Hard Rock is tight... its a really poppin place... lot of young people.. but kinda off the strip. Probably good to stay on the strip and then head over to Hard Rock for one evening.

Just an idea.. haha.. Tao at the Venetian is cool too. Vegas is just fun in general. July 4 is gonna be HOT!!! I wish I could join you guys
 
Oh that's interesting. I don't really know much about Vegas.

OK it pains me to even ask this but...how horrible is Planet Hollywood or Westin? I only ask because I have some hotel points and apparently this only includes either planet hollywood or the westin. It seems like the westin is further out...but Planet Hollywood seems...horribly tacky.

Is it at horrible as I'm imagining? :laugh:
 
If your gonna go to Vegas, you should stay at fun place. In order to have fun at Vegas you'll want to spend money. Whether it is clubbing, food, drinking, or gambling, vegas requires spending, and if your gonna be spending whats a few extra bucks to stay at a nicer place hahah... Plus its not have bad if a lot of people just crash in one room. Ive had 8-12 people in one room once.. not bad at all...

Heh I know, but I'll have more money for the gambling and the drinking this way :laugh: Plus I'm flying in from the east coast so my expenditures are already higher from that.

Actually I looked it up, apparently Planet Hollywood (horrible cheesiness aside) is brand new since they just completely renovated the Aladdin and made it into Planet Hollywood. And it's right on the strip...

Oh...apparently they might still be doing construction though for the renovation though (not sure, I don't live in Vegas so I can't really tell), apparently the inside is more or less finished but they're still upgrading the exterior of the hotel?

Anyways, that doesn't sound too bad other than the name...really wish Starwood would have named it something other than Planet Hollywood since Planet Hollywood just reminds me of the tourist trap in Times Square lol.

I looked how much June 30-July 5th is at Hard Rock and it's $995 for a room, apparently June 30th adds a lot of money to the stay for some reason. I'll probably stay a little longer than just the weekend since I'm coming from NYC so I might as well spend a little extra time there since I can't just drive in.

Anyways I don't really care, I'm down for whatever hotel so long as it's not a dump and isn't so expensive that I can't eat anymore lol.

Planet holywood is the old Aladin which is a pretty nice place to stay ... we can easily have 6-7 people per room! we will only sleep like 3-4 hours per day anyway!!!

LOL i didnt know that... I noticed something going on with Aladdin.. nice.. weekends always cost more especially forth 4th of July. You guys want to go later in July? I'm sure it'll be cheaper

Well planet hollywood sounds nice. I don't really have to use my points or whatever if you guys wanna go a cheaper weekend or something (it's actually hardly worth the points as it is since it's pretty cheap just to book the room).

The room wasn't even that bad for july 4th weekend, I think it was under $600 (like 550?) for June 30-July 5th, a regular 2 queen bed room which is good for at least 4 people officially (in case you actually
care for sleep 😛).

But a cheaper weekend is ok with me too, but we should decide on a date soon so I can get plane tickets since last minute tickets are kinda hard to get and/or insanely expensive.

That is amazing news! That gives me go much more hope, given that you moved up from the bottom to the middle third and that someone at UB said you have a pretty good chance of getting in. By the way, who told you that, Mr. Rosso, or some one who answered the phones (because I've tried to get info out of them, and I can't🙂

I am up for July 6-8 weekend. Well Circus Circus is like $120 per night ... lol
 
As soon as I hear something, I will call Ballys to see how much they'll give me for rooms. If we go week day, I might be able to get a room for 2 nights/ FREEEEE!! haha.. If weekends, then best available rate probably around a 100-200 a night.

Sigh.... this waitlist gotta move!!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I called the admissions office today to get an update and the guy who answered the phone looked me up and told me I was in the top of the middle third, which, historically, is a VERY good place to be. He said that there is a lot of movement in June, and that there was a good chance I would hear from them by the end of June the way things were going....

I am going to take it in June. I've already signed up for it and I am scared of putting it off too long since I've already finished the Kaplan course. Plus I'll be able to apply again early.

I am just hoping that I'll hear some good news before the scores are out! However, having no idea where in the middle third I am, I don't want to risk not applying early enough.

Hmm..I was told a month ago (when they finalized the waitlist) that I was in the middle of the middle third of the waitlist. I just called today, and was told that I am still in the middle third- hope they get to us soon!!!!!!!
 
hey guys, i read from the princeton medical book that Buffalo usually accepts 70% of interviewees so there are good chances for everyone!

Hmm........70% > than 2/3!!! That's encouraging!!

We all still have a shot (since no one knows where in their third they are), assuming that this year will be like the past years.

Last time I called they said they were not allowed to divulge where in the middle third I was.. this is weird all the conflicting information

I was told the same thing. I think if you called early in the application year and depending on who answered your phone call, you were told where in the 1/3 you were.
 
Yea, I was told early in the year that I was in the upper middle third back in march... but then since then over 100 people were interviewed.. hahahah... Is it just me.. or is it funny how there are vegas.com ads on our thread... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Since I'm taking a break from studying for my last test of first year...bumping from page 2. 😀

I sure hope I'm next too...this weekend isn't going to be nearly as fun without an acceptance in hand...

Oh man, I just realized the admissions office is probably closed monday too so if I don't get an acceptance tommorrow...I won't even have a chance until Tuesday.

Anyways, hope I get to stop being the bridesmaid soon (not that I'm a girl but I don't think there's a phrase involving best men).

arg, i hate the mcat. took it three times and do not want to take it again ever! I really hope you guys can get in without going through that dreaded mcat and reapplication process. i applied twice to medical school. the first, only ucsf interviewed, waitlisted, and then rejected me. it was completely devastating. i was a hair away from getting in; the second time was a bit more hopeful with a lot of schools giving secondary and three interviews, believe it or not (WITH THE SAME MCAT SCORE!) I made no improvement between the second and third mcat, in fact my verbal went down. So I dunno. it just feels like luck and persistence really pull through. I wish you guys luck. i deeply relate with you guys. hang in there guys...🙂
 
Verbal is a crapshoot. I absolutely hate that section. I'm so happy I'll never see that section again for the rest of my life.
