SC contract acceptance! I have a big decision to make because I have 3 contract acceptances

OOS alternate. Does anyone know how many people they usually waitlist or how much the waitlist generally moves? Are there separate IS and OOS waitlists?

Also does anyone else's say, "you have been placed on our alternate list within the pool of applicants who we consider our At Large applicants?" I have no idea what that means

It just means out of state, not in state or contract

I know that there are separate waitlists for IS and OOS but I'm also curious about how much the waitlist moves... not sure how it has been in past years

OOS (but UGA 2020 grad) alternate list. fortunate to have an offer to Penn with scholarship I will now accept!

IS waitlist, 3rd cycle, 2nd time waitlisted. Not very hopeful for movement but there's always next year! Congrats to everyone accepted!!!

Congratulations! Do you mind me asking what your rank was last year?

It was a little different as I was an SC contract seat last year. I think I was like 6 moved to 4 or 4 moved to 2? I moved 2 places either way. Lol. That’s all I remember!

Does anyone have any idea how common scholarship awards are? I can't find the specific scholarships online

Hey there! Typically scholarship opportunities are given to uga vet students starting in the spring semester of first year. There's a scholarship committee so one application automatically puts you in the running for every scholarship that the school offers! We also periodically get notifications about outside scholarship opportunities from our office, but those typically give precedence to 2nd/3rd years and any other qualifications needed for that specific scholarship are given to us when we're notified about the opportunity. I hope this helps!

You'd apply for scholarships at the start of your second semester, to my knowledge UGA doesnt offer first years scholarships on entry- speaking as a current first year who checked pretty extensively last year lol

You can always try to find external scholarships for the first year, though.

Congratulations to everyone, by the way!

To those who were accepted, first of all, congratulations! Second, did the letter show any statistics?

Unfortunately, no. The letter didn't mention anything about this year's statistics. 🙁

I just have a general question because I’m not sure of the process. But since alternates aren’t notified of place until after the April 15th deadline, can you commit to one program and then later withdraw? Obviously, you’d lose the deposit, but is the April 15th deadline a binding commitment if you got pulled off the waitlist at a different school? Just curious!! Thanks 🙂

Yep you can. It happens more often than not, which is why you hear about applicants being called a week prior to school starting because someone may have withdrawn last minute for whatever reason. Though I would call admissions, just to double check.

They emailed me back after I submitted my alternate form and said that if they get to my name before April 15th they will call me? But I thought they said they didn’t contact anybody until after the deadline?

The attachment said they can’t inform us of our position until after April 15, which is the “national acceptance day”, so some applicants may commit to another school by then or I guess opt to accept or decline their alternate status which I guess would lead them to contact people early.

Are you OOS or IS? Either way, good to know thanks!

Are there any OOS acceptances that have decided to decline their seats? I wonder how much the list moves

We are on the SC contract waitlist. I wondered if anyone knows how many are on the SC waitlist? and same as you... the waiting is killing me.
I’ve been going through a few old threads and someone said there’s 17 SC seats? I’ll link the thread below.. don’t know how accurate it is, I’m an IS alternate and would like to know myself but haven’t found much. Though OOS typically moves faster than IS.

Oh oops haha 😅 I wish I knew! That’ll most likely have to wait until after April 15 unfortunately since that’s the deadline that everyone has to put down a deposit by 😞

MS calling your name?
I like the program at Mississippi better. I will get more hands on experience earlier plus I would be able to live alone because COL is cheaper. UGA has lower tuition by a few thousand but when you factor in COL, gas and utilities they come out to the same. Plus I am able to get started on my PHD in infectious diseases earlier and they have a pathology specialty program that accepts their student more often than not.

Does anyone know if/when they will release statistics on accepted students?

I don’t think they’ll be releasing statistics until the class has been finalized. I looked online and couldn’t even find the stats for last year’s class either

There used to be a graphic about last year's class and its statistics that I think has been taken down for whatever reason.

How soon did they email you back? I sent mine in a couple days ago and am just wondering if I should be worried I didn’t get an email back. Alternatively, did anyone else send theirs in and not get an email back?

I got an email back but they didn’t mention anything about hearing before the 15th. I sent mine a Thursday and heard back the next Monday

I sent my alternate form on 3/1 and Parker responded the next day saying thank you. Though I didn’t ask anything regarding my status since the form stated that they can’t tell us our status till after April 15.

I sent mine in on March 1st and they responded on March 3rd. The email said, “Thank you for returning your form to remain on our alternate list. If I get to your name prior to April 15th, I will contact you via phone.”
