Yeah... I'm pretty guilty of faithfully checking what's going on at SDN. As Hillary would say, I'm constantly lurching. Right now, I think I'm done studying for anatomy. It's gotten to the point where I can just study from Netter's. I'm really concentrating on the final right now. As for path...the only studying I do for path is when I'm at school with you guys looking at slice of life or listening in with the tutors. This is nuts...
OK good luck guys and study hard!😱

Hey gang,
First, thanks Chris for being such an awesome quizzer/tutor in the lab last night. It is very much appreciated.

I've been spending time this morning trying to get on the gold standard site, to no avail. I'll have to switch gears.

Good to see everyone posting. Good luck the rest of this week. I can't wait till path practical is overwith.

😱
M.

What up--
I am getting ready to hit the books.....yet again!!!
Mary, thanks for the complement. I really appreciated it.

Only two more days and the majority of the pain is over!!!

-C

Been checking SDN out now and then all day....don't really know why...OK I've been sitting at this desk for way too long.
Goodluck to us again!
M.🙂

What's up y'all--
Well I just want to congratulate everyone for making it through last week!! It was hell but I am sure we did fine. It was also nice to see so many of our classmates out on Friday night. It was a real good time. I think most of us (me included) had a little too much ethanol intake, but it was definitely worth it. We had worked so hard for the past few weeks! That being said.....

On to Skin/Blood/Lymph! I know it is supposed to be one of the hardest sections but then which section isn't hard????

Well I need to brush up on OPP so I will see you guys later!!!!

-C

....just studying all these BUMPs that happen in Derm!🙂 I'm pretty happy that I did as well as I did on path. Wowee. Now I just have to find out about the anatomy practical and the final. Whew! Does anyone else feel a little like we're back in FOM? I'm scared. 😱
Well, g'day all
M.

Mary--
I know how you feel. I heard a rumor that we have quiz review tomorrow, but who the heck knows. We wont find out our grades until right before Christmas break probably. I am sure there will be 1542.5 challenges for our final.

I am trying to get back motivated to study. That long break from lectures (over a week) just has made me lazy, other than studying for the finals. Almost through the material for today.

Can't wait till T-break!!!!! Will that deal with T-cells??????
Hmmm.........

-C

Hey guys--
Another boring Sunday night. Got back around 5pm. I need to study but can't seem to find my mojo............

Anyway, hope you all had a good weekend. I should have been more productive than I was.

Oh well, see you tomorrow!!

-C

I have a question about UHS's early clinical experience program? When do you do it? Is it during your breaks or do you do it during the semister?

Dear UHSers,

Anyone else ready to rip that hair out (oh Chris, wait, we can't)??? I need to find someone to demonstrate every RASH known to mankind in the next 2 hours--now...... GO! Good luck studying for this stuff & I feel for you if you have color blindness or tactile dysfunctions-- this is gonna be rough...hahahah.

+pissed+

Peace out,
H

I thought that I'd post, lest our school's thread fall to the wayside... Man, this is nutz!!! All of these rashes, papules, macules, basal cell carcinomas, dude they all look the same!!! I'm color blind on top of that so my brain's a little confused. Oh, well...if there's one thing I'll remember it's a sick lover in a fast car... or I'll take my platinum credit card to Reno and go gambling with my fingers crossed (j/k, it's a UHS pharmocology thang).
+pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+

Just wanted to thank all of the student ambassadors that took the time to show us interviewees around yesterday. It was a hoot. I will hopefully get an offer to attend and will definately accept (unless my wife vetoes).

DrHillary, I got the question about the committee answered so don't worry about it. Thanks for all of your help.

WannabeDO (Russell)

Dear Old Yeller,

You had to go there, didn't you?!?! Just watch out for my cousin Chris & his tube (hitting you over the head)!

