Hi, guys
I just wanna make sure after we finish all the pre-reqs,
we just need to send out the transcripts and update the pharmcas.
not the usc supp. app. right?

Thanks in advance~!

Right, I'm pretty sure you don't have to update the supp app. Just send USC the transcript. But if you deviate from what you said you were going to do...like you end up taking a different prereq, I would maybe e-mail them, so they know what to look for when they get your transcipt. I got an updated lac letter after I sent a transcript.

Still on hold. Just got the e-mail 👎

hey guys! I just got an email from Xin about my acceptance! :soexcited: I interviewed in January. I was pretty surprised to get an email because I thought I would hear through snail mail. Check your emails!!! Good luck!!!

Same here!!!! Wooohoooo 🙂 It definitely came by surprise, because I was expecting snail mail as well. I thought I was going to hear back from Western this weekend before I heard back from USC, but alas! Good news.

congrats you two! havent heard yet..but of course they cant send out everything out once :xf: but i wish i didn't know because now i'll check my email way too often 😛

hey zztech! I see that you got into Midwestern-glendale as well! So did I! I'll be losing my 1k deposit though since USC is my first choice. I guess it's a good thing that I was placed on hold for Touro and Western because I would've lost even more money.

Hey monkieez! I think you should hear something by Monday the 14th. That's the date that Xin gave in the email regarding when we should receive the big envelope by. Don't quote me on this though.

Interviewed on 1/22 and just got my acceptance e-mail!!! 😀
I didn't expect to hear from them so quickly! (Especially since they kept saying it would be closer to 4 weeks 😛)
Anyone know how long we have to put down a deposit?

i also received the acceptance email from xin!!!!!!
congratz to those who got in ~c ya @ USC this fall 😍

this school has been MIA... when's the next round of invites??

this school has been MIA... when's the next round of invites??

I believe it is Saturday, February 26. My friend already got an invite to this interview date back in January but I'm sure they are still sending out invites since it's still a couple of weeks away. I didn't receive my invite for the January interview until two weeks prior. Good luck!

did anyone got of the AC list from Nov interview?

Got my acceptance email from Xin Gong today too!!
SO EXCITED! Still waiting to hear back from UCSD though.

Had the 1/22 interview and just got the AC letter, such a disappointing feeling. I thought the interview went well enough, but maybe the writing portion did me in. I can only hope that what happened to hermj and infern0 can happen to me as well. The feeling wouldn't suck as much if I didn't want to go to USC this badly, but I suppose I'll always have Michigan as my backup....

I also received my AC letter. Although I am sad, it is what I predicted! Because I did terrible on the writing portion, I can't expect the best result!

AC for me too! oh well. seems like they sent acceptances by email yesterday and holds for the jan ppl today.

Hi EVeryone

New here... sorry, dumb question... but what does AC mean exactly? Like alternate?

Dont give up. I am sure good things are to come. At least you all heard from USC. I havent even heard anything yet :/

I took a class over the fall (stats) and was late in getting the update transcripts to them... ill prob get denied.

Only had one interview at Western so far.. still waiting to hear back from them. Its almost been 2 weeks.. am dying lol

Other then that, just waiting to hear from USC and Loma Linda.. decided to try and stay in California... big mistake possibly... lol

AC stands for active consideration. Just think of it as a nice way of saying waitlisted or possibly rejected. After every interview session they'll re-evaluate everyone again and see if any AC people will be offered admission.

Are you originally from Socal? Cuz it seems like you applied to schools in Southern California only. USC does interview 1/3 of their applicants, So we'll see how it goes. I didn't know they had a deadline for the fall grades update. Did you receive an email response stating what you're still lacking?

I'm just curious, For those who interviewed or got invited to upcoming interview for USC, did you guys complete your science prerequisites at a 4 year institution or at a community college?

Hello! Mostly at a community college - but some in a 4 year. I went to an info session and Ms. Gong was adamant in saying that if you went to a CC you need to have good grades. However, everything depends on your whole app- statements, etc. Just get that interview!!!!

I'm sure that they want you to complete as many science courses as possible at a UC or CSU. No matter how you slice it, you cannot compare CC courses to university level courses. So take all your cell bio, biochem, anatomy, physio etc... courses at a 4 yr school.

4 year at a UC. My friend who has an upcoming interview completed majority of her prereqs at a 4 year institution and the rest at a CC.

But I definitely agree that USC looks at everything, not just your GPA or where you completed your courses. Extracurricular activities, strong LORs, pharmacy experience, leadership experience, etc. are really important as well.

