Should I retake the DAT mid-October?

Hello fellow pre-dentals,
I just completed my application with the submission of my DAT scores (20AA/18TS (20Bio/19Orgo/16GenChem/19QR/22PAT/24RC). I applied to 9 schools and UMD was honestly one of my top choices because of the price and how practical it is. They, however, emailed me today saying that I cannot be considered for an interview because of the 16 in gen chem. I also have a 3.84 GPA, tons of volunteer work, clinical experience taking dental xrays as an assistant, and I do research. I also got a letter of recommendation from a former interim dean at a prestigious dental school. I really don't have the time or energy to retake the DAT and I feel that it would be too late in the cycle anyway if I were to retake it at my earliest allowance (mid October). I might be happier and do well somewhere else where they don't write me off with cut offs just like that. I could definitely see myself at others schools on my list that aren't like UMD in this regard (Marquette, UNE, VCU, U of Louisville, U of Kentucky). I wanted to post this thread to seek your advice as I decide what are the next steps I should take. Hope for the best with the other schools or try to retake it for UMD. I truly didn't get a good feeling when I toured there either or spoke with the admissions, perhaps this is the better route for me. I would appreciate to hear anyone who has thoughts on this. Thank you and good luck to all of you in your endeavors!