Dear Wannabe,

Glad to hear that you are all set & had an enjoyable experience. If you have any more concerns, let me know. 😉

Peace,
(itch, itch, scratch, scratch) 😡

H

Hey guys, just wondering how the studying is going. Needless to say, it's going to be a very long couple of days before the exam. 🙁

Yeller--
Ya bud, it is going to be a long few days. I am anticipating an all nighter on Monday evening. Cannot wait!!!!!

There is just so much junk......hard to keep it all straight.

Hope you studies are going well.......man, I found another papule! Wonder what that is from???

-C

Told you Skin,Blood, & Lymph was gonna be tough 🙂 .........Welcome to Medical school!!!!! But at least you can take solace in that once s/b/l is over, the remainder of the year will be a breeze. Good luck.....guys/gals. BTW, have you guys had Dr. Hubbard yet??

Hey Stump,
Yeah, you were right about skin, blood and lymph. It's an overwhelming section. We had three lectures with Dr. Hubbard so far. He's a great lecturer, but he presents the material at breakneck speed. Anything you wish to share???

Yeah, I'm all ears! Let's hear about Dr. Hubbard's questions....

I heard that studying the handout is a good idea.

That's all I know.
M.😛

There's no real secret to Hubbard's questions. Sometimes he'll throw you a bone........but when he does, beware..... some of the time what he says will be a test question will never show up on the actual test. His questions do come directly from his notes...but that's not much help when the guy presents 100+ slides in a 50 minute period (and that will happen soon if it hasn't happend yet). Sorry, I don't have any real advice for Hubbard. You can't know it all (like you guy's haven't already figured that one out). Just know the big picture for Hubbard. One thing I can give advice on is Quizbank. By the time the final comes along, you guys will have close to 1000 quizbank questions for ERF. So don't slack on those.......KEEP UP WITH QUIZBANK....those are free points and if you put it off, there will be no way to cram the days leading up to the final. Other than that, just keep up the hard work and before you know it X-mas break will be here. GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!!!

Hey guys--
Is anyone else pulling an allnighter tonight?? I know I am! IHOP here I come baby!!!

Maculopapular, bullous, vesicular.........crap! My sick lover drives a fast car, with my platinum to reno, hitting Chris on the head with a tube, smoking weed with Leo!! 2006ers, you know exactly what I mean!!!!

I just want to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving; get fat, and I hope you will find at least two nevi on your grandmother and then treat your Aunt Mae with lymphatics!!

Peace out and good luck tomorrow!

Chris

Oh my gosh guys--I'm so sick of studying this material for some reason. I just don't even feel like I'm getting it all down.

I must admit, I'll be going to bed in the next half hour or so. Please don't really stay up all night--get some rest! Good luck with your studying. If you can keep it up, I salute you.

Of course, none of you are probably stupid enough to get on SDN tonight. haha

Have a great weekend gang.

Hey Gang,
Good luck ( I know it's late) and Happy Thanksgiving...enjoy your families and such!

I think we're all in the same boat with this quiz...we feel like we "don't have it down", but ya know what? That means that our minds want to know more, but there just isn't enough room!

OK what I mean is.... that's why we made it to med school. We like this stuff. Right?

Well its so late and I've had so much coffee, I'm rambling!😱

Outstanding! Faaaanstastic!
(name that prof!)

I'm out.
M. 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕

Hey guys,
Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving! My plane for Chicago leaves in a couple of hours and I'm sifting through all these papers that we've had since the beginning of school and stuff. Can't believe that we've done all that in a couple of months. Ok gotta go...stay safe and I'll see you's on Monday. Take care!

Dear 2006,

All the best to those traveling and to those sticking around! Enjoy your turkey & don't be thinking about how your cranberry sauce looks like a specific ERF topic that can remain unnamed...😛

Rest up-- only 3 weeks to go (albeit 3 weeks of anemias, clotting cascades & lymph nodes) but WE CAN DO IT!!

