Did you call to find out if you're on 'hold?' Letter or e-mail? Also, how long, post-interview, did it take for them to get back to you?
(I'm so sick of waiting!)
 
got my rejection letter in the mail from ucsd yesterday🙁...bummer. anyways, not many uc schools left to hear from at this point...
 
so they sent out some acceptances on feb 20th, and some rejections on feb 24th. ok well that expains my dream, fewh!(i dreamed of a final decision box saying "rejected"😱
 
Finally saw on the UC Irvine status page that a final decision letter (never received secondary) has been mailed 3/03/03.

I actually have newfound respect for them---thanks so much for not taking my money and running and for not making me write those heart-wrenching secondary essays to no avail! Now I can take that extra $60 and splurge it in the city this weekend! 😀
 
Last month I sent an update letter to the UC's that hadn't rejected me yet. It was a nice letter about my fall quarter post bacc/grad grades and a change in schedule. I had hoped it would be a valiant effort to bring my application to the top of the pack and show the adcoms that I really am putting in lots of effort.

Well........

the UCSD rejection came two weeks ago
the UCLA rejection is on its way according to my status page
and last night, I had a dream that I went onto the UCI status page and it said "final decision letter sent"(with no interview!) - I checked and luckily that has not happened yet.

I hope this is not the time for me to start becoming a psychic!😱
 
apparently ucla has rejected me pre-secondary. maybe *i'll* call them and tell them how much they f*ing suck. i'm sorta glad in a way b/c it would have been wasted time/money to fill it out, but i think they could show a little more courtesy and not sit on an app for 5 months before deciding if they should send a secondary!!

Sorry Lola!🙁 I just discovered that I have been rejected from their hallowed institution pre-secondary also. I do wish they had not strung us along forever as they did.

I am going to console myself with salsa and chips.😡

I think I got the equivalence of a post-interview rejection from UCI today. I'm pretty fukkin bummed. UCI was my number one choice. 🙁 🙁 🙁

anyone else get news from them today???
 
moskeetto----why do you think you were rejected...??? i just called them----they said they haven't sent and post-interviews rejections.
 
when i was there for an interview, they told us that there were 3 categories we would fall into when we heard back from them: 1)acceptence, 2) alternate/waitlist 3) on hold. One of the med students I talked to made it seem like getting on hold was an early way to tell they are going to reject you since they don't actually send out post interview rejections until may. He said there was movement off the on hold, he thinks, but the odds weren't very good. maybe I'm over reacting, but I just really like the place and I guess I had my hopes up.
 
I too was just rejected from stupid UCLA pre-secondary...not a word from them for how many months??

About UCI, I interviewed there in Jan, and I thought the UCI reps said that they would not be sending out any rejections until much later. We are all initially accepted or waitlisted. Correct?
 
Did you get an email from them, Moskeeto? If I remember correctly, you were there on 2/13, along with a few other of us SDNers? I havne't heard a word from them since. I don't remember what they said about the admissions process the day of the interview.
 
it says on hold on my status page next to alternate. it just showed up this morning, or maybe earlier and I just saw it this morning. everybody run and check maybe you're luckier and you got a final decision letter sent to you. maybe they're waiting to send those out. i don't know, good luck guys.

Early last week I checked my status page and it said that I was on "hold" next to the alternate status. I also freaked out and felt very sad because I really liked UCI and felt that I had a good interview. Then last Friday I checked my status again and it said next to "final decision" that a letter had been mailed out. So I waited and nothing arrived, but several days ago I received a phone call from Dr. Peterson saying that I was accepted!! So don't lose hope!! A hold next to alternate might be a very good thing indeed!!

god, that would be nice. now I'll be checking my status page every 15 minutes, aaaaaahhhhh. I'm not going to get my hopes up though, I was pretty bummed about the hold, I'd hate to get my hopes up just get knocked down again. thanks for the info tho, hopefully things will work out for me as well as they did for you. so here come the standard questions 🙂, how long after the hold showed up did the "letter sent" show up and then how long between that and the phone call. again, thanks for the info, you've cheered me a up a little, i even managed to get a smiley face in my post.

I interviewed way back on october 15th, but nothing on my status page beyond the interview invite date .... that's 4 months after interviewing ...

