fotolilith said:Yeah, I know! You're lucky it doesn't snow in Houston, or nobody would be able to find you!![]()
neoncandle said:P.S. Anyone want to get together Friday night? There is a GREAT Cuban place downtown.. a place with traditional cuban food and yummy mojitos.
ajnak182 said:I know exactly where you're talking about, and you are quite correct, they serve up a mean mojito. Hopefully you're having fun, unfortunately I need to get up at 6am on a Sat., cause I'm ******ed, so I won't be partaking in the high level of boozing that I wish to. There's always tomorrow night
On another note, considering the high percentage of albinos in our class, maybe we should have a contest to see who in fact is the whitest of the white folk, winner gets a year membership to darque tan to satisfy all there wants and dreams relating to getting skin cancer

Brain said:This may be a dumb question, but are you guys wearing on Saturday? It sounds to me like shorts and tennis shoes for 12:30-4:30 at the Rec Center and then go home and change into something nice for The Lounge at 9:30.
Yeah I was wondering that too. I will be staying at my parents place that weekend so I will be driving myself to all the events.Valtry said:For those of you that are in Houston, do you know if there is ample parking at The Lounge? .
UT_mikie said:Hey guys. On the welcome weekend form it says we can bring spouses and "family." Does that mean parents? Is this an event I can (or would want to) bring my parents too or should I save it for the white coat ceremony? Thanks.
Mikie
PeterGriffin said:I'd say save the parents for white coat.
RangerD said:So, the 'family' reference is for folks with kids to bring the little crumb-munchers?
DeepCowboy said:Should I bring my swimsuit? Or just shorts?
Brain said:I was wondering that myself. The paper did mentioned "pool games". I think I'm just going to bring mine and keep it in the car so I can retrieve it if I decide I want it.
getunconcsious said:Ugh, I hate pool parties. Guess I'll still be there though, since I already paid my 35 bucks. 🙄
SteveUTexas said:I and a handful of other Baylor accepted students have been getting together at Trudys Monday nights at 8 for happy hour and would like to extend the invitation to all the Austin area UTH folks. I figure since we are going to be spending the next 4 years as neighbors we might as well get to know each other and have a few drinks at the same time. If you would like more info feel free to PM me or utlake.
SEUPATTY said:couple questions concerning Welcome weekend if anyone can answer them. Thanks so much 🙂
1.) Can we park at the rec center, or do we need to ride the rail or take a bus?
2.) Is my boyfriend going to be totally bored at this and should I just let him stay home?
Also, I live in houston so if anyone needs a ride from a hotel, information, or anything else just pm me.
Thanks,
Trish

I am like 20 min nearby my parents are at the edge of missouri city and pearlandBrain said:I'd like to but I'm not 100% sure I could make it. I'm susposed to arrive in the late afternoon, but flights from Atlanta are always delayed. The question is how long.
Anyone in the Sugar Land area? My parent's recently moved out there and I'll be staying with them.

Jumping to a very different topic from welcome weekend...has anyone caught any of the first two episodes of Grey's Anatomy? I've been wanting to watch it but missed both of them because I kept forgetting...just wonderin thanks
Stitch626 said:That's so sweet of you. Which Trudy's location?
SEUPATTY said:Ahhh, I miss Austin 🙂
ajnak182 said:After finishing my first day of real work, I can't wait to start med school. It even amazes me how much of a bum I am. 1 day down, 4 months to go... By the way, are any school officials going to be at the Lounge, cause I'd hate to make a real ass outta myself if it's not already too late. Acceptances can still be rescinded, correct? Here's to rocking the casbah saturday night, stock up on your glow sticks

Valtry said:Just curious...did anyone else have to get the varicella immunization? I felt so out of place when I went to the Shots for Tots building to get it. Plus when the people asked out of disbelief, "You've NEVER had the chicken pox?!?!"...I just wanted to be like yes I have, but I just wanted to come down here for fun and be gawked at while twenty three year olds run around the room screaming because they didn't want to get a shot...![]()
I had my first two hep b shots and then didn't get my third until 2 years later. The doctor said that with the first two you get 75% immunity and that I didn't have to restart my series again. So they gave me my third shot and said i was done with it.Brain said:I had to get it when I started school at Emory. I've never had it either and I got similar reactions when I went to the doctor for it. They had to special order it for me and I was asked several times "Now why do you want this?". Speaking of shots, I probably need to get working on repeating my Hep B series. I only got the first 2 shots and was too lazy to get the third.