Peace!
H😎

What up y'all--
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! Mine was decent......oh by the way, I got to assist on a lap chole the day before Turkey Day!! I just showed up at the hospital to see how everyone was doing and the surgery girls asked if I wanted to scrub in. And what do you think I said.......Hell yeah!!
It was great. Got to stitch up two of the four lap incisions. Pretty fun! Now today I have to study quite a bit; to catch up for this section plus look over the new blood material.
Be safe in coming back to school.....dont wanna read about anyone in the papers!

See you on Monday.....rested and relaxed?? Oh man, another papulosquamous rigid bumpy erythematous scale-like rash....how did that get there?? My Hgb is still alpha-2 gamma-2

-C

Hey Dr. Chris--

I feel like you're helping us all study with your messages! What a service! Stop making me feel guilty for never studying as much. haha

Glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving...even got in a little medical action. Good for you. Hope you're spending some quality time with that family of yours. They're worth it this weekend, that's for sure!

Take care all.
Anna

P.S. I just checked my email...what a blessing to have 0 new messages. Who would have thought that would ever happen.

Hi all,

I hope everyone's Thanksgivings were tons and tons of family fun. 🙂 Being the proud Canadian that I am and all, I celebrated our Thanksgiving last month, so this is just a nice mini vacation for me away from school.

I'm in Toronto right now, and it's SO cold here! It hit me as soon as I stepped out of the airport. You have no idea how happy I am to not have to spend another winter in this crazy city! I really don't know why people live here.

I'm having a great time with friends here...even though I had to lug all my notes from Blood, Sweat, and Tears here with me to go over on my "down time". I KNOW I bombed that exam big time. My mind had already boarded the plane back here 3 days beforehand. All I know is that EVERYTHING looks maculopapular to me, and erythematous is always a good bet as well. 🙂

I'm taking an extended break and won't be back until Tuesday night, so I'll see you all in class on Wednesday.

Have a safe journey back to KC! 🙂

I don't want to go back!!!!!! I enjoyed this break way too much. Solie, enjoy those extra days...sounds nice!

See the rest of you later today. I'm going to try to put a smile on my face for all this blood stuff, at least it's not skin rashes for two more weeks.

Time to kick it up a notch! Did you SEE those packets we got today?!?!

Well, I know what we'll all be -bloody- sick of three weeks from now.

Have a BLAST!
"Bloody Mary"

Hey guys...
Holy crap.....we got quite the load of notes today. Man, my notebook almost looks like the final one from FOM! Very full. And we still have a full week and a half to go! Man so much to learn.....so little time........

I should be studying instead of typing on here! See you guys later

Chris

Dear "bloody Mary" & other hemorrhaging SDNers,

This is the week of blood for sure-- from lectures on it, to sticking one another, to the blood drive on Friday-- we'll not want to look at another syringe until 3rd year rotations!! 😛

Maybe it's all in the holiday theme-- (to the appropriate tune)
"Silver scales, Silver scales, it's Psoriasis time in Kansas City...."
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, had a very bloody nose..."
"It came upon a hemolysis clear..."
or maybe even,
"Sickle cells, sickle cells, sludging all the way, oh what fun it is to lyse in a one-spleen kind of way-ay!"

Sorry, had to get that out of my system! Come & see Osteopera 😳 & Cranial Rhythm 😀 rock Ricci at noon on Thursday-- woohoo!

~Hillary

Hi all!

It looks like I'll be attending UHS in 2003! I need some imput on apartments...I'm looking at Century Towers, but what else is there? Do the students seem to enjoy Century Towers? How safe is it?

Doctortobee--
I am just speaking for myself here. I live in the Pinnacle Apts. It is just a mile from the school. There is a pool on the top floor. I only pay $405/month. My apartment is a studio, so not much room. But I am only there like 6 hours a night, basically to sleep. also, next to my building is another one called University Towers. It is fairly similar, just a little more expensive.

That is my point of view.

