USC School of Dentistry Class of 2028 Interview/Acceptance Thread

I asked around and people were admitted today + the class is basically full 🙁
To be honest I don’t think the class is still full because the other Facebook groups have over 190 people in it so I think we might have some room

supposedly they only know of one person that got in. I asked an admitted student so it wasn't a big wave. Maybe they are admitting one by one then?

The numbers keep going up so I think it was a decent wave today. I keep hoping something will happen even though there is like a 1% chance lol

Someone from my interview for accepted today. The interview was on April 11

For reapplicants, have you already submitted apps for other schools? How long of waiting Is too late? I was thinking of submitting early July

early july is fine
but if you are a reapplicant, it is more important to submit as early as you can...

Thank you! Also, is it true that reusing my personal statement is bad? I am planning on editing it and trying to make it better but I really like the personal experiences I talked about. I've heard people say don't reuse it though....

you should edit it and add what you have learned going through the last cycle
show how you have grown and become a better candidate...

thank you!! I will do that. Having such limited character count is hard haha.

what difference is it if your accepted now or last month in terms of finances
No there isn’t. I just mean if I am already spending the money to reapply should I risk it with another school and wait another cycle? Chances of getting in rn are SO low anyway

Someone told me that the class is full and they are just admitting slowly when people drop seats. Not sure how true this is though!

Does anyone know how many admin are in the GroupMe?

Any update this week? 😕
I haven't heard of anyone getting in .-. the group chats seem to have not changed either. I have a feeling people just aren't posting about getting in because I would be surprised if numbers have not gone up!

I submitted my reapplication for other schools, but I talked to a USC counselor and was told to hold off on submitting to USC until end of August. They are still admitting when people drop seats until August, but she couldn't tell me how many seats are open. Just keep hope guys! if someone drops a seat we might have a chance. I know it is slim but keep hope!

why would it matter if you held off from applying to USC?

I was told there is still chance of admission, even though slim. I could submit to USC now but if I am somehow accepted it would be a waste of money.

yeah, but if you don't add them until august, you are behind all the other people that have applied earlier...

and your application fee for this cycle is pennies compared to the $600-700k you are going to spend going to USC...

If I got to the interview point and was not admitted does that mean my interview did not go well? How can they determine this from the group PBL? I just don't know where I went wrong. I know there are plenty of amazing candidates but I'm feeling discouraged for this next cycle.

For accepted students this year and next year, a great housing opportunity is USC Grad House. USCGradHouse.com has a few openings. I’ve personally lived here before because it is the quietest option I could find and rooms are private. Its also likely more affordable (about $1000/month for private room + utilities) than your other options in LA. It has reserved parking available but street parking is surprisingly reasonable. It’s about 1.5 miles from USC. It took me 7-9 minutes to get to the Ostrow building via ebike. It’s close to USC, but not too close haha. I think Grad House 2 has a womens bathroom too. I currently don’t live inside the houses being advertised, but I do live in another property that is affiliated with USC Grad House. The management strongly persuaded me to make this text, but everything I said is 100.0% facts, so I am not overselling anything. You can contact/text me at (951) 834-5941 or one of the managers at (951) 750-2375. If you contact the manager, make sure you tell him that I referred you and that you are a dental student, that way he can prioritize you over other applicants. Use code “SH“(my initials) to get your first month rent free plus additional discounts.

You could do everything right and not get an offer. If you were rejected immediately after interview, then I would argue you need to improve there. If you were strung out on a waitlist, there were just other applicants who they preferred.

Yes i applied very late and interviewed in March.. put on the waitlist but other people were accepted off the waitlist. I know they are probably stronger candidates I just can’t think of where I went wrong which sucks ): I wish I knew.. I talked to a counselor and she told me to take more science courses because my science gpa is a 3.5 but there have been people admitted with lower science gpas. When she looked at my app she said everything else looked good and didn’t mention my interview. Could it actually be my gpa then?
