University of Texas Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
something is not adding up. I would guess that only wait-list acceptances remain. You would imagine that if more regular acceptances were going to be sent, that they would have either been sent in the bulk group last friday, or today. Either way, I'm so tired of all of this, I want to block myself from this forum. lol.

i really dont think all of the acceptances have gone out yet... i know alot of good candidates who havent heard a thing. just doesnt make any sense you know?

This person said some people got rejection letters already. Good news if we haven't gotten one yet?

The rejection letters could be for those folks who didn't get an invite for an interview. For all anyone knows, it could be something purely procedural like that. I also doubt the rejection letters are for those who have interviewed and are awaiting a response. There are too many variables to assume anything at this point.

welcome to the pharmacy version of facebook lol.

but yeah im hoping they have the waitlist-acceptances remaining. the anticipation for the rejection letters are like having a dying animal live for an unnecessary 5 more hours.

I emailed Dr. Wilcox today morning. He replied and told me I was rejected and I will get a formal letter soon. 🙁

Im sorry 🙁 that sucks. Atleast you know the result. I dont even know and too scared to find out.....*gulp*

I'm afraid if i bother him, he'll have reason reject me, though I'm not afraid of the results. Just want to find out. Think I'm just paranoid android.

I previously posted that the person who got the rejection letter was already interviewed. So this means that basically the ones who got reviewed during the first session by the adcomm have probably gotten a rejection letter already. Im pretty sure that more rejections should be out from this past week when the adcomm met.

It still says

We've received all the items that are required to review and process your application....

for those accepted last friday, what is the deadline on accepting/declining the offer? also...one of my friends just declined her offer so one more seat has opened up 🙂

This is so weird that UT is taking so long to send out all the acceptances. I feel like last year it was a lot faster.

The deadline is April 4th.

Ahhhh! This is such torture not knowing! It's a good thing I work all day so at least I can get my mind off of this for awhile. But then I race home in hopes of receiving an email. And then when I see nothing then I do the dreaded walk to the mailbox. Nevertheless, today there is nothing in my email or mailbox. So I think I'll go to sleep right now so tomorrow can come faster.

I haven't lost hope yet. An SD member said that they had talked to the admissions office and they replied saying that there are still offers left to be sent. We just have to suffer and wait and suffer some more.

I have a theory as to why the notifications are slow...first, this is the first time UT is NOT doing a rolling admissions so I guess they weren't prepared for this massive demand. For those of you who have been accepted, please confirm or deny this next statement, I think the admissions committee has to look at each person's transcripts and determine the prerequisite courses they need to fulfill prior to entering the program. If this is the case, then the office of admissions definitely would take longer to individually review everyone's application and email them out one-by-one. Based on these premises I believe is the answer to our long and torturous test of patience. Agree/Disagree???

I have to say I disagree. They only interviewed 250 candidates, starting in January, and presumably those candidates for interview had already been narrowed down to those with a certain z score, and those who were actually eligible for enrollment.

I think they are just being slow, because their UT, their #4 in the nation, and they can take as long as they want and most ppl here will still say yes.

But then again this may just be my extreme case of nerves speaking. :barf:

sdyakhin is right. Dr Wilcox emailed me saying they used the z-score to determine who gets interview and then use the interview + z-score to determine who gets offered. also i dont think the rolling admission factor comes into play bc last years class was the first time they did not use rolling admission.

there are some schools that are no where near #4 in the nation and still take forever to let students know - sort of a double whammy imo.

Someone has already said that the emails are blind carbon copies, meaning that they are sent out in groups. So they meet, decide, send a bunch of offers, wait a couple weeks, rinse and repeat. I would assume that before even offering interviews they would make sure we've already met the prereqs, but I could be wrong. Has UT always done rolling admissions in the past? Because in that case you could be right about them not being as prepared as they thought they would be if they made a drastic change to their process this year.

Haha I think it's just a mean April Fools joke. "Just kidding! We had these emails ready to go along, but boy was it funny to watch y'all freak out over the suspense." 😛

I opt for this version of events. They just want to play with my emotions, and as such have inspired the latest changes to my siggy....

It's a complete mystery, and probably will forever remain that way, on how they choose who they choose. I can vouch that it has nothing to do with completing pre-requisites as I am currently completely mine this semester (meaning they aren't yet on my transcript that was sent to UT following last semester). Personally, I think they throw all our names into a giant hat, and the first 125 get the beloved email. But that's just a theory (;

I made it! I get a chance at the Goblet of Fire! No UT yet though :[

I'm 100% sure they used this same process last year, and somewhat sure they did it the year before.

Didn't someone say they said all will be out by first week of April?

i'm pretty sure one of the handouts the UTCOP had in the folder they gave us at the interview told us that. "early april" i believe it said. i'm not 100% sure though because i don't have it with me right now.

Well there ya go... Cmon that's not so bad? Only like one week pretty much. Wouldn't you want them to take their time reviewIng your app instead of rushing through it? Patience is a virtue

yeah, its not the waiting thats so bad... its just not knowing if your application has been reviewed or not

Yea but they already made the decision. They just laggin on letting us know. In any case, at least we have a timeline. Im just wondering why some ppl got accepted last week and the others next week? Perhaps the same reasoning for having the first round ppl notified a week earlier?

On my previous post about the whole prereq thing... Ms Spencer told me that a " more thorough review of my prereqs" would occur IF I got in. I live in Cali so I asked her what prereqs I needed since the 2 states' semester schedule is a little off.

I Suggest emailing dr wilcox. I just did and he told me at least that I'm not denied but on the waitlist. He will meet with the adcomm today to finalize ranks and email students with their place on the list soon. At least I know I'm not denied! Still crossing my fingers!!

thats good to hear for you. wishing the best of luck to you. Do you know if all rejection letters have been sent out? at this point getting at the waitlist would make me happy. if you dont mind, could you give me your stats, im curious to see how i would stack up against the rest of remaining seats.

Do you know his direct email? I think the only one I have is to his secretary, or is that who you are emailing??

Thanks!

Thanks! I am too, but I decided just to bite the bullet. :xf::xf:

Email sent!

where can we find how many people were accepted off of the wait list in recent years? i recall some people were reporting earlier that ~25 are??

I just don't wanna bug Wilcox or the admissions office about something we should find out soon, so I'm really trying to do the whole patience thing, but I might cave if I don't hear something by the end of this week.

I just called them and the lady in admissions claimed that they are sending acceptances this week (2nd batch..yay). And then waitlist numbers by mail. Tell me if I am wrong.

I would have to say that not all the denials have gone out based only upon what someone else posted earlier yesterday saying that Dr wilcox told them that they will be getting a denial letter in the mail soon. This only means that denial letter are on their way and not all have been sent out yet. Now if you are waitlisted then this won't count for you yet because u may get an acceptance or denial letter in the near future. I just need to know what number I am on this dang list!

i just got an email that i was rejected... idn what could have happened bc i had a great interview and good stats. owell i was having trouble deciding b/t two schools but now i dont have to 🙂 good luck to yall!!
