Hi All,

I have interview coming up at my #1 choice (UMDNJ-SOM) and was wondering if someone can give me specific advice.

Congrats on your interview!

As someone who has gone through couple of UMDNJ-SOM interviews, this is my advice:

RELAX as much as possible. I know this is easier said than done, but the interview is supposed to be as stress-free as possible. The admissions office staff is super cool and will make you feel at ease the moment you walk in. Be good to them!

Be friendly, smile alot, don't talk too fast, and make eye contact with BOTH interviewers. This assures them that you're personable and able to communicate well with others.

Have a good answer prepared for questions such as "Why osteopathic medicine?" or "Why do you want to be a doctor?". Name specific examples/experiences so your answer is not "generic".

Try to ask unique and thoughtful questions that show you have done some research on this school and that you're highly interested. The question time was the highlight of both of my interviews. During both of my interviews, I felt that we spent more time discussing my questions than their questions. I wonder if I scored really high on my interviews because of the question time.

Good luck!

Thanks for the adivce, and I hope to join you in the Class of 2011 tenderluvcare. Do the questions asked tend to be consistent?

Questions are VERY consistent. I was told that they tend to ask every applicant the same Q's so as to homogenize the process.

My advice: study the interview questions on this board.

Good luck.

i thought that most of the questions i was asked were specific to my application. i would advise against rehearsing your answers. go over your application. be friendly and talk to the people around you, it will make you less nervous, the time will pass faster, and maybe you will make friends with some of your future classmates. congrats on the interview!

The discussion will be specific to you because of your answers - not b/c of the questions themselves. IE - what do you do in your spare time?? or... Tell me about your medical-related experiences?? These are the base q's they will ask and of course, no two people will give the same answer. Of course, as with any interview, side discussions will begin and follow up q's may be asked....

bigfatk is right - just relax!!!! Be yourself and you will be fine.

They asked me extremely specific questions to my application, not average questions at all. But it was a pleasant interview.

Can someone give more specific breakdown of what the interview was like?

Faculty interview, student interview? How long the interview was??