Hey, thanks mystic and bounty. I appreciate the encouragement, now i feel like i was being a baby 😀. O well. I guess I'll be checking my status page and voice mail every chance I get while I'm away in Philly for an interview this weekend. Some hope is definetly better than no hope, even if I get let down again. I'm just going to be thinking good thoughts until then and not tell my gf that the hold isn't deffinetely a rejection because I'm really digging on the sympathy from her. 🙂

I was on hold for at least a week. After my status changed to letter sent, it took about 2 days (+ 1 weekend) to actually get a call from UCI about an acceptance. I received my official letter several days later even though I live in LA.

just called a few schools this morning. uci's last interview invitation is 3/24 via email, usc's is "three weeks from now" (which i guess would mean around april 1st) via email, and loma linda april 15th via snailmail.

I checked my UCI status page today and it shows that I was put on hold post-interview. I was interviewed on 2/27. Anyone else who was interviewed around that time heard anything yet?

Yeah I musta seen you then. What does 'hold' mean??! Are we waitlisted or not deliberated?
 
My UCI status page also changed to "on hold" today under 'alternate status.' Anyone have any idea what this means?
 
i just returned from an interview there, and she told us that people who were accepted would be called. all others would be put in a category (don't know if it is called "hold" but waitlist/reject status will be determined later) and that this could be viewed on the status page. i have no idea about what the status pages of those who are accepted will say. i'm not sure this is very helpful, but that is what i remember.
maybe someone should call the office to see what it means! they seem really nice there.
 
I have no clue. I am wondering if they are putting all of the late-interviewees on hold for now. To me it sounds like we've been waitlisted but it may also mean that they have not made a final decision. I know someone posted that they were first put on hold and a week after they were accepted, so l guess time will tell. Good luck everyone!

I just called UCI regarding the "hold" status. I was told that my file was still under review and that no decision has been made yet. The woman I spoke with also told me that at the end of April they will make an alternate list and at that point everyone will be notified whether they are in the top or bottom half of the waitlist. So it sounds like if you haven't heard anything by the end of April, you'll be put on the waitlist. If you're going to be accepted you will probably hear before then.

Well that's reassuring. I don't need to be on another wait list, no thank you. Come to think of it, 3 weeks post-interview is early for a decision, that's short turnaround time. They told us it would be more like 6 weeks post-interview.
Boo, scare us with updates that say nothing.
 
it sounds like we might all be reviewed at the same time. i interviewed yesterday, and they told us a decision on immediate acceptance would be made in 2 weeks and that we should know within 3 if we got accepted (call) or are in the other category (waitlist or rejected by status page). GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! i liked uci a lot!
p.s. that's weird they put hold on status pages -- seems easier just to do nothing!
 
I'm on hold at UCI too, I was put there 3 weeks exactly after my interview. I've been on hold for 2 weeks now, i think, i haven't looked in a week. I had to cut myself off from looking every 2 hrs because I was slowly going crazier.

On a good note, I received an interview invite from UCD, so I'm in both shock and awe over that.

I'm still on hold postinterview at UCI...I just hope I'll hear b4 April...can't take another waitilist/acceptable pool.
 
An update: Got UCD interview coming up in mid-April; no news from UCSF after interview yet; but just got accepted by UCI recently by phone. I might withdraw my UCI acceptance and go for dartmouth instead, but I'm still trying to make this hard decision. If anyone is in the same dilemma, please tell me your thoughts (preferably via PM), thanks.
 
Any news from UCSD anyone??? I interviewed in October and was put in an acceptable pool. When I called admissions a while ago they said that after the interviews finished they will take people from the acceptable pool and put they into a waitlist. Has anyone been placed on the waitlist or accepted from the A pool?

I'm in the same boat...interviewed in October, been in the acceptable pool since. Last year, it looked like SDN people started getting accepted in April-ish and it kept going all through summer. Keeping fingers crossed for both of us!

Nope, nothing from UCI. I'm still on hold. I did good and I tried not looking at my update page and I made it over 5 weeks, but my gf told me she checked today and that there was no change so there goes my streak.
 
I still think its odd that nobody that has interviewed past january has gotten an outright acceptence. Maybe nobody is stepping forward, but people on here and a couple that I've talked to in person are all on hold. I think that means we could be seeing big changes/movement this time next month. I hope if I get rejected, they let me know quick.
 
nope, i know 2 people who interviewed late jan and got accepted a couple of weeks afterwards...

both ucla people....

good luck to those waiting, and don't worry, UCI does have the most waitlist movement out of any UC

yeah, thats why i said "interviewed past january," but I'm sure you're right in any case. I'm just trying to stay a little hopeful. thanks for the info.
