Last year everyone heard back on the 20th of Jan.. dundundun

Anyone else a contract state applicant to TU?

And the year prior they heard on the 14th! I'm stalking my status page like crazy.

No contract state here- although I'll pack up and move real quick if it would help. I'm just a regular ol OOS

The offices at TU are closed on Monday, don't forget.

I'm hoping we hear by tomorrow! Is it via email or status page only?

I forgot about the holiday. I suppose my email can have a day off 🙂

Last year it seems that they used the status page and the year prior they just emailed. I'm checking both but my suspicions are that it will be the status page.

Do we need to send fall transcipts?

I am a Contract state resident (KY). And I also sent my fall transcript in. Hope that helps!

Alright guys so I just spoke with someone at Tuskegee and they informed me that their Director of Admissions is out of the country till the 22nd of January. That being said they can't make any decisions without his Ok. In addition she informed that we will be receiving notification of our status via the online status page and not email.

Thank you for calling them! Now I can take a mini-vacation from my obsessing.

Does anyone know how many applicants they usually receive? I can only find their class size of 70 (contrary to the 60 published in the VMSAR book) but cannot find any data on prior applicants, statistics, etc.

Hello,

I hope that all of you had a Happy New Year (Kind of hard relaxing thinking about all of the Vet. school interviews/acceptances I bet, because I was like that last year!) I am a first year at TUSVM and I realllly enjoy it here, so that is great that ya'll applied and I wish you luck! For interview invites, you will need to check your status page for any updates and that goes for acceptances as well, but you should receive your certified letter of acceptance before they update your status. Dr. Eljack, the Dean of Admissions is still taking a vacation and I do not think he will be back until the end of Jan. As far as the number of acceptances...I am not sure how many students were accepted and how many students attended the serp program. I believe that 15 students give or take were in the serp program, and I think that they accepted 7 or so. So they automatically accepted like 60 students and then at the end of the summer, they added the serp people to the class. Serp is a summer enrichment program. I beleive that you actually take several of the classes that first years take and whom ever has the highest grades gets a spot (don't quote me on that though). I am not sure how many people they put on the waitlist. I hope that some of this info. helps you and if you have any questions, feel free to pm me. oo and if you do get an interview.....It is no sweat. The professors are extremely nice and they make it really relaxing. Good luck!!!!!

Something tells me we might be waiting quite a while longer than this week...

You know something or just stuck with the feeling of impending doom? I'm not sure about you but I'm certainly feeling defeated at this point. I'm trying to keep up hope as I'm very interested in Tuskegee, but after you get a whole bunch of "thanks but no thanks" letters/emails it becomes tough.

I've not heard of the serp program. Is it something that all applicants are considered for or something entirely different?

KEEP YOUR HEADS UP!!! Dr. Eljack is back, so it may be any day now or at least I think so! For the serp program, I believe they pick like +/- 20 people...not sure though. It is for students that they think have the potential, but may have a low gre score or gpa what have you. I am assuming that they look at all of the applications and then go from there. You will here from them sooner or later...hopefully sooner than later though! Good luck and when we find out when interview week will be, I promise I will let yall know!! :luck:

Thank you for the insight!! It's nice to have someone in the know that's BTDT with them!

I shall now return to hitting refresh on my Tuskegee status page... 😀

Somewhat off topic, however regarding Tuskegee does anyone know the tuition cost there? I find their website to be not user friendly. I have looked for a page of pre-req's as well and with no luck. If someone does of the answer to those questions regarding tuition and pre-req's please let me know!

Thanks!

Thanks!

