I was under the impression that in the morning info session Dr. Foreman said NEXT Friday, 2/20, is when they were planning on mailing decision letters. Then portals would be updated a few days after that. But the earlier the better!
 
He said both days. I think it was more of a Friday the 13th was the original plan but since so many people were stranded we will definitely send them out by Friday the 20th.
 
I heard him say they would send the letters out midweek (so Wednesday) and update the portal a few days later (so Friday). I was hoping this was the case so we can all know our status next week.
 
Exciting! Does anyone know if they still have interviews that haven't been done yet?

It might be possible. The portal has been down periodically, I'm assuming so they can change the statuses of the people who were actually no-shows to their interview and not just absent because of the weather.
 
Yeah just checked it is unavailable...that in itself is nerve wracking!
 
I don't think they have to take down the portal to update it. Remember they recently redid their entire vetmed website and it still has a lot of glitches and bad/outdated info in some parts. He talked a lot about that during the info session I went to so I think every time it's down we can assume it's just for maintenance or fixing this on the website, not the portal. That's just my theory, though. 🙂

Im a first year and I have a custom super one just for gaming and then the one I take to school lol!
 
I will also be bringing my gaming desktop. It's so awesome how many of you are also gamers. I feel like I'm gonna fit in just fine with you guys. 😀

Except for @haley120892 who will be at LMU.

From my understanding in the afternoon info session, Dr. Foreman said they would send out letters on Friday 2/13 in hopes of us receiving them no later than Friday 2/20. He then followed this by saying they wouldn't update the portal for a while to prevent the mass "Hey, it says I got accepted, but I didn't get a letter!" phonecalls.

I guess we got different bits of info. I'll call on Monday morning to see what it is they're doing. Snail mail usually takes longer than a week to make it to South Florida so I really hope what I heard was correct and we'll see a portal update by the end of next week.

Hahaha love the conversations about gaming. I will be bringing a laptop for schoolwork (probably a new one based on their specifications) and my loyal five year old desktop!

In the notes that I took down from the information session, I wrote that letters would be sent out ON the 20th with the portal being updated a few days later. I would love to find out sooner though ahhh!!
 
Speaking of computers, I love that they don't make you buy a specific one. Some of the other schools I applied to force you to buy one of theirs, which is just ridiculous in my opinion. Also, am I the only one that's puzzled by the ethernet port requirement? I don't think I've owned a laptop with an ethernet port in almost a decade.

Really? I have a pretty new laptop that still has ethernet. Kinda useless since it's pretty universal to have only wifi now, but came in handy in my school's older library and dorm buildings.

Hmmm interesting. I'm buying a macbook for school so I guess I'll just have to buy an extra ethernet adapter. What would I use it for at the school, though? I thought they had wifi everywhere.

yeah exactly. MSU didn't have wireless dorms so ethernet was handy there. Plus, it is always faster...
 
I'm a little late to the discussion on when admissions packages are being mailed out but I did take notes during the afternoon session. I wrote "mailed out by the 20th (weather may delay)." (The weather reference is in regards to the folks who couldn't make the interview on account of airport delays.) Sorry to burst anyone's bubble! 🙁
 
By the 20th, so that means really anytime this week lol.
 
You're right, but I sort of take it as "sooo BY the 20th means they're going to send them out ON the 20th then." LOL. And they definitely won't have sent them out last week, as someone was mentioning/hoping.
 
Yeah my guess would be around Wednesday mail them out and change the portal by the weekend. That's just speculation though. We will just have to either wait to hear or until someone gets too anxious and calls them 😉

Tell me about it. I know why they're not promising anything though. Last year they gave a specific date when the portal would be updated and when they missed that date, everybody stormed them with phone calls. I'm pretty sure they're trying to avoid that.
 
I'm not a huge gamer (I do love Zelda though), but I love running! Hopefully I'll find a workout buddy. 🙂

Wohoo! I'm excited and nervous (Illinois is my last shot since I was rejected from Mizzou and Minnesota). I'm hoping that they liked what they saw on the interview.

I'm in the same boat as you, rejected by everywhere else I applied. Hopefully we'll be classmates in the fall!

They didn't mention it in my info session, but I've heard from a couple folks on here that it's fairly difficult.

In the morning info session Dr. Foreman said, other than through marriage, it's very rare.
