does anyone know the gpa & mcat cutoff for secondary??

Lord knows bro. At this point, all I know is that not hearing from them by now probably means the application is in the reject pile (I haven't heard from them either).

UCD does an initial number run, although I'm not sure the cutoffs. But they hand review every application, so even if you do not meet the cutoffs, your app will be reviewed (although it will take a bit longer) and they may offer you a secondary despite possibly lower stats.

yeah..

no word yet from UCD or UCLA. I know that I missed the cutoffs for an automatic secondary, but I feel that I should get a secondary once they review everything without just numbers.

But by that time, it'll probably be January, February, or even later!

Oh well.. the more I live in this area, the less I really want to go to UCD. I guess I am open to anything, as long as I get accepted at a decent school.

Here are the cut off formulas for the UC school system as I am familiar with them (these are in state calculations, for out of state add five more points to threshold): UCD and UCI = GPA*10 + MCAT > 60 (e.g. out of state > 65), send secondary. UCSD GPA*10 + MCAT > 65, send secondary. UCLA and UCSF = GPA*10 + MCAT > 70 send secondary. Keep in mind the schools will some times add points (1 each) for extracurricular activity, however given the shear volume the UC school system receives this is rare. However, your extracurricular activities and your essays are critical once you receive your secondary. Look luck you guys!

I don't think that's right because I added up my points, and based on what you're saying, I should've received a secondary from UCSD but I didn't. however, I did get one from UCSF which I shouldn't have if they based it all on that formula.

I agree that formula is crap. I am in-state with a 67 according to that formula and no love at all

Not true. I have no MCAT score (waiting for Aug) but I have received UCSD.

That's great!!!

Also, I just wanted to add that I am NOT the best candidate. I don't have a stellar GPA. I'm just average with 3.6 cumulative, 3.5 BCPM.

definitely not true! my score would be 65, and i was looked over for a secondary from uci and ucsd 🙁

My, my, my I try to help out some premeds and this is the response I get? Crap, eh? Suffice to say I have intimate knowledge of the UC system and you certainly don't have to listen to me. If you have the numbers that meet the above criteria and didn't get anything there are two possible explanations:
1) Something in your application has caused it to be red-flagged (e.g. bad essay, etc).
2) There are a very large number of applicants this year and we are simply behind.
Since I don't really have time to check the logs that often if you have any specific questions just email me directly through this service.

Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're full of crap too. I applied last year and didn't get a UCD secondary, but I got UCSD and UCI. First of all, I don't believe there is a single "UC system" that you are so intimately connected to, each UC does its own thing regarding extracurriculars, GPA, MCAT, research, etc.

I think those guidelines are sensible. Doing back of the hand calculations suggests that competitive candidates (3.7 GPA + 33 MCAT) will *most likely* get a secondary at every UC school.

I don't think the guy said guarantee a secondary. Plus, why get bent out of shape on something that you have absolutely no control over?

My number is (if they use BCMP GPA) 67, and I got rejected from UCSF, received secondary from UCI and UCSD, and not heard from UCD and UCLA. Frankly, I think the chance of me getting a secondary from UCD and UCLA are probably .01 right now, because I've been complete there for over a month.
