Hello, I just submitted my University of Arizona vet application! Does anyone have any experience with the supplemental assessment and how it works? On their website, it mentions a "virtual interview process". Thank you!

Congratulations! Yes- I just finished the KIRA ASSESSMENT last week- you have 10 days to complete it and it is a KIRA assessment-(when you first click the link you register for KIRA and get practice problems) it’s online/like zoom- and representatives from UACVM ask you 6 questions (pre recorded) and you have 1 minute to answer each question. I think you have 1-2 mins in between each question if you want (or you can click to go to next Question). Then there are 2 written questions where you have to type out your answer. I think you have 7 minutes to type your answer. They are heavily ethic based type questions. I recommend practicing (when you click the link to KIRA it will let you practice -with how the process works- and you can come back to it- later to complete the actual assessment). I thought -The tough part is answering in one minute. Also use the STAR method for answering the questions (Situation- Task- Answer- Result) - I found practicing my answers in front of my FaceTime camera on my computer and timing my answers really helped. Good luck 👍

Thank you! That really helps! I'm so nervous yet really excited and hopeful. How long did it take for you to get an invite for the supplement assessment? I thought they opened supplements up on August 30th?

I turned in my VMCAS on 6/23 (applying for LMU Spring cohort so 6/30/24 was the recommended date for submission)- I received invite for KIRA from UACVM on 7/23/24. I applied last year to UACVM and the timing seems the same. I was then invited to UACVM MMI in October. And they rolled out the first admissions on 11/17/23.

Does anyone know in previous years how likely it is to get an interview if you don't submit the app until the VMCAS deadline? I guess it may vary year to year but just curios if anyone has insight! I am trying to decide if its worth applying as my app won't be ready for submission for a few more weeks at least.

Congrats on being invited to UACVM MMI in October!! Good luck with your applications! I also applied to LMU but for the Fall Cohort so I am still waiting to hear back from everyone. How long did it take you to hear from LMU for the interviews?

Thank you 😊. I did my CASPER for LMU prior to 6/30- before I submitted my VMCAS- then I got the invite for MMI on 7/29/24. Fingers crossed for us both. Good luck.

Hi! I am about to start my first year at UAZ and last year I applied a week before the deadline and the year before that I submitted the day of the deadline. Both years I got KIRA and then MMI invites. So timing doesn't matter as long as you submit and are verified.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it ❤️

Hi! Does anyone know when we receive MMI invites? I just submitted my Kira Assessment! I am now anxiously waiting to see the outcome of it.

Did anyone else receive an MMI interview invite but then find there's no available dates to schedule the MMI using the link provided?

I just got the MMI invite and when it first pops up you only see the calendar with a green box on the date - but no times. If you click on the green box in the date it will pop open available times (at least for me ). Congratulations- and good luck.

Congratulations on the MMI invite!! Were you notified via email or through the applicant portal? My portal currently states: "Thank you for completing your Supplemental Application. We will update you once we have finished reviewing the application."

What is the timeline for receiving an MMI invite after completing the supplemental application?

This is my 2nd time applying as OOS- last year- I did not get the MMI invite until 10/6/23- (and got waitlisted in March 2024) - this year- I got the MMI invite today 8/21/24- (I did the supplemental KIRA on 7/30/24) I got an email- with a link to pick a date/time for the MMI- good luck 🙂

Congratulations, that's amazing!

I wonder why they are doing the MMI invites earlier this year. I submitted my Kira Assessment on August 26th so I am sure that it will take some time before they update my portal. Did your portal change at all before being offered the MMI invite? Mine just says that they will update me once they have finished reviewing my application and that my supplemental was received. Thanks again!

For the Kira assessment, are questions behavioral in the sense of "what would you do if" or are they more reflective as in "tell me about a time when?" Thanks

Hello everyone! Good luck with this application cycle! I just started my first year here at UA and am available for any questions or concerns or to talk! You all got this!

