UPenn Class of 2025 Interview/Acceptance Thread

It seems like the last round of acceptances were sent out on 01/07, and those accepted have 30 days to place a deposit. I'm thinking that they are waiting to hear back from those applicants before issuing out a new round of acceptances? I'm also hoping that they send them out soon!
I thought that January acceptances only had 15 days since it goes down every month?

On the website, it said that it's 30 days after notification if received on or after 1/1 and 15 days after notification if received on or after 2/1. That's what they also mentioned during my info session. Also I wasn't accepted in Jan, so I'm just reading what they said on the website/my notes from the info session

Admissions - Penn Dental Medicine (It's under "the admissions process" tab)

Has anyone with a pre-Dec interview who didn’t get accepted on December 15th heard anything?

Those who got accepted previously, how long it took after the call to got the email? Lol

Does anyone know how hard classes are at penn? Is there grade inflation/deflation? I know only 1-10 are ranked but how hard is it to get A's and B's? Opinions for current students would be appreciated!

1-10 aren’t ranked. It’s just top 10% get some honors dinner thing from what I understand but those disappear by d3/d4 and they don’t report percentile to residencies, just GPA from what I have been told. Cant speak to grade inflation.

I think difficulty is really subjective! In reality, any dental school you go to is going to end up feeling like an overload of information and will be challenging academically. What I can say is that Penn's curriculum is extremely science-heavy and rigorous in that way. In general, the material itself is not difficult (and this is true for most dental schools), but it's more the volume of material that becomes a challenge. We sometimes learn things that go beyond what's actually required to know for boards but I've heard from upperclassmen that it makes them feel really prepared for boards. In most cases, averages on exams range from mid 80's to mid 90's, and courses aren't curved so if everyone in the class get's an A, that's the grade we all receive. No grade inflation/deflation and no ranks so in general it's a very collaborative environment.

An A is only 90%, which helps a ton. And the averages on most exams are pretty high. Not saying class material is easier than anywhere else, but it definitely helps to have a lower standard for an A. One teacher gave everyone a free 5% grade boost at the end of the course, and there are several little filler assignments in some classes that can help pad your grade a bit. Also, I think this might have changed for more recent classes, but our preclinic labs are all P/F which makes a big difference as far as having more time to study for other classes.

Just got a rejection in mail. In-state, 25AA, 3.5-3.7 gpa, 3.4-3.6 sgpa, president of pre-dental society, bilingual, etc. Disappointed.

So sorry to hear this :/ But thanks for the update. Did you interview at all? When did you submit?
No worries 🙂 I didn't get an interview. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to schedule a DAT test near me until early August, so my app wasn't considered complete until the very end of August. Submitted my app a few weeks after it came out, though. I don't think it got put into the "pile" until it was complete with the test score, but I'm not sure. Good luck to you!

I am sorry to hear about it. Did your status change on your adea website? I wonder if its because their class is full now

Status is currently still under review. I'm not sure- it could've been anything! But I wish you all luck 🙂

Thank you! Good luck to you too. I believe with your outstanding applications, you can get into other great schools as well!

For those who have submitted a deposit, did your status change on AADSAS?

Status still at none. Our AADSAS status will be changed sometime in March/April. Go by the deposit confirmation email(s) you should have received from PDM.

My friend got the call today! She wants to know if anyone else did and if they got any scholarships?

Does anyone know if Penn accepts P/F grading for this semester? Even though the acceptance letter says to get a C or higher?

My interview is next week! Does anyone have any advice for the interview?
