University of the Pacific Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was the guy with the shaved head in the second group....yeah today definitely made UoP a top choice school that I would want to go to. I'm actually considering UoP before UCSF now....I really liked the closeness that everyone seemed to have with each other and the multiple amount of activities to potentially get involved in.....

I believe that you were standing behind me in the Chan Health Center

One down. For my fellow individuals that had the interview yesterday does anyone know how each applicant is rated?

Haha. I have 4 piercings but I made sure to take my earrings out the night before because I more than likely would have forgotten about them. They were noticeable to me because I am generally observant like that. I don't think they will hurt your chances since you were being..well, yourself.

Haha, you looked quite different that day from your picture.

They said we will get the result in 2- 3 wks, right? Anxious! This is the only school I applied for! I like the professor. He is so nice. The student interviewer is very pretty. I love her eye lashes. They don't look real. We did discuss about her eyelashes and mascara at the end of our interview. Hope it won't hurt her comments on me. Sometime I just can't stop talking. Em, I am old, much older than you guys.

An admissions decision in 2-3 weeks? Really? I thought that they all went out at the same time next year.

You are probably not that much older than me....I'm 30...but hey 30 is the new 20 right......

Then I guess I am 12 then.:meanie:

Yes. That way we don't get lumped in with everyone else especially since we were the first group to interview.

Having to wait 2 or 3 weeks is hard enough.....I don't think I would be able to wait until next year

Anyone who interviewed on Friday mind sharing how the process is? Thanks in advance! I'm scheduled for the 29th and any advice would be great.

The interview process was more relaxing compared to other schools. It's one on one with a professor and student. There's a tour, writing sample, and interview. Just be yourself and good luck

Thanks a lot. Good luck on your app!

Hi. I wanted to see if anyone is going to have an interview on 11/5?
Mine is on 11/5, and I am getting nervous now!

Good luck everyone!

I am. Where are you coming from?

I believe I'm part of the last ppl to interview from Tier 1. I got invited by email. May I ask why?

I read that some people from Tier 2 already received their interview invites, and I'm from Tier 2. 🙁 So far I didn't receive anything yet. Sigh 🙁

I do not think you should be too depressed yet. Correct me if I am wrong, but Tier 1 seems to have multiple interview dates (10/15, 10/29, and 11/05----from what I know). Since the first interview date for Tier 1 is probably full, there are still more dates to come, which is also to say that more interview invites will come.

Have hope and do what you do.

(I am also a Tier 2 member if you are curious)

If I turned in my app on Aug 1st but it was confirmed on Aug 2nd does that mean I am tier 2?

If you go to their website, there should be dates.
when it says 8/1/10 on the receiving dates, then you are in tier one.
If it says 9/1/10 on the receiving dates, then you are in tier two.

As far as I understand though, if all of your stuff is postmarked on 8/1/10, you should be tier 1.....

Does anyone know how the school is going to notify us of our status? Is it through e-mail, mail, or phone call?

Hey, I have an interview scheduled for the 29th. Just wondering, if you are accepted, do you know how long you get to reserve your spot?

I know this has been discussed earlier in this thread but for those who interviewed already (or those who will interview), do you recommend bringing a portfolio?

I'm planning on driving to Stockton after work for the interview next week. Therefore I expect to arrive in Stockton around 11pm. I heard that Stockton has a high crime rate. Would it be dangerous to drivie alone at that hour?

The area of Stockton that I was in was actually pretty peaceful. It was close to the school.

PS. I drove from San Francisco last Thursday night. Got to Stockton around 10:45pm and had no problems.

I met a guy named Jason on my interview day and has the same story as yours. Maybe, it is you lol. With a green collar shirt, right?

I am also from Tier 2 and still have not heard from UOP... Good luck to you! Maybe we will hear from them sometimes next month?!.... :xf:

Hey PD11,

I am also a Tier 2 applicant and is still waiting. I am just curious, do you have any extra-curricular activities and pharmacy-related experience, because your stats should have qualified you have an interview already.

I just volunteer at a local hospital and a free medical clinic, in their pharmacy department for about a year or so... But I submitted my app at the latest time possible for Tier 2, around the end of August...

Thank you for the reply delano. I have a reservation at a hotel that's on March Lane and from what I gather that's where most of the hotels are located. So I'm assuming it'll be ok? 🙂

I believe that gang-related crimes had decrease although, I might be wrong on that. Car thefts are the most common crimes around the Central Valley and Stockton area. Crime pretty much happens everywhere, you just need some street smarts and avoid shady areas and shady people. Just get in and get to your destination safely! You can carry a pepper spray if you feel insecure about the area.

Bring a portfolio! You can take notes on information about the school or use it to take notes during an interview.