Congrats and if I can be of any service, email me
[email protected]

chris

Hey Bloods--
Man I cannot wait for this section to be over. I am like five-six lectures behind still. I thought skin was bad........I think this is worse. Too many anemias, etc.

I should be studying right now, but I think just being overwhelmed is prohibiting me to do so.

Anyone doing a rotation over Christmas?? I am considering maybe just shadowing a little over Christmas at the hospital I used to work at. Just to see if I have learned anything or not. Who knows though. My wife probably won't let me. We will see

Good luck studying this weekend. One more day until the info stops coming in.

Hillary- I think you need to put together a CD, and we can all pitch in and sing on it. Very nice songs!
"I'm dreaming of a White Thrombus.......just like ones I used to know....."
"Here comes lymphoma, here comes lymphoma, right down the lymphatic lane........."

Ok, Im Ghandi!!!

Chris

Hey guys, just thought I'd take a break and post. Nothing in particular really, except this upcoming quiz is going to be a killer. A question...do you guys go through and read ERF's lecture handouts? I guess I'm still trying to figure out how to best study for his stuff. 😱 Ok, domo arigato, Mr. Amato!

Mary Christmas everyone!

Haha, sorry, couldn't resist...everyone's always doing the Mary songs, poems and everything, so why not have a "Mary" Christmas? 😛 😛 🙄

As far as ERF goes, Yeller, for me, personally, I'm doing Quizbank alot and reading the lecture notes. The reason why is b/c alot of this stuff is review for me, and it's a bit tedious to "study" it as though I'm learning it all over again...what might actually happen is I'm going to lose track of what I already know....does that make sense?

Hey, I wish there was more of a holiday party for us. Christmas is 2 weeks away. And there should have been more Happy Hanukkah stuff, around, don't you agree?

Well, back to quizbank...
M.

"....Have a Howell Jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year....target cells and schistocytes bring me lots of cheer..."NOT!😀

Hi fellow 2006ers. I just had to comment on those beautiful songs. "Silver Scales" is my personal favorite!

Just a thought on todays material on Luekemia, etc...
Do you think Dr. H (Hem/onc) utilizes oxygen? I seriousy think he just takes one breath before starting a lecture and then ...WWWHHOOOOSSSHHHH! 500 slides and 50 minutes later, another breath. He has "super RBC's" or something.
Unbelievable!

About Dr. H.,
I went up to him after the 2nd lecture to chat a little, and his face was all wet and he was broken out into a sweat.

Maybe the lectures are his excercise!🙂 He is SUCH a nice guy though. I don't know how hem/oncers do it everyday.

M.😀

"....M1 they told me, parumpumpumpum....M2, M3, M4...parumpumpumpum....boy do I feel dumb...."

Hey all--
It is Friday night and I am still studying. Man I hate skin/blood/lymph!!! All the stuff is looking the same and seems to overlap. I have no clue whether to diagnose mono, Hodgkins, or alpha heavy chain disease!!!!! Who the hell cares???

Anyway, I cannot think of anything cool to top Hillary or Mary!

It's beginning to look a lot like finals.....every where you go.....students stressed......hair frizzed....caffeine overload....blood shot eyes...... (I dont know the rest of the tune, so I am just making crap up as you couldn't tell that already!)

Oh well, the only positive way I can look at this is the following:
It is almost Christmas break
Only nine lectures left (really only seven to worry about)
and there wont be much new info for the final!!

I want to wish everyone the best of luck studying this weekend and the next week!

Have a great time with Hubbard's crap!

Your Lazy Notepool President!!!!!!!!

Hey guys I have a question for those at UHS. I just found out that I was placed on the high alternate list. What does this mean in regards to my chances of getting in?