I just pulled this off their tuition/fees PDF:
Veterinary Medicine In State
Full-time (12-19 Hours) $9,710.00
Each Credit Hour over 19* $530.00

Veterinary Medicine Out of State
Full-time (12-19 Hours) $15,180.00
Each Credit Hour over 19* $825.00

Those are per semester charges

And their prereqs according to the SVM site:
SUMMARY OF PREREQUISITE COURSES
Organic Chemistry w/Lab............................4 HRS.
Biochemistry w/ Lab.....................................4 HRS.
Physics w/ Lab...............................................8 HRS.
Advanced Biology (300 Level or Above)...9 HRS.
Animal Science ** .........................................9 HRS.
(they require basic ANSI, nutrition, and poultry science)
Mathematics...................................................6 HRS.
English..............................................................6 HRS.
Social Sciences.............................................6 HRS.
Liberal Arts.....................................................6 HRS.
Elective.............................................................8 HRS.

I also know that they have a 2.75 cum GPA minimum required without any form of alternative eligibity or grade exclusion. All retakes are averaged.

Hope this helps!

Tuition this semester was around $14,000. We have a meeting coming up and they are going to let us know what the cost will be next year. I am an out of state student, so I can not tell you what instate tuition is. I do know that you had to graduate from an AL hs to be awarded in state.

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now.. what airport do we fly into?

Does anyone know how many people they interview vs accept (60ish,right?)

I'm shaking right now...I can't believe it..😍😍😍😍😍😍

Birmingham and Atlanta airports are nearest. I'd go wherever you have the cheaper flight.

Thank you! I sure hope so- got a lot of preparing to do over the next month. Very excited!

This is amazing.. I was :xf: for you too!

What dates are you thinking? Maybe we can meet up one night.

I'm thinking the 25th.

I'm thinking the 25th.

I requested the 27th so I only miss 1 day of class. I plan on driving in on the afternoon of the 26th. My hubby went to Huntingdon College (right near Tuskegee) and is from the area so he wanted to show me around a little. If you're still in town we should grab food/beers/whatever.

I wish I had some idea of their stats. I can't seem to find anything on # interviewed, offered, waitlist speed, etc. Maddening! The more I read, the more I get my heart set on their school. I wish I knew all the nitty gritty details.

So far only three of us listed that we have interviews. With an applicant pool of 3 we should be shoo-ins!

Hmm.. I'll have to see because we were thinking about taking a trip down to New Orleans after my interview.. but maybe maybe..

I'm hoping to find the stats somewhere and if I do, i'll post them!

So much preparing to do now...

I had a vet tell me that if a school can see past my shakey start and grant me an interview, that I'll be a shoe-in. I was 😀 at that comment.. esp since now I actually have to step up!

I got an interview too! 🙂 I requested the Saturday. Probably flying into Atlanta on Thursday or Friday and renting a car. The Kellogg hotel was recommended to me from a current student. Congrats to all those with interviews! 😀

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who received an interview invite! VERY exciting! You have all of the right to be smiling from ear to ear! As far as airports, when some of my classmates fly home they use either Montgomery or Atlanta. Montgomery is a 30-40 minute drive and Atlanta is a two hour drive. Now for the hotels, I had a HORRIBLE experience at the Kellogg. The rooms were extremely hot and the key system did not work (which I am sure it works now) but anyways our room was not even cleaned when we went in. Long story short, we got put in a room on the suite side that was REALLLLY nice. You are at an advantage staying on campus bc it is so close though. Auburn has a lot of hotels right near I-85, so all you would have to do is hop on the interstate and get off at the TU exit...like 20-25 min. from TU. GOOOOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU at the interviews. They are VERY relaxing and calm. Just have a conversation with them like you were at the dinner table with a professional client (corny, but true)! Wear a suit that is clean cut and and pressed. Don't wear anything revealing! Read the interview feedback section and read other school also so you get a feel of the questions they may ask you. Practice in front of someone...I did that a million times in front of one of my professors, mom, boyfriend, and friends. When you do come to TU, don't expect a sit down restuarant in TU...Auburn is the place to eat if you do not want fast food. SO CLASS OF 2014....Hope to see you and once again GOOOOOOD LUCK!!!!! You are halfway in the door!!!!:luck:

Congrats Rileydog and welcome to the forums!

