hey guys! So my LOR is not completed, but i'm going to submit and try to make it in tier 2. I've emailed Mrs. Veronica and she said everything has to be "recieved" but not "processed" so i'm under the impression that pharmcas isnt actually completed?

can someone clarify that for me. Most likely i would be in tier 3, right? 🙁 sigh

Everything has to be RECEIVED by PharmCAS by September 1st to make Tier 2. If your LOR is not in PharmCAS, I don't believe that it is considered complete. When they refer to "processing" they mean GPA calculations, etc.
I could be mistaken, but I think all of the required LORs need to have been received by PharmCAS for your app to be complete.

Okie thanks! i actually just went back and read an old email i got from her and you are exactly right! thanks again 🙂 i guess its tier 3 for me.. completely my fault! sigh.. better luck next time i guess 🙁

No problem though...and if you're a competitive enough applicant you'll get in even if you are tier 3, so it doesn't mean your chances are out!

I actually put 4 recommenders in pharmcas, but there were only 3 LORs submitted so far. Since UOP only requires 2 LORs, does it still process my application even though there is 1 missing? oh noo...

No...I'm fairly certain that they send them out as they come. So if you already e-submitted, as long as the two that were required were received by the deadline you should be good to go. The others will just be extra when they come.

From UOP's web site:

In order to meet this priority deadline, you must submit your PharmCAS application by midnight Eastern Standard Time (9:00 p.m. PST) on this date. All transcripts and recommendations must be received by PharmCAS by this date.

Ok, well when they say "ALL" transcripts, they are referring to the ones that are required by their school.

Since UoP only requires 2 LORs they will process your app as long as at least 2 LORs are available (one from a pharmacist and one from a professor). PharmCAS will not wait to receive all 4 LORs before mailing out your app. As they become available they will forward them to the schools.

UOP mailed me a letter saying that my supplemental application has been received. When I checked the status checker online, it said "no admission application for the semester you selected has been received by the Admission Office." I'm assuming it said this because it still has not received my Pharmcas application? Thanks.

Did UOP confirm Tier 2 for anyone on application checker? Mine says no information...I am worried about hitting Tier 2 :scared:

I made it to Tier 1, but I didn't see stuff on application checker until early last week. I wouldn't worry about it if you sent everything on time. I sent my stuff postmarked 1 day before the deadline.

Do they need to receive the course description/resume and other extra stuffs for the supp application before Sep 1st for me to be considered in Tier 2? Anybody know? Since I submitted PharmCas and the supplemental app around mid August but completely forgot about the course description...

Yes, everything involved in the supplemental app needed to have been completed and submitted by September 1st for Tier 2.
 
I e-submit my PhamCAS on Aug 10th and it was mailed on Aug 30th. I submitted my suppl online on Augh 17th and mailed a hardcopy of my resume on Aug 25th...but still haven't heard from them

I'm sure you're fine. My e-status checker took 3 weeks from when PharmCAS mailed out to reflect my Tier 1 date. I'd give it a couple more weeks 🙂
 
I went to the preview day this morning. Veronica said that they are going to send some invitation letters out later this month probabely on the 20th.😱
 
Preview day was awesome. It definitely made me want to go to UoP even more now. Veronica is such a sweet heart!
 
Oh, ya she is nice.
I skipped the faculty presentation, anything worth knowing from that??!!

The faculty presentation is meant to just give you a feel for the lectures there.

yeah, you didn't miss anything. the first professor had a voice that'll make you drowsy. the next professor who talked about his cancer research actually put me to sleep. the third professor, dr. wagner, actually gave a good mini-lecture on sunburns, cancer, etc.
 
Listening to one of the current UOP student from Hawaii...it seem they only select him because of his race... he said he did not had an interview with UOP because he was in Hawaii, so he had to select a local pharmacist to receive a letter from UOP to interview him... so there some quota.

When I attended the info day last summer, UoP mentioned they accepted only 1 applicant w/o a bachelors the prior year.

I actually found that student to be extremely articulate and professional. I don't think his race had anything to do with it, although I agree that interview situation was odd.
Going to the preview day kinda made me even more discouraged than I already was, when I heard half of their seats go to their pre-pharm students. I'm not anticipating receiving an interview letter on the 20th, but we'll see. I did receive my pre-requisite checklist letter in the mail on Friday, so at least that's good to go.


Where did you get that that person without a degree
was 58, when their statistics showed 56 was the
oldest applicant they've had, and that was in the 2009
entering class?

Hi Mandydp6,

Why attending the preview day made you feel more discouraged because half of their seats went to their pre-pharm students (the 2+3 year route) and not the transfer students? 😕

Yes, because it means transfer students are at a slight disadvantage. But mostly because of the fact they only admitted one student without a degree last year. Although I will be in senior status, I won't have my degree finished by next fall.

See that's one of the reasons why I am not putting all my eggs in one basket. I figured if for some reason I don't get accepted, then I will just work towards completing my degree and rethink my options next year and decide whether or not I will be applying to pharmacy school or medical school or both.

welcome to the real world. Every school in the nation has some quota. Especially medical school
 
@Mandydp6: I see, I talked to a new intern at the pharmacy. She has a pretty good stats, she applied last year and didn't get in. It just makes me think that it sometimes depends on luck. 😉

Yeah, finishing a degree would certainly not be a bad thing. My biggest concern with having to re-apply is having to bother 3 or 4 more people for recommendations.
I wonder if people can use the same ones...I also wonder if people use the same essays (unless of course the adcoms told them that their essays were the inhibiting factor).
My eggs definitely aren't in one basket - I applied to 6 different schools 🙂

I asked everyone to retain the LORs in case I need it in the future so I wouldn't be worried about that personally. I would probably tweak my essay but for the most part I will be using the same one.