Hey DocGeorge,
Got the news that you're on the high waiting list, or whatever that means. I really don't know the answer to your question in regards to the number of people who come off that list and matriculate. But, in the meantime, I would seriously consider sending a letter of intent to the administration here at UHS. Just state how much you really feel like UHS is a fit for you. Talk about your wife already being accepted and that you'd also want to go through the medical school experience with her. You might want to emphasize how much the stability of your marriage means to both of you cuz the admin are really down to earth family types. Talk about what you're doing right now and update them with your grades if you're still attending school. In addition to to the letter of intent, call the administration on a regular basis (but use wisdom on how often to call!) to show that this is the school for you. You might want to consider asking a professor or employer who knows you well to write another letter of rec. Like I said before, don't lose hope and keep your chin up! All of us here have our fingers crossed for ya. Let us know what is going on. Laterz 🙂

To my homies in the class of 2006...this is nutz!!!+pissed+

Hi 2006ers,

I'm in such a daze....had just about enough for this semester, ya know? I just hit the hot tub here @CT....boy that IS a nice perk! (now that it works)

Good luck on the quiz and tests and congrats to all the 2nd years who got their match news!

La-tr
M.😱 🙄 😱 🙄 +pissed+

What up yo--
Holy crap I am sick of blood. I think that when we are done with this section I am going to drain all of my blood from my body so that I won't have to even think about it anymore. And then, granted if I have the energy, I am going after Hubbards!! Beware Hem/Onc dude, you're mine!

I am almost through Week 4. I will hopefully get through it before I crash tonight and then go through Week 5 tomorrow. And then maybe do more quizbank. I wish ERF would challenge us with more questions! (said in a very sarcastic way!)

OK, enough procrastinating! BACK TO THE BLOOD!!!!

..."If you want blood.......you got it.........!" (AC/DC)

-C

Hey 2006ers--
Man, can you believe we are almost through our first semester of medical school already?? Seems like yesterday we were all getting acquainted (except for a few of us psycho SDNers!) at orientation. Although FOM lasted like 5.78 years, everything else has flown by.

What did you think of the quiz today?? I thought it was ok. I didnt smoke it or anything, but I think I did ok.

I want to wish all of yous good luck this week. We can do it!! Only a few more days. Tomorrow is actually our last day of lecture. I think I am punting the gay healthcare lecture. I mean, the lecture isn't concerning healthcare for the homosexual, it just sounds gay! You know what I mean!!

Anyway, I am going to hit a little more quizbank and call it an evening!!!

Later!

Chris (aka Hubbard's Homeboy!!!)

I'm looking at the derm portion for the final exam, and IT STILL LOOKS THE SAME!!! ARGH!!!+pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+
Well, hoping you guys are doing better. It's gonna be a long couple of days and nights. But, I'll say this: I'm very torn over seeing the Two Towers vs. studying. It's a major dilemma. If you guys don't see me on Wednesday night in the library, you know where I am 😉

HHeeeelllllloooooo---
Hey guys, only one big test to go and then party time!!! I thought the path exam today was kind of tough. But I think it was pretty fair though. I studied quite a bit for the path part, but I still am not sure how I did.

Now it is time to sift through the rain forest of notes again. I wonder exactly how many birds and squirrels lost their homes, just to let us learn the art of medicine??
Who the hell cares, we will be saving lives right/?

That was just a joke.....dont want to step on any nature lover people or whatever you call them........

OK, time to tackle Hubbard yet one more time.....

Good luck guys!!!

-C

Hey buddy! Thought that I was the only one on SDN for the past couple of days. Yeah, the path was tough. I think I put squamous and basal cell carcinoma like three times or so. I don't know if that's good or bad. 🙁 Well, looks like it'll be another long nite at the UHS library. But, I'm really unmotivated to study. I think I spent the last hour or so surfing the web up here. Gotta start studying those anti-neoplastic drugs...mmm...breaded asparagus:clap:

   YAHOOO!

After today we are done with 1/8 of med school!!!!! (give or take a little)....

GOOD LUCK ON TESTS, HAVE A GREAT BREAK, AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M.😀