I submitted near the deadline and got an interview in December. It's a rolling admissions and invite system, so as applications come in, they send out requests.

It's a rolling system so they can come out to people at various times throughout the cycle.
Hi, thanks for the insight! Congrats on your first year at UAZ, that's so exciting!!
For those who received MMI invites, did you get this application status update: "At this time, your application is being reviewed for a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI)."? . Im starting to worry because I feel like I messed up on one of the questions 😩😩

My portal said exactly what you wrote for a while (I submitted really early) and then I received an email being invited for an MMI and the portal changed to reflect that. I think they understand that these assessments make students nervous and wouldn't worry about that!

Thank you!! I just got placed on MMI hold, I am hoping that is good news!!

Good luck on your interview, I am sure you will do really well! Thanks again for the support - such a nerve-wrecking process.

Hi all! I submitted my application 8/26 and received the KIRA assessment today (8/30). Can anyone provide some insight into what the questions will be? Any advice is appreciated!

Does anyone know if U of A is still doing rolling admissions after interviews?

Hey! I am a current first year student at UAZ and I also am a student ambassador. This year they have changed the admission process from a rolling one to a static timeline. So all decisions will be sent out on the same day! I hope this helps! If you have any questions please reach out! I will answer what I can or direct you to who can answer if I cannot.

So we won't hear about decisions until after all invitees have completed their MMIs? Thanks!

When is the kira assessment due?
The due date of your kira assessment should be in the email you received inviting you to complete the assessment. Historically you have had 10 days from the time stamp on the email to complete it.

Submitted my Kira assessment yesterday, looks like MMI invites will be sent out earlier than last year! (Sept-Dec) compared to (Oct-Feb). OOS Second time applying. Best of luck everyone!

It took me approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. 60 seconds to answer, 45 seconds to prepare. 7 questions, 1 written. Same as last year!

took mine yesterday. How'd you think it went second time around? Felt like my answers weren't that clear but I got my point across which was good I guess.

I felt the same way honestly! But I was invited for an interview, so I'm sure it went better than you would expect.

For those who have been invited for the interview, when did you schedule yours? Mine is September 20th

how long after submitting your KIRA talent did you get an MMI invite?

I submitted my supplemental Aug 16 and then was invited to interview on Aug 29!
Wow! That was quite fast! So about 2 weeks. I wonder if they will continue with that trend or if it will just depend on the application load. Last year I submitted Sept 17th, and did not get an update to my portal until Nov. 7th at which point I was put on the MMI waitlist until my rejection in like February? really bad timeline haha

Hey Friends! Does anyone know if they will be conducting interviews the same way they did last year? (Approx. 100 a month until interviews end) or if they will be doing it differently since they are no longer doing rolling admissions? Also! I believe they sent out invites once a week?? Has anyone heard anything about interviews since August?

Interviews will still be done in batches, but they will be done in a more consolidated timeline. So it will still be similar to how it happened last year, you just won't have to wait as long to interview.

Thanks for your response! So they'll still be x number sent at the same time. Do you know if it will be weekly/bi-weekly? I believe that is how it was last year but I could be incorrect.

It seems like they have updated their website to show their new admissions process and it currently states that they will invite up to 300 candidates to interview.

Yeah, I was under the impression that they interviewed way more than 300 people last year. It also states that the decisions will all come out February 19th, but I'm wondering if they will leave people hanging that long if they don't receive an interview? Last year I submitted 09/04 , Supp on 09/17, MMI Review 11/07 and Hold 11/09. Radio silence until January when I got my rejection. I would much rather hear a "No" early on than be strung on until the very end.

Clarifying question- does every applicant get invited to do the KIRA? Or just a selected group? I got an invite. I added U of A at the very last minute so I haven’t dug that deeply into the nuances of their process.

I believe every applicant that meets the general requirements is given the supplemental.

Every applicant that meets the GPA requirements will receive one, and every applicant will be placed on a MMI waitlist after they complete the Kira. Only 300 will be lifted off that waitlist by the end of December.
