range in the past month, and this place is not nearly as nice as the others. The room wreeks of cigarette smoke and it is a "non-smoking" room, there is a water stain on the ceiling of the bathroom, the shower is more of a heavy "mist," and it is generally shabby.

The cab ride from Grafton station to the hotel is $38 (yes thirty-eight)! When I heard this I thought that I had booked a room at the wrong hotel. However, it was only a 6 minutes drive. I was told it would have been twenty dollars from Worchester station (which is further away), but because the cab is located in Worchester, I had to pay to have it come to Grafton pick me up, deliver me, and then drive home. Also, there is no place to hide from the elements at the Grafton Station, which is important when you have to wait twenty minutes in the freezing cold wind for a cab. (The train from South Station in Boston to Grafton was a little over $8 and the views along the ride were pretty great.)

The cab to the interview tomorrow morning will be between $20 and $25. And then getting back to the train station will be around $30.

Although, I really enjoyed the train ride, it would have been cheaper and more convenient to rent a car.

If you have to take the train and then a cab, I would confirm that Worchester is a cheaper departure station. I was also told they have an actual station that you can stay warm in while you wait for your cab. If you want to investigate, here are the numbers of the three cab companies that serve this area:
Yellow cab:508-754-3211 (they charged me $38 to take me to my hotel)
Red cab: 508-792-9999
Worchester cab: 508-366-8880

Where are all the Tufts folks who interviewed today? I am dying to know how it went! I'll be heading out there (from Westwood) first thing tomorrow morning and I am STOKED.

Thank you! I made it off the east coast JUST in time last week after being in NYC, but I'm dubious about getting out before the storm hits Cleveland, aka home, this time. I'm supposed to leave wicked early Wed. morning, so keep your fingers crossed for that as well. I have my first orgo 2 test that afternoon!
 
Tufts interview this wednesday! I am def gonna be trapped by the snow. Luckily, is only a 2 hr drive for me from home to Tufts! 😀

y'all, i am so ridiculously exhausted right now that i feel like i could sleep for about three weeks straight--but wanted to add to the general consensus that the tufts interview day is, well, pretty awesome. my interview was this afternoon, and i was around for the whole day's worth of stuff, which really gave me a solid idea of what the school is about. and, like everyone has said so far--people are so so friendly and warm!

the interview itself was relaxed, chatty, fun. i'm from new orleans originally so the saints' win last night took some time to rehash 🙂 i was asked some questions that were perhaps unexpected, but not at all difficult. i really liked that they didn't necessarily ask the obvious things and took interesting directions with stuff. mostly i couldn't believe how fast forty-five minutes went, and wish i had longer! everyone i talked to said the same: low-pressure, and really enjoyable. genuinely felt like they really wanted to get to know you.

came up with my mom; flew into logan and rented a car for about fifty bucks total from yesterday afternoon to this evening (i'm over twenty-five, which might make a difference). stayed at the holiday inn in auburn last night, which was clean and pleasant and close, and then at the sheraton near the airport tonight (yay priceline!) cause our flight out is so ridiculously early tomorrow. judging by some of the other stories about the prices of cabs, renting a car might be the cheaper way to go...

also, my interview was later in the day, so i went in jeans/boots/warm stuff and changed just before the interview. and i definitely wasn't the only one. almost everybody at least had a comfy change of shoes, i think. the tour did spend a fair amount of time outside so i was glad to not be in heels...

I was planning on driving from NY to Tufts tomorrow morning for my interview (only a 2hr drive) but now I don't know what to do because of this lame snow! I didn't want to have to cancel the interview! Bah...I hate snow. Guess I'll have to leave earlier and just figure out if it's safe enough for me to drive. My little Civic doesn't handle too well in the snow.
 
I LOVED TUFTS!!! 😍

Everyone was really friendly and I love the fact that you get to work with the animals right away. I also like how they have a wildlife clinic and farm! I don't think my interview went incredibly well but it was not at all because the interviewers were intimidating (they were super sweet). I was just nervous. Good luck everyone!

Were you there yesterday? I interviewed in the afternoon! If ONE MORE PERSON asks how my interview went I am going to start screaming - I mean I THINK it went well, but I was so nervous I couldn't think straight, and I spent the entire drive home agonizing over all the things I forgot to say. Ahhhhhhhh *dies* :scared:
