Wow good luck to you on your midterms, and don't stress about interview invites because I'm sure you are getting one 🙂 And ya I think they will be putting up the cut offs tonight but its unlikely that the percentiles will increase from last years.
Good luck everyone 😀 We're sooooo close!!!!

Thanks for your wishes 🙂 And I'm sure you'll get one too 😛

less than 3 hours everyone!

lol its gonna be so disappointing if we are all on sdn at 12 and they don't post it.

Are they going to post it at midnight, Eastern time?
I'm from the Pacific time zone, so will I expect an invitation/rejection at 9pm?

Nope (though I wish it were so🙄) midnight is when they posted the PCAT Cutoffs last year. If your PCAT scores are all above the posted cut offs then you will most likely be invited to the interview 😀😀😀. The formal invites will probably go live sometime tomorrow (probably in the afternoon/evening).

30ish minutes to go, but I got an early class tomorrow, so I'm retiring for the night 😴. Cudos to all of you who are staying up though and good luck 👍.

whoa, i was not expecting cut offs to drop so dramatically! wow =\

HOLLY COWWWW !!! are you kidding me?

This is just, I mean wow... just speechless.

I would've literally killed myself if RC went down, but it didn't 🙂 RC was the only thing that hindered me from getting in last year and if they lowered it this year I would've explode!

and bio and quant is 10.. common that is ridiculously low. i guess they wanna give more ppl a chance with the interviews?

This moment is kind of bittersweet, I thought the bar should have been higher so they could weed out lesser applicants. I don't really feel special knowing that I'm part of the 80% that meet the requirements thus far.

I guess 😕

What I don't get is that RC is the one things that most people struggle with and is usually the lowest score for a lot of people, yet that's the only section that wasn't dropped compared to last years. 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕

Why can't they just cut out the interview all together then? lol BTW where did you guys find this?

it must be because of the decrease in applicants, if they kept the cut offs high i guess that would eliminate a large portion of the applicant pool - leaving relatively little to interview, thus our chances would be better of getting in. i suppose this way they will still interview 2x the number of available seats.

Also important to note is that the letter pretty much says that if you meet the min requirements for both PCAT and GPA + have pre-reqs you are GUARANTEED an interview. So I guess if you fall into that category congrats!

EXACTLY!

Here's my hypothesis:

There were rumors that 600-something people applied. And this makes perfect sense now because they interview 500 people and in order to fill all those 500 interview spots they need to keep roughly 80% of that 600-something applicants.

So are you saying then... that out of the group that met those requirements, there's a 50 percent chance in getting in.

that sounds about right. although i'd like to see it as greater than 50% b/c currently they will be interviewing people with pretty low pcat scores, and if they increase the cut offs post interview, then that increases the chances of getting in with a good score.

Ok, if 600 people applied, 80% means there is around 480 people left. Do any of you know how many they are taking in this year?

i actually heard that too from a different source than sdn though. i think it makes sense why they lowered the cutoffs.

bittersweet indeed, why couldn't U of T just interview less people, why do they want 500

Alrightt, early class tomorrow. Goodnight all, go to sleep 😴

Please please please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want a falsified sense of hope.

Just because we meet the PCAT cut-off requirements, doesn't mean we automatically get that interview invitation, right? Someone speculated earlier that even though we meet the cut-off's, they can still take the better ones out of that group. I'm not too sure if I should be happy that I met the cut-off marks, which I already knew I would, or if I should still worry about being weeded out from the group.

Or they could keep last years cutoff and automatically end up rejecting like 70% of applications and save us from the interviews 🙁

When they lower the cutoffs this much, this is a sign that they were having trouble filling all those 500 interview spots! So I would say that as long as you exceeded all the PCAT cutoffs AND have that minimum GPA cutoff AND have all the prerequisites you should theoretically be granted an interview !

Interview I guess will pretty much determine who is in the top 50%. I think this huge drop on cut off shows that u of t regard interviews are much more important than PCAT.

yes. 50%. maybe less considering theres only 240 seats.

the cut off is there to select the 500 people. In other word, the 500th rank should have close to the minimum cut off PCAT scores

There is 600 interview spots. They interviewed 600 people last year, not 500.

WOOW I am totally blown away!!! On their FAQs they said that the requirements for pcat aren't going to be lower than in 2010 and they just SIGNIFICANTLY lowered them. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but its really not fair. For all of us who studied and tried hard to get good marks on the pcat, it basically means nothing now because people with very low scores will be in the same position as people with high scores. I would've liked it if they just kept them the same and allowed the people with the mininums to do the interviews as normal; at least we would've had a better chance at getting in. I'm finding that every year, UofT just keeps lowering their standards. In the previous years, admission was based on marks and then they introduced the pcat and now they have the interview which makes up a chunk of their acceptance decisions. But I guess there's nothing I can do about it 🙁

This is total BS. I applied this year and was taking STAT because they required it. After getting the pCAT results and finding that I didn't do well on bio, I figured I wouldn't get an interview due to missing the cutoff from last year that they had and said that it likely will be the same so I dropped STAT since I wasn't enjoying the course. Now according to these new cutoffs, I might actually get an interview which means that even if I do great in it, without STAT, I probably won't get any acceptance either way 🙁 For the record, I have all the other requirements and my GPA is more than enough, bio just went screwy this time around 😛

Hello all,

I have been a long time follower of this forum, but this is my first post. I finally decided to join since it is interview time now.

Thank you to everyone who provided useful info here that has been very helpful to me in the past.

Congratulations to everyone with invitations!

I just checked mine and it’s in two weeks. At first I felt very special to be invited and was thinking that I must be at least in the top 50% of applicants out of possibly 600-1000 students, but after checking the cut offs, I feel the same uncertainty I did yesterday. I mean the only applicants that must have been cut off is students that were just testing out what the pcat is like for possibly next admission. How could anyone that studied honestly for more than a couple days get anything lower than the minimums (except maybe on the VC and RC which can surprise a lot of people).

Anyways, it is still an accomplishment to be in the interview, and I am still very happy that I got invited. I will be trying to find as much info as possible in the next week and hopefully share it with all of you.

yayy good thing we didn't have to wait till the afternoon like last time. Mine is on saturday may 14th at 1:45pm, anyone else have that same session??😀😀

14th 9am. I signed up on the 10th so I guess it really is first come first pick 😛

Hey you should feel a little good. Remember, to even be eligible to apply to pharmacy takes a lot of hard work. You have to meet GPA cutoffs, get a decent PCAT and take all the required courses (which were a lot this year), so even getting to the interview stage is still an accomplishment. I can't tell you how many students I have come across this year that are interested in pharmacy but didn't have the courage to apply because they are afraid they would be rejected b/c of low marks, low PCAT, etc. so at least we all had the courage to put in an application and we have a chance of getting in.

My interview date is March 26th Saturday Session C..
I thought it was better to get over with this fast

your right, and also all the money we spent should at least give us an interview. In total for everything I think I have spent well over $1000, for application, 2 pcats, some pcat books and travel for the pcat in windsor.

I am worried...does this mean someone with a 40 percentile can get in while someone with an 80 composite doesn't...? I don't believe that everyone is equal right? They must look at pcat scores in some way...maybe they just wanted to fill the spots, but know those with below 50 won't be making it?

well we know that interviews are extremely important, so potentially yes this is possible. but it does say that these cut offs may be higher in the final decisions, meaning that they may raise the cut offs post-interview to weed out applicants.
