There is alot of information about students accepted into NYU, and their details, which seem to range as low as mid 80's on part 1.

Are there any confirmed UPenn accpeptances and what their part 1 scores and gpa were?

Thanks
Pinto

I know 2 people who scored in the mid 80s that were interviewed.

Hello pint.
I can see that you are new here. Welcome to the forums !
Did you try looking in the PENN threads ? How about conducting a small search ? Try searching UPENN threads and read on ... you should find what everyou are looking for there.
Here's a start ...

Ask them about their class mates.
PS: Try using the key words 'UPENN' and/or 'PASS' for your search. I am sure you can find more recent threads about that school too.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the response, Nile.

I actually went through all the pages on the international dentist forum (5) but I didn't realize that the search feature allows for searching pages not shown on the current forums.

By the way, for everyone's information, I found out that UPenn is strange and unpredictable. They accepted someone with an 87 part 1 but didnt accept someone with a 98. And they accepted a 2.7 GPA and not one almost 4. So I guess anything can happen with them.

By the way, good luck to everyone still waiting for responses. Don't get frustrated.

Upenn has the best admission policy, people will always be disgruntled.Upenn has the highest apllicant pool ,this year about 800 applied . its not easy to choose 30 people from this group and still make everyone happy.
The admitting faculty are very experienced and they can truly tell who deserves a shot.
They look at the whole package and give people a fair shot, remember they are the cheapest AS to apply to.
there is never a way that you do it that will be fair to anyone.
there is some emphasis on diversity which i think is well founded.if you were the program director and for example decide to choose candidates based on the highest score in part 1,if you choose the first 30 and find out you only females from one ethnicity and country,i am sure you will consider other adjuntive criteria as well.
Remember there are so many experienced people who dont have very high part one scores, many people have Phd from their respective countries and here, others already have specialty training.
More than half of the people that get into AS programs every year dont have up to 90 on the part 1,its only on sdn you see people with a score of 91 asking if they need to retake, thereby creating panic amongst prospective applicants.
the passing mark for nbde is 75 and the national average for regular students usually hovers around 82 so why shouldnt a foreign dentist get into AS with a score less than 90?

There you go ! Now you might be on to something ...

HEY BIAFRA,
DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

i meant they have the least application fee, they also dont ridiculously ask you to send original copies of ECE, WES, NBDE or TOEFL they are ok with notarized copies hence making application really cheap.

Ok, now I see what you meant.
Your statement implied that they had the cheapest Advanced Standing program ... I was thinking, huh ? 🙂
Anyways, you might be right there.
It is a good thing that you chose to elaborate on that statement, because it could have mislead some people.
I am sure that you are aware of the fact that UPENN's PASS program is fairly on the expesive side, let alone the $17,000 summer program.
Thanks.
