I for one actually think the April 15th status changes might be acceptances. There havent been any acceptances in a long time plus there was a big adcom meeting April 15th or around that time. The previous trend has been for them to rush out sending acceptances and slacking off in sending rejects/waitlists. probably the april 15th decisions were the accepts from the april 15h adcom meeting while the rest of the decision letters from that meeting (i.e. rejects/waitlists) will be sent later this week a la the march 4th/march 7th matches. also, it seems like very few people were part of the april 15h batch another sign that it could be good news.bhp said:

I think you might actually be right this time. A friend got a rare acceptance call on friday. They called cuz they wanted him to attend the event on saturday. He didnt remember the name of the lady who called. I dont know if his status page changed too since he hasnt checked it, but if this is any indication of what the April 15th status changes might mean, some of you should be hearing some goooood news 🙂 Good luck everyone

My friend that I posted about earlier (status change 4/15-- interviewed early march) just got his letter yesterday. He got in... but the strange thing was it was just ONE letter. No signature, no acceptance form, just a sentence indicating that he should write back with his decision within 2 weeks....

Barring any dramatic developments, UCLA will NOT be accepting anymore applicants until waitlist season begins after may 15th. To all those waiting still, just pray you're given a waitlist spot and not rejected before then.
congrats to the accepted, what great news! to all others dont let long johns cynicism get you down. i am sure there is plenty of good and bad news awaiting all no status change people yet, let the waiting continue!

I dont wish to get anyone's hopes down. Usually those who get waitlisted this late are actually the first to get accepted once waitlist season rolls around so dont think all is lost if you just get waitlisted here in the next few weeks.

I'm back. i'm hoping this letter's a waitlist. I highly doubt it is an acceptance since there has been all this talk recently about them being in a 'holding pattern' until may 15th. Terrified that this could be a hold/rejection though since it is so late in the cycle.

I wonder if we're part of the same batch just spread out over 2 days (4/28, 4/29) or are we in two different batches with two different decisions.
i spoke to deanna and lili... she pretty much told me that if i got into another school, i wasnt getting into ucla.
my other freind went in who had a 28th date change, he got the same result as me.

that's total BS. How can they say that. Maybe UCLA is your first choice and you have personal reasons for going there. did you send them an LOI?

i asked waht hold meant, she said 2nd waitlist... and that 100 people are ahead of me ATLEAST on the normal WL.

For some reason the mail from UCLA don't get to me and I have to find things out online or phone. I don;t know if my status changed. So how did you gyus find out about the change of status? Online?

yea, the way UCLA does things make one quite anxious. First, they take their sweet time and hold on to your application for months before giving you a decision. Then when they do give you a decision, they will post final decision letter sent but not tell you on the status page what that decision is adding only more anxiety. If you try to call them and ask them over the phone, most likely they wont tell you frustrating you even more. So by the end of this process, you most likely will find yourself camping out at your mailbox for a week like a homeless guy living in a box, urining in a bottle because by now you've lost any sanity you have left and are afraid that maybe, just maybe the mail will come any second at night and you'll miss out on it. 😱 😱 😱
