Tuskegee c/o 2017 Applicants!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm still thinking about applying here! I do like the school, but the separate ap and fees are kindof putting me off. I think what it's going to come down to is if I have enough time and money to do the ap after vmcas and my top choice schools are finished. we will see!

This school is high on my list. Did you see the OOS tuition?!?!?!

Yay Tuskegee!! One of my top choices (behind my IS, UF). I seriously need to step my app game up! Once summer classes are over, VMCAs and supplementals are my #1 priority =)

Comes down to that separate app and fee for me too. It is a contract school so great tuition cost👍

what's up with the hand written statement of interest, thought? -____________-"

and this is probably the only school that asks to email a photo of myself. but what the hayyyyy... i'm doin all of it 😀

Yeah. It's weird. I agree. But if I could get out of school with around only 100K in debt......

so, just rechecked the pre reqs for all the schools I'm thinking about applying to and there is one I overlooked for Tuskegee that I'm not planning on taking. So I guess that takes me out of the running for Tuskegee. Good luck to everyone still applying!

What is the pre req? My friend who is attending this fall didn't have poultry science but you have up to your second year in vet school to fulfill it. I believe she said she can take it at Tuskegee too .

It's a biochem lab. I don't have the time or the will to take it this year 😛 and I didn't see anything about poultry science... but I don't have that one either

Not applying yet (maybe next year or the year after that!) but I'm definitely interested to see how it goes for everyone! I've been looking into this school a lot, I'm not familiar with the south, but I'd totally go if I got in! Best of luck to you all! 😀

I am having trouble finding the email where we should email our passport photo...the application has so many inconsistencies and missing words. I'm getting a headache.

Pathetic website indeed. The online application is a travesty. I wish I could just hand-write the entire application on paper instead, because the online one is giving me a frustration headache.

I emailed Tuskegee about their Biochem lab requirement (not even offered at my school) and they said having Organic Chemistry II w/ lab is sufficient.

Too bad the application is still an eyesore.

Does anyone know on the supplemental application, page 4, if you can enter more than three veterinarians you've worked with, or places where you've obtained animal exposure?

^I am having the same issue. I have tried multiple ways to enter more but I can not. This application is very frustrating 😡

I called the school yesterday and spoke with Amy about it. She said to just put everything else on an extra sheet and mail it in with the hand-written application.

Wait, hand written APPLICATION?! I was TOTALLY under the impression that it was all computerized except for the essay. Do I have to print out and send my entire app? Or still just the statement of interest?

^ I was under that impression as well.....

I thought the only things that were handwritten and sent via mail was the statement of interest and the LORs. I am hoping she means attaching an extra sheet if it can not fit on the online application itself. (???)

Extra sheet to go along with the hand written statement of interest. Again, I would ask Amy before you do it.

I'm just wondering why Tuskegee doesn't get a lot of love? Is it because most IS'ers goto Alabama?

No idea, but it must be nice to have two vet schools in your state. I don't even have one! I'm applying to both, but Tuskegee's tuition is way more attractive 🙂

I think park of the reason is that Auburn is considered the state vet school and while Tuskegee has IS spots, it's still a private school so IS tuition is less at Auburn (21K at Tuskegee verse 17K at Auburn). As far as OOS, it's not a huge difference but Tuskegee is a little less(36K for Tuskegee verses 41K for AU).

Anyone know when the interviews are for Tuskegee this year?

My Pre-vet group from the University of Arkansas is driving right past Tuskegee (and doing a tour of Auburn) on the way to the Pre-Vet Symposium on February 29. They had interviews that time last year. Talk about convenient.

i didn't get an email but i got a status change...is that right? >___>

My status changed, but I only noticed because I got an email. It said pretty much the same thing as the letter on the status page. Did anyone else get an email? I don't want to be the weird kid...

I didn't get an email, I just checked my status once I saw everyone posting on here. Hopefully I will see some of you there 🙂

Hi everyone, new here!

Just wanted to post that I have an interview at Tuskegee. It was definitely the most... unique application, but one of the vets I work for went here and she convinced me to apply! My interview is on Tuesday the 19th (still waiting to hear about the time so I can book my flight, etc).

I called Amy and asked her to give me an early interview so I could book my flight. She also verified the date I picked. Maybe give her a call. She is very nice.

Good idea, thank you! Amy has been great so far- she called to verify the day I picked but said she would send out a time later. She said times are from 8am-1pm so anytime is fine, really, it sounds. But I'll call her tomorrow and see what I can do, thanks!

Anyone have any interview on Feb 20th???
I'm from NY so I can't wait to see the south!
There will be tours after the interviews too-- so that's awesomeeeee
I definitely want to see as much as I possibly can!

I'm on the 20th as well!! I'm from FL and NJ so I can tell you that it is quite different down south (although I've never been to AL). My parents and I are gonna stay down there an extra day to check out the Tuskegee/Auburn area and to hopefully speak with a real estate agent to figure out which areas would be appropriate for me to have an apt. I'm incredibly nervous for this interview as its currently my only one (damn Western taking forever!) but Tuskegee was always one of my top choices.

I just canceled my interviews at Tuskegee and Auburn, but one of my vets I work for went to Tuskegee.

She told me whatever you do, DO NOT live in Tuskegee. That was her advice.

I will be canceling mine today as well. Also the two vets in my area also said DO NOT live in Tuskegee. One vet knew a guy who tried it and it didn't turn out well for him at all. He recommended living in Auburn bc you will be working closely with Auburn anyways. Good luck everyone!!!

Are there any other in state applicants out there? I'm from Birmingham and have an interview on 2/18.

I'm in-state and will be there on the 18th as well, mid-morning. I'll be going there from the Phenix City area (crashing with the in-laws)

My interview is the 18th as well, first thing in the morning. I'm coming from California and will be staying with a current SVM student. Maybe we will bump into each other.

Cool. Maybe so. I've been bumped to 10:40, but of course I'll be there an hour prior, as they ask, and will be patiently (sort of) waiting.

Good luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow =) I'll be down there on Wednesday!!

Leaving tomorrow for my interview on Tuesday. It's at 9:50. Looking forward to it, but not the drive! Good luck to everyone.
