Location. I am from Texas and it was a blessing to be able to stay here. Cheap tuition. The school is extremely affordable compared to OOS options. The faculty and staff are fantastic. Also, the sense of community was very important for me.
That's so interesting, as I heard UTSD has a community/family vibe whereas SA can have quite a competitive atmosphere. (A current student during lunch at my interview told me it usually switches: one year it's friendly, the next year it's competitive, etc) However I do agree that the staff and faculty are fantastic :)

It depends on the class you go in with. UTSD (from what others have said) is slightly easier/relaxed. If you want that atmosphere in school then that is your obligation. Some people prefer the level of difficulty UTHSCSA offers because they claim it prepares them better. In the end you get the same DDS degree. Everyone has an opinion on what they believe will serve them best!
Haha for sure!

Can someone explain this format of letting people know your interview invite? Particularly, the Interview # at the top. How are you getting information on which number of invitation you are.... or is this a type of interview, a wave of interview invite? I'm just very confused...
The number means the order of the interviews you have gotten. Let's just say that I got an interview from Texas A&M and next week I got it from UTSD. Texas A&M will be interview #1 and UTSD will be interview #2.

Hey everyone, current dental student here :) Just as a heads up, UTHSCSA has always been notoriously slow to give a response and anticipate alot of silence from them throughout the process. I interviewed early December and didn't hear anything until I got my acceptance in June. I know a good number of people that were in a similar situation as me. I know it's aggravating but hang in there and know that no news is good news!
