Hi I was hoping someone could shed insight on what most people wear to class? I’m assuming my daily athleisure attire isn’t appropriate lol

Today i wore shorts and a tshirt (guy here).

Pretty much dont come to school in pjs, and if you have to pass by anywhere where clients see you, business casual is a must. OR do what most do - scrubs every day. Thats what you’ll be wearing to anatomy first semester anyways.

I wasn't able to attend the student panel after my interview, so I apologize if this is a question that has already been discussed... are there jobs available to students within the college? The other schools I interviewed at had jobs in the pharmacy/emergency/etc that allowed you to work for grocery money basically and were flexible with the school schedules. If there are, how many students do this while in school?

There are opportunities to work at school and other places while being a student. I know some upperclassmen worked as OPS techs in the Large and the Small Animal Hospitals. Because Gainesville revolves around UF, a lot of local businesses are also dependent on student workers so schedules can usually be flexible. However, if you are looking for minimal money to get groceries, your best bet is being a pet sitter and dog walker for upperclassmen that are on clinics.

Cost & Financial Aid

Not a big amount. IS students got about $1000 first year to help with iPad purchase pretty much. There is barely anythinf for first year, and scholarships are rare anyways. You have to look for them on your own and from other sources.

How about grants? I am asking because I am out of state everywhere and student debt is a big concern for me.
Also, I can't find anywhere the average debt for out-of-state students in UF. Does someone know?

For those that have already accepted their seat, where is everyone from?

Gainesville native here 🙂

What kind of deals do students get on flea/heartworm preventatives (I use Nexgard+Heartgard) and food? I need to know how much to stock up before I leave my clinic job lol.

We get better deals on food than you will get anywhere else lol they’ll tell you about it later. There are also events sponsored by zoetis and other companies that provide cheaper or even free hw/flea/tick stuff.

I would stock up on preventatives! The "deals" on preventatives aren't super predictable in my opinion, I mean they are awesome when they do arrive but if it's cheap at your job I would just collect up prevention 🙂

I emailed Lynette as soon as I got waitlisted and she told me that they contact alternates as soon as a seat becomes available, so I am assuming that means someone else declined their offer! She also said the alternate will experience the most changes closer to the acceptance deadline, so there is still a lot of hope!!
