Took this recently.
The change in the number of questions per block was already enacted at my testing center. The test was 7 blocks of 40 and 1 of 38. The questions did not seem at all harder or longer, the extra time made the test time-management a little more comfortable. Only one abstract, no drug ads, and several multimedia.
Overall it felt very comparable to UWorld. There were a few off-the-wall questions, but plenty of bread and butter. I had several ethics questions that were incredibly difficult and did not seem to have any clear answer choice. I felt like the test was fair overall, but I made several simple mistakes that left me incredibly frustrated after the test. I'm trying not to dwell on the questions that I know I got wrong.
I felt like UWorld and Online MedEd provided the most utility during my studies. MTB2 seemed to have too many low-yield drugs, lack of treatment algorithms, and sparse Peds, Psych, Surg, and OBGYN sections. Some questions came from a Step 1 knowledge base outside of UWorld’s Step 2 Qbank scope. I used 1/2 of Kaplan’s Qbank, but found more than a couple errors from out of date guidelines (many from ~2012). Overall, I would suggest studying hard for each rotation, generous use of UWorld during and after rotations, and supplementing weak areas with OME or a trusted resource.
Now time for the long wait till September 14th.
