Aw, well I hope that the news you get is in your favor! 🙂 This whole process is so random even with interviews; we've all heard those stories before, right? The people who had excellent interviews didnt get the news they want and those whose interview couldnt be any worse gets in! Sometimes I wonder if the interview even makes that big of a difference - when they meet in the back I just imagine them going over our numbers, experiences etc all over again with the knowledge that we can walk and talk hopefully demonstrated at the interview. What do you guys think?

Anyways back to the topic at hand...this wait is agonizing!!!!

Apparently, they fixed that glitch. I mean that would suck to get a letter on fri or sat and miss second look altogether. I don't know why ucla works this way, but they sure need to get their act together.

i would absolutely call in this case....second look is just days away.

Usually second looks expect a certain amount of ppl to attend, so that they can plan food and activities...thats probably why they don't have invitations anymore, which kind of blows. Good luck everyone waiting to hear back! It takes forever to get that envelope!

I just called the office. Well, I got placed on the second priority waitlist. 🙁 They exhaust the unranked waitlist and then go through this list. They don't touch this second priority list until July according to the lady in the adcom office.

actually though...1/3-1/2 of people on the unranked waitlist are typically accepted, according to old threads. So in a way, its a step up (the odds are even better now)

Interesting. That's a good way of looking at it. Thanks for the encouragement. I'll probably stay on the WL til maybe mid to late June--and then if no word, move on with my life and head OOS. Go mud hens!

I went to the Admissions office. They said they're running late. Will be Feburary before first decisions are sent. They said maybe even beginning of March.

😛 i am currently in the nursing program and i will be taking post bocc classes to get into med school. in the mean time i need to take some classes for neuro nursing would anyone know how what steps i should take?

I've heard that this is likely the case from a guy who interviews candidates for ucla med. So in a way, we're on a waitlist without actually being on a waitlist....thoughts?

And I know at least a few ppl that I met whom were planning on withdrawing altogether b/c of another school (i.e. Michigan, SF)...and then there are ppl that might drop UCLA post being pull off of Stanford or UCSF waitlists, etc. (although hopefully not)...and you get that standard domino effect...

So, what I'm saying it that I think you still have a pretty good chance if you are on the waitlist...Good luck! 👍

Just to echo what my buddy Elastase said before. I was at revisit weekend and I talked to a UCLA Student Affairs/Admissions person who specifically stated that they accept the exact number of people for the exact number of spots. So if there are ~121 Geffen spots (minus the Drew, MudPhuds, and UCR kids) thats all they've accepted so far. And from another prospective student (not the admissions person) the calss fills with about 20-30% each year from the waitlist. Maybe this has been said before on here, but for what its worth I'm saying it again.

Many of the prospectives had said they will be at UCLA for sure, while some of us will be making a tough decision this coming week. Good luck to everyone.