Just wanted to put in my status for those people who might be in the same boat:

Submitted my PharmCAS a few days before the deadline and the supplemental around the same time, received an update on my "File Number" (one missing prereq) on Jan. 28, haven't received any interview invitations or anything else since.

Boring, I know.

Thank you monkieez, and yes BabyBelle I am letting go of the 1K for MWU CPG, which has given me peace of mind for the past few months, but I am extremely happy because USC is one of my top choices as well 🙂 I just got the official acceptance folder today with all the forms.

As for pre-reqs, I took all my science courses at a UC. I asked Ms. Gong about it at one of the information sessions, and she says they prefer it to be from a 4-year institution.

definitely hopping on that boat with you. i sent them an update on my status. told them classes I finished and classes i'm in the process of taking. they replied back the next day saying my application status was updated and to send them fall transcripts to make it official.

YAWN

Did you guys complete your Prereq at a 4 year institution? I know that they give preference to those who completed the courses at 4 year colleges because they stated that on their webpage. Also, It's clear that EVERY poster on this thread thus far had one way or another complete their Prerequisite at a UC, Cal State or other 4-year schools. I wonder if they save the last interview for non-science majors /those who attended cc for their science coursework.

I actually did a majority of my prereqs at CC before I transfered to a UC where I finished up a the rest of my science prereqs like physiology, biochem & molecular bio.

DEFINITELY remember hearing (from xin?) at their info session last summer that they prefer applicants finish their prereqs at a 4-year university but that it wasn't required. I think she also mentioned they preferred applicants who finished their prereqs at the same institution, which i definitely didn't do hah

don't exactly have my heart set on going to SC but knowing it's a great school and being a native so cal kid, i couldn't NOT apply 😎

Which part of SoCAL? OUt of the 4 soCAL pharmacy schools, which would you say you're closest to? Driving on the freeway, I'm like 5 minutes from USC and 30min from Western.

I would be closest to UCSD. probably 10 minute drive to skaggs from my hood. i got rejected from them back in december hah same with UCSF. i was expecting it but just flat out not even getting a rejection letter (i'm looking at you SC) sucks! :/

During the January interview session when Mr. Granderson went around and asked what school everyone attended and what their majors were, besides the usually bio, biochem, & chem majors, there were a few students who were psychology majors and other non-science majors. I don't quite remember exactly.

are Feb invites already out?

I know people that received their February invites before the January interview already. Most likely, there will not be anymore interview invite this week for the February interview.

When I called a couple of days before my January interview to see if I could reschedule, they said that both February and March interview days were booked so that if I was really feeling that unwell I would have to wait until after all interviews are done. So that means that all interviewees are selected but of course I don't know if they have gone ahead and notified people. Also, if there are last minute cancellations they might contact people last minute to fill the open slot.

For Prereqs: I took my Cell Bio and Biochem at 4 year.
GChem, Ochem, Physics, Calc, Bio, Anat/Phys, and just about everything else at CC.

Don't get me wrong, my analytical chem, physical chem, and bioinorganic chem were all at 4 year, but in regards to just prereqs, I went cheap.

No problem. It's not impossible but their preference of choice would be to complete your upper divs at a 4 year, which you did (cell bio, biochem).
For people transferring to UC/CSU those schools recommend you complete GChem, OChem, Physics, Calculus, General Bio at CC anyhow. Anatomy/Phyio can go either way since there are lower and upper division courses in Anat/Psyio.

Of course costs are an issue for many people, so if it's out of the budget the CC would be the way to go. If not, then take it a 4 year where it is more rigorous and intense.

does anyone know when is the last day to invite people for interview, i know there's one interview in March, and someone mentioned Feb26 earlier is the day to send out the next invitation. So that means after Feb26, I should consider as being rejected? I so want this waiting thing to be over and know if I should continue taking my last 2 prereqs

It's really hard to say because they can invite you even 1 week prior to the interview date. People do decide to decline their interview invitation so they find people to take their spots.

If you are planning on reapplying to USC, then you can go ahead and take those prereqs so you have them for the next cycle.

I called the admissions office yesterday and they said that March interviews will go out during the first week of March.

Does USC have anything on the supplemental application that indicates if any members of your family have attended one of their health sciences campuses (Med School, Pharm School, etc.)?

the email from xin said that 3 ppl from nov AC list have been admitted!!! is there anyone here who was one of the three?

this school is still MIA. should I assume I was rejected?

is there any tap students/ or previous tap students who are reapplying here?
