University of Illinois c/o 2020 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Looks like it will be Monday at the earliest for OOSers. I'm betting for Tuesday though

Nothing in northwest Nebraska today. 🙁

I live on the CA coast. I feel like that's the farthest mail from Illinois can reach :meh:. My mail hasn't even arrived yet.

In times like this is when I wish we got an email and a letter. I want the letter but I don't wanna wait for it lol

Could be worse..could be phone calls. Personally, I think that's cruel and unusual punishment.

I'd take a phone call as long as it was a good phone call.

Waiting for my Mississippi phone call while watching other people on SDN post that they got theirs was honestly the most agonizing thing ever. I would soooooo much rather do snail mail or emails at rhe same time than phone calls spread out over days.

I feel it's the same thing. Cause not everyone will get there snail the same day. But that is true they must of had some tough decisions 😉 let's hope they at least mailed them by now! We don't even know that lol

Yeah but the difference is everyone gets a letter whether accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. Only acceptances get the calls. So calls were made Wednesday-Friday in my case and I got mine on 4 PM Friday afternoon... You could imagine how frazzled I was lol.

Oh I totally know the feeling. Purdue calls started... Thursday? I got mine Tuesday morning. I had just about given up.

I have the advantage that I won't be able to really watch SDN this weekend. lol. I'm catching up on sleep!

Oh yes I feel your pain there. Never been through it but could imagine! I was hoping we would all know before the weekend 🙁 tear

Nope! Just been through this twice and have been watching it for a long time.

Oh ok. Well I wish you best of luck this time! I only had to try once to get into vet school. The easiest way to figure out when you're going to get your letter is to go to the USPS website, they have a transit time from each zip code so you can figure out when you'll get your letter. Then just add one day to factor in the campus mail service. This formula worked for all of my acceptance letters. No need to stress about it.

I am also in Illinois and nothing.. tomorrow is the day!!!!!

I called U of I Vetmed today. The woman told me letters were being mailed today (Friday, Feb. 26).
Oh my 🙁 that really sucks. Def won't see that letter till at least Tuesday o

You're freaking out more than us.
I don't think more lol, maybe just as much! Do you guys do the little/big system at university of Illinois. Where you are paired with an upper classmen?

Nothing in the mail today in Northern Illinois. 🙁
Yeah today they were probably siting in the post office getting sorted or whatever they do at the post office lol. First letters will be opened Monday I think.

None today and I live on campus. Should be Monday.

@pinkpuppy9 or anyone else who knows, Is it true that everyone gets letters from the school regardless of admission status?
Not like some other schools if you only get a letter if accepted/waitlisted and an email if rejected?

I think everyone gets a letter letting them know of their status (that's what I remember from the info session). Wait listed people will get a call if there is a spot that opens up.

I can confirm that you get a letter for rejections or acceptances. I'm sure waitlisters get a letter, I just haven't been waitlisted here 🙂

Just remember the USPS's creed: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."! 😛

Postman can come any time between 9:30 and 11:30. I have a meeting from 10:300 to 11:00, a second meeting from 11:00 to 1:30. Like, really. Postman, get here in the next 30 minutes.