I am on cloud 9 today. Best.day.ever! ( That was of no help to anyone but I just had to say it!)

Anyone have an idea if we will be receiving additional info about the interviews? Should we expect a hard copy snail mail or something or is the electonic invite letter it? It makes no mention of tours, pizza party, etc but does state "we have included" on the letter. It makes me think that they are mailing something too.

Am I completely wrong?

I can't remember if we got a letter in the mail or not. You will get an official time on when your interview is after you select your day. After or before your interview you can go on an optional tour. As far as a party goes...I doubt it...unless they are going to have one this year...Not sure though. Last year they had refreshments for us when we were waiting.

This is the part I was primarily curious about. I'd really like the chance to see the school.

Also, does anyone know of an applicant that did NOT receive an interview? Any lurkers out there that could chime in?

Yes, I know I'm obsessing. 😛

I would like a tour as well. In other news..my flight is book to ATL so watch out Alabama....here I come!! Woohooooo

I am also booked into Atlanta, on Spirit. They upped their prices from Friday, but I wanted to wait until at least the day was confirmed (Saturday). Can't beat $101 total roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale. Staying overnight Thu. in Atlanta, playing tourist, them driving down Friday eve.

Are y'all going to stay at the Kellogg as they suggested or drive from Auburn?

Also, GACowgirl- do most of the students live in Tuskegee or Auburn? Any ideas or suggestions? I'm going with the positive thinking=acceptance theory right now 🙂

Hey! I would suggest living in Auburn or the surrounding towns. I live outside of Tuskegee. Tuskegee is not the best town to live in! Really the only people that live in Tuskegee are the ones that went to undergrad there or knew people already. I would suggest looking on Craigslist for a place. We will set ya'll up an yahoo email account so you will be able to email your future classmates and you can see if you want to room with someone. OOO and I just remembered an interview que.....How do you plan on paying for school...Have you started looking at loan compaines. Have you started looking for places to live...I got asked all of those in the interview...I was stunned when they asked that bc I was thinking to myself.....giving me a seat in the class...maybe! lol That is a good attitude to have....go into the interview believing that you know you have a seat...CONFIDENCE is the key!!!!

 I've already been on Craigslist looking and corresponded with a few leasing places in Auburn, so I suppose I can answer "why actually, yes" to that question.

Thanks again for your help!

We are staying at the Kellogg on Friday evening. The rate is supposed to be $80.

Hi everyone! This is my first post. I've been reading through the forum for a while now but I finally have a reason to join in. So, I have also received an interview invite 😱 (btw Congratulations to all of you that have interviews) but I feel as if I'm needing more information. Is there going to be a tour? My status page says my interview will be from 8:00 - 12:30 but the invitation letter says 9:00 - 12:30. So, what time am I supposed to be there? Maybe I'm just stressing too much since this is my first interview but I just feel very unprepared. I know I'm going to have to call on Monday to have these questions answered. In the meantime though, can anyone shed some light on my concerns?

Hey,

You will get an official time on when your interview is going to be. I believe they emailed us last year. I do recall my status page saying form like 9-12, but then they emailed me with my time slot of 11. If you want to get prepared for the interview, scroll through the interview ques. in the interview feedback section. Don't stress! It is not as bad as you are thinking!!

I got an interview 🙂 i'm pretty excited..it's feb. 26th

Congrats sharpwhistle32 and diamondzNpigs! We're one step closer to our dreams!

I had an epiphany the other day. We have all worked very hard academically, experientially, etc for years to earn the chance- to work even harder for 4 more years, plus internships, residencies, and then careers! Who does that? Are we sadists?

@Crittergal: Sadism explains it all hahaha.

But yeah.. the longer it takes for Tuskegee to finish the scheduling and finally send out official times, the less likely I'll be able to go for the interview 🙁. The tickets from NJ during the time slot I can afford to take $40 within two days... Madness!
