My SO did his master's at VT (years ago) and never stops talking about how much he misses Blacksburg. When I didn't get in to VA-MD last year, he was so sad. That may have been the one school he would have been okay with us paying OOS tuition for, lol.

Hello everyone! I'm the webmaster for the class of 2021. I made the facebook group today and we will start adding people next week. We are on spring break right now. When we come back on Monday I will get the information of the accepted students so I know who to add to the group. Lynette from admissions will email your class with all the information for the facebook group and how to join it next week, probably by Monday. She will share my email and other information with you so we will be able to find each other on facebook and I can add you to the group. So don't worry, everyone will start being added to the group next week. I'm so excited for you guys to come join us in the fall! Let me know if there's anything I can help you with!
 
Do any current students live relatively far from the vet school or know someone who does? (I’m thinking either north of University Ave or in the Williston Rd area.) I’m (optimistically) hoping to find something cheaper than the condos & apartments closest to school and wondering how terribly I would regret it.

I live closer to the town of Newberry on Newberry Rd (which is “University ave”), and I commute about 20-30 minutes to get on the main campus. I’m hoping I’ll have a shorter commute this fall since the vet school is right off of Archer. I usually leave my house an hour before any class. Traffic in the mornings isn’t awful as I’m used to Miami traffic, but can be rough around 4-6 pm. I sometimes opt to stay longer in school than to sit in traffic. If I’m on time to class I usually don’t mind the drive, but if I’m running late it’s definitely stressful!

Some of my classmates and upprclassmen friends live over 30 minutes away, and it comes down to you sacrificing time for monthly rent. The two areas you mention are not far away at all, however traffic will make it seem like they are.

Oh no.. that makes me nervous. I was hoping there would be a lot of options for housing because I’m trying to wait until my husband finds a job to look for something 🙁

I'm looking this weekend. Which places did you find something wrong with if you don't mind sharing? That way I know what places to not look at lol
 
Ok so I guess I should say, I’m really picky. Yes there are a lot of options which also makes it hard. A lot are very undergrad oriented and that’s not the environment I want to live. I don’t want roommates, needs to be pet friendly, vinyl flooring, washer and dryer in unit. Safety is also super important to me. A lot that seem great have move in dates too late or can’t guarantee they’ll have availability until 60 days before which will put me out elsewhere.

Anybody know what the start date for the fall is? I can't seem to find the schedule online for fall 2018.
