Good luck!! They are really nice and I'm sure you will do great! My interview is Sunday!
They interview around a total of 175 after all is said and done. Kathy says they accept 120- so I would probably assume the majority of the rest get waitlisted.
Thanks MnW! I am actually pretty excited rather than nervous, I've heard such good things about the school! I am way more nervous about the plane ride, which is probably silly but oh well...Good luck!! They are really nice and I'm sure you will do great!
Oh wow. That's way better than I was thinking, thanks for sharing! I'm sure they will address this when I'm there, but how soon do they notify you of their decision? They interview around a total of 175 after all is said and done. Kathy is waiting on everyone to get fall grades and GRE scores in. So, whenever those are done. If they aren't all in by Feb. 1st- she is going to mail out decisions anyway. I got mine January 28th last year.
It's only been 4 days since my interview and I'm already tired of waiting. 🙂 I'm just curious how many people usually get wait-listed?
Thanks! Yes, if I don't get on this flight I will badger them into getting me anywhere near Columbia, and I'll just drive the rest.I hope you can make it out. There is also Kansas City that you can fly into as well- if you are looking at other options.
RAINHEART and myself are there today! We will try to find you!!It's been a crazy and long day but I made it to Columbia!
Thanks for the well wishes, Rainheart!
It was nice to meet you both! I absolutely loved Mizzou 😍RAINHEART and myself are there today! We will try to find you!!
I am so happy I was able to give you a tour!! It was a blast. I love Mizzou and can not imagine myself anywhere else!! And if you have follow up questions, let myself or any of the other Mizzou students know!!!It was nice to meet you both! I absolutely loved Mizzou 😍
Hope you guys had a great time at interviews! Just wanted to again offer to answer any questions anyone might have! I had ZERO interest in coming to Mizzou before my interview, but it became my first choice afterwards. I had several other options and still chose to come here. Even though vet school sucks a big one (a really really big one) I am happy to be here and am happy to share any/all advice with anyone who wants it. I'm definitely a really realistic person so I can give some pretty good objective observations/advice.
It was nice to meet you both! I absolutely loved Mizzou 😍
Who did you work with?? Just curious!! 😉I'm so jealous you got to meet kpow and rainheart!!!! 😛 Although I was surprised that at my interview I ran into a 1st year I used to work with here in IL!
Don't forget to submit fall grades and test scores everyone! 😉

Ok guys, let's play a game!!
What was your fave thing about Mizzou?!?
The hospital was amazing, the people were extremely nice, the town and the campus were both beautiful... I could go on 🙂
Okay this may be a dumb question. I sent my GRE scores in to VMCAS back in the fall. Do I have to send them again or send them to the school?
Ok guys, let's play a game!!
What was your fave thing about Mizzou?!?
I interviewed on the 5th, but I enjoyed how accommodating everyone was - both current students and faculty. It left a huge impression on me, because I wasn't treated as just another applicant. Mizzou was my first interview of this application cycle, so the warm atmosphere really helped me relax!
Curious question... are acceptances sent out via email or snail mail?
Acceptances are sent Via Snail mail..... And while im at it, where are you from in Nashville?!?!?! I grew up in Nashville/ went to school/undergrad in Nashville!!!!
Kathy said today that within the next couple of days she will have all of the transcripts entered in and that the only thing left is the GRE scores from those that havent been sent. She also said that she would be calling those people if the scores were not in by next week!
Small world!!! Haha I grew up in the Brentwood suburbs between middle and high school. My family lived in Cincinnati, OH, before that - hence my lack of a southern accent. I did my undergrad in PA though - I kinda missed having a good amount of snow (crazy, I know)
Awesome!! I lived near Mount Juliet (right on the Davidson/ Wilson county line!) There is a 2nd year who is from Tennessee as well, but closer to the UT Martin area. Im the Only Tennessean in my class... Hopefully we can keep it up and have at least one, (YOU) in the first year class next year!! The weather here in Columbia is SOOOO much like the weather in Nashville, so it hasnt been a huge adjustment for me! I really enjoy it here!
You just might see me there this fall! Given that I hear back with good news soon. Missouri is one of my cheaper options for vet school, along with Wisconsin. I applied to UT also, but as much as I'd be paying to go there, I'd rather be OOS. Plus I'm the kind of person that likes to spread his wings a bit. 😉
It's going to be a really tough decision! But Mizzou is definitely high on the list!
I totally understand. I also applied to TN and giving the cost of living in Knoxville and the tuition, it is cheaper for me to go here!!! The cost of living here in Columbia is sooo CHEAP!!!
But other than tuition, I really like the 2+2 program here. I have worked with UT grads and I wasnt overly impressed with their clinical skills... Granted, every new grad is going to have that adjustment period... I just knew that getting 2 years in clinics is a huuuge advantage!
I was blown away by how affordable it is to live in Columbia! I went to school in a college town in PA, and most apartments there were way more expensive. I lived on campus the whole time cause it's basically the same price, but closer to classes. And Mizzou's 2+2 program really impressed me also! I'd heard about it, but didn't know much about it till I went for the interview.
Nothing against UT, but I've been to Knoxville a couple times, and I wasn't too thrilled about it. A friend of mine who went there told me to look elsewhere cause he didn't think it'd be a good fit for me.
I totally understand... Ive always been a UT hater... hahaha... not the vet school but just the university... orange is my least favorite color and UT fans get on my nerves hahaha.. I guess thats what happens when you live in a state and you are not a fan of the main State university lol. Now im a huuuge Mizzou fan and was laughing my butt off when we beat UT here at home last season.. lol Black and Gold are way more appealing colors to me lol
Hahaha I totally know what you mean. Even some of the buildings on UT's campus have an orange-ish hue to them. It's pretty ridiculous...I was always like...seriously? There's not enough orange on this campus already? But I loved how much school spirit Mizzou people have. Even in vet school, it's not just seen as another place to do work - it's a community 🙂
For sure!!! We seriously have so much fun... during out first 2 IP's we had a Mizzou team spirit day competition with the 2nd year student and the first years actually won and the Dean of student and Alumni affairs provided us donuts! We also had a " alumni day" where we could all where our undergrad shirts/colors since we cant wear other college/university logos... for halloween we wore costumes to class which was really fun bc the faculty also got involved.. and for christmas we had an ugly sweater day.
There are quite a few of us that go tail-gaiting for football games and a lot of people went to cheer on our volleyball team during the fall - they had a record setting season winning the SEC championship. There is a lot of things to be proud of here, the vet school, athletics, etc.
Wow you guys have a ton of fun! Ideally that would (hopefully) make coping with the schoolwork a bit less stressful...then again, it is vet school after all. But it's good to see faculty are involved with everything that goes on.
You can't wear other college/university logos? Hmm...I feel like I wear different college shirts all the time, so I'll have to remember that. Not that it's a big deal though. Mizzou seems like a great community to be a part of! I'm already getting excited!
Yea, Mizzou has a "dress code" per se .... basically it consists of:
- no other university logos.
- no sweat pants / yoga pants / scrubs ( except in anatomy lab and also during clinics on rotations that you wear scrubs for)
- no jeans with excessive holes in them
and thats pretty much it!
Each class has the ability to vote and add things / remove things from the dress code.. for instance, my class voted and we are allowed to wear Professional sport team shirts and flip flops..
At first not being able to wear other university logos was a drag to me bc I played softball at my university and I have a ton of shirts.. But, Mizzou starts our new shirt collection pretty quickly.. we are given a t shirt at orientation as well as a polo.. then we are given another t shirt right before the first anatomy exam.. I find that I wear Mizzou vet med shirts all of the time. I think it would be pretty weird if my classmates wore other university shirts, especially if those shirts were of other vet schools... I guess I just think we all should be supportive of our school but that is just my opinon lol
